This is coming from someone who used to be big on the club scene - "twerking" is nothing more than an extreme way of drawing attention to the genital area.

Well, that video explained nothing about twerking. Although i'm pretty sure that when an advanced alien race eradicates our race and is taken to an Intergalactic Court of War Crimes, they'll be using it as Exhibit 7,891,672 in their defence for exterminating us all.

Luckily for me, it was on Google News because it's been added to a dictionary, and having seen the meaning of it, all I can say is that I do not understand the sudden ******** obsession with it. No, they aired what were apparently the least offensive clips. Considering this was the VMA awards, it was aired on cable, which still isn't appropriate.

She's pretty proud of the fact people were tweeting her, ignoring the fact most of those tweets were defaming her and that atrocious 'dance' of hers. We were all waiting for her fall from grace, and boy did she deliver.

It's sad, because she knows she's on her way down the road as the 'has been', and is willing to use shock tactics in a desperate attempt to remain relevant. Those 'shock tactics', however, pale in comparison in the musical generation that includes Lady Gaga.

Things like these are the reasons I appreciate Taylor Swift. Her music is not the best, but at least she has some class. The worst they could say about her during the VMAs was how tall she was compared to Bruno Mars.

My issue with Miley's performance was not the 'shock factor,' but the fact that it was just all over the place and seemed unrehearsed. Say what you want about Lady Gaga, but she is classically trained in both piano and singing. She may use a lot of the shock factor, but she does have talent to back it up and does put thought into what her performances will include. Taylor Swift is okay too, but her having more stripped down types of performances does not make her the better artist.

Lady Gaga's performances are rehearsed and planned out. I don't know much about Nicki Minaj's work, so I can't say the same. If Miley's performance didn't seem scattered and messy, I don't think people would have as big of an issue with the sexual content of the performance. The whole thing just seemed very desperate. The public is very aware that she's not a little girl anymore. She doesn't need to shove it down our throats. We get it.

Britney made a statement too that she wasn't a little girl anymore back in 2000 during her own VMA performance. What's the difference? It actually looks rehearsed, organized, and choreographed. She doesn't look desperate to be taken seriously as an adult artist.

IMO, if you're shaking your junk around in an obvious sexual manner, wearing next to no clothes, and getting paid for it = whore, along with the standard definition as you pointed out above. This includes strippers and many professional cheerleaders. I suppose we could come up with another word to describe it if they're not making it so baldly clear clear that they're willing to exchange sexual favors for money, but meh. I'm so tired of excuses like "If you've got it, flaunt it!" or "People are willing to pay for me it!" - have some ******** class.

Honestly, I kind of wonder how many parents got bugged to turn on the VMA's because their ten-year-olds went "Mom, Miley Cyrus is going to be on, can I watch plz?" "Oh sure honey!" They just remember her as a Disney star and don't think anything of it, and turn it on and go into the kitchen to make dinner. If they didn't come back in the room in time to catch their kids watching that pornographic performance, they may wonder why in a few days their kid is imitating her to disastrous consequences, like a suspension or worse, putting it out there on the internet.

I think Miley just took it too far with this performance. Rehearsed or not, it's just another way for her to gain attention and be even more popular than before.

I thought the performance was pretty disgusting and hope she regrets what she did. Then again, Robin Thicke is no angel either.
