Obama gives away 7 Alaskan islands?

Apparently so. Oil-rich islands given away to Russia. Estimated to be billions of barrels of oil.
The agreement was talked about in total secrecy. The state of Alaska wasn't allowed to participate.
We gave up Alaska's territory and get nothing in return. They were strategic too. More information about it here.

I am sorely disappointed in the decision. Thoughts? Maybe I missed something?
Is there a good side to this at all? . _ .

EDIT :: Actually, it was a violation of a treaty we had completed with Russia in keeping those islands. They are closer to Russia so they fall into their occupation with the treaty. Keeping them was a violation with the treaty. c:

These islands were closer to Russia than us, not to mention we had a border treaty and holding onto these was a technical violation.
