Ya notice how all those arrested are females... on both witch-hunt occasions...

How many males are arrested for for this same thing?
Ya notice that the majority of slashfic writers are females?

I have no idea. I don't read that stuff. So I am ignorant on the matter. Does not detract from my question. Are the authorities tracking down the male writers too? Should at least be hearing about that. I hate one-sided reports like that.
I do have an idea, and they are usually females, so now you know. They have not tracked down more than a tiny fraction of the writers, but I suspect they are hunting for more. Will you be happier if/when they arrest the odd male JohnLock shipper?

If this is something against the law in their country, then obviously you gotta track them down too. Be nice to hear about it so I dont go thinking things.
Be careful, your misandry is peeping out again.

I am aware. Also aware of my mistrust when it comes to "okay for men to do it but not okay for women" and women are at fault for men's sins" and all that issues.

You should be ashamed of your sexism, not just aware of it.

When was the last time you heard of a woman being arrested for soliciting a prostitute? It happens, just not nearly as often as the converse. Should more efforts be made to arrest women for this crime? If not, why not?

I do hear about it. Heard of teenage girls getting arrested for pimping out another girl against her will too.

Now leave me alone

In other news, China has been selected to join the infamous Dumbass Club. Uganda and Russia are very excited at its new member and their future potential of idiocy and violation of human rights.

Seriously China, what the ********. Is it really THAT important for you to waste your money on?

It is unfortunate to see such freedoms are restricted in China and other countries like it. I would think they have bigger problems to attend to, rather then simply tracking down these slash writers. Of course, we have it bad as well, but at least we can fight.

They, unfortunately, cannot (as much anyway).

I think there needs to be reform there, but I am not an expert on China nor it's relations. I do hope this ends soon though, it seems unfair to imprison people for writing something they enjoy (of course there are exceptions, though I believe all writings should at least be available to find).

My feelings on this:
User Image

I feel sorry for all the slash writers & readers of any oppressed country, not just china. I can only hope those who have been arrested so far will be released soon, and those that haven't yet, will never get caught.

Also, because one of my irl friends asked me this recently I'll say it here:

Quote:
"Why do some girls like all that slash/yaoi stuff? For the same reason some dudes like porn with two or more girls going at it. Hardly anyone can consciously explain why they have certain kinks or fetishes, we just do. Hardly anyone can rationalize why certain physical traits attracts us to some people, it just does. So in the end, who gives a flying ********]

While I do find this utterly stupid in ways that I don't think I would be able to rationalize out without having a few swear words fly out of my mouth and having that be censored by Gaia Online so that no one reading this would be able to understand the deepness of my rage (being a fellow slashfic writer myself), seeing as how this country has some pretty harsh laws against homosexuality and homosexuals in itself, I can at least give them the fact that they're consistent in what counts or not.

"All signs of homosexuality shall be persecuted, even the fictional ones written by the girls who must have been tainted by our Japanese neighbors who are clearly doing this as Japanese propaganda to take us back into their Imperialist wing! THIS IS WHY WE CLEARLY WANT BOYS INSTEAD OF GIRLS IN OUR BOARDERS~"

...that ended being more racist than I was originally planning...
I should stop thinking about this...
All right then...

Space Genius

Not surprised at all, but it will not stop us/them.
Multiple fandoms already have bans against erotica fanfictions (mostly for sanity reasons and because a majority of pairings are downright terrible) and bans against shipping wars. So that won't affect the fandoms really. But the fandoms that do allow them, well, most of them already went into memetic mutation in the fandom and outside the fandom. There is only so much otakus they can catch.
Just to make sure I understand, is it also illegal to read slash in china? Say someone in china reads a slash story online that was written in the united states, could the reader get in trouble?
Silvyee
Porn is illegal in communist countries and always has been. It's really not that outrageous.

I am constantly surprised that anyone I talk to that's age 30 or younger in the US thinks that porno is ok. It boggles my mind that they don't see the social and cultural consequences.

China is not communistic. They've been capitalists since the 90's

I imagine they would be, but I've yet to meet a single slash fiction writer who wasn't female. While I don't read them myself, I worked on redesigning a moderately sized community for fan fiction, and learned a lot about the community. It's just that the number of females to males in that section is so disproportionate that while they could be cracking down on male writers, they're just harder to find in general

How many males are arrested for for this same thing?

How many males write male same-sex romances targeted toward female readers?

Since I do not read those kinda things in the first place or even follow who does what, I do not know.

It was more a rhetorical question

No males where arrested because no males write male same-sex romances targeted toward female readers.
