So.. does that mean softcore porn influences people to rape?
Soft core porn with not-so-subtle rapey scenes that the author passes off as romantic? Possibly. At the very least, it ain't helping.

Wow, how graphic were the rape scenes? I've never seen the movie, so I wouldn't have guessed it looked realistic or like rape at all. I thought the movie/book was purely BDSM.

I went through a phase where I read lots of stuff about children being graphically sexually abused.

I have no desire to harm children, sexually nor not.

Could it be that the desire to harm was inside this person and had nothing to do with art?

No dude, you don't get to blame it on 50 shades.
You're just a jackass.

I've watched plenty of movies of people doing bad things - didn't go out and do those bad things.
Cuz - FICTION

That's like if I said reading "Catcher in the Rye" inspired me to kill Reagan. Or was it John Lennon? No that was "To Kill A Mockingbird." ALRIGHT! THAT'S ENOUGH! We need to stop blaming books, because now I'm getting confused!

I've watched The Princess Bride a number of times but I've still never killed a rodent of unusual size or bested a giant. I've never even been a pirate. smile

I avoided bars for a few days after watching From Dusk Till Dawn for the first time. I think that's the worse I've been affected. But I went back immediately after watching The Big Lebrowski. Now White Russians are my favorite mix drink of all time! Funny how things work, huh?

The series wishes it were BDSM. Most people who are into that scene say it's a really poor representation. There's at LEAST one scene where the dude ignores the girl's safe word, which is a HUGE no no in the BDSM culture. Author had some rape fantasies that she wanted to pass off as BDSM and preferred to make the rapey stuff seem good as opposed to actually researching the culture.

Some people use all kinds of 'inspirations' as their excuses. It's what I have been trying to tell you all. The criminal is telling you where they got the idea from and that they are not "smart" enough to think of it on their own. Tells you just how much of a douche they really are.
Rape is rape no matter how you look at it. Once a victim says "no" or is under the influence of drugs or alcohol or otherwise unable to participate in any way that says they are committed to anything, it becomes a heinous crime that needs to be answered to. And that does not even cover where minors are concerned!
See what happens when you take an MRA websites advice to heart?

I don't care what any of you say, I'm blaming the book and the author because without this smutfest getting off the ground, I'd like to think that the dregs of the female population wouldn't have admitted that rape is sexy and a guy can do whatever he wants to you, and everyone else, so long as he's rich and "hot".
