What's with all the stabbing these days :/

It's our culture of violence and how we're taught at a young age that violence is okay and that problems can be solved with violence. It ******** people up royally when they're told that sex is worse than violence.
Was that what caused the stabbing of all those little children in a Chinese school last year? I don't know what they teach young people about sex in China.

Different cultures end up creating different motives/reasons for violence. China actually has less violence than we do. Which is probably partially due to oppression but also due to their communistic beliefs of the greater good. Our individualistic views in the US are one of the things that can lead to violence along with the aforementioned view of violence being okay and better than the natural process of sex. One thing that does create violence no matter the culture is huge wealth differences and poverty.

So, why exactly did that Chinese guy go postal on the kiddies? How about that guy from Norway who killed all those kids at camp? I don't think of Scandinavian countries as currently (they were berserkers and vikings after all) having a culture of violence as you would probably define it, and they seem also to take a very pragmatic approach to matters of sex. Do they have a huge gap between the wealthy and the poor?

It's funny, but you give diametrically opposite reasons for why violence occurs, yet you apply a greater stigma to the individualistic culture for its violent acts than you seem to apply to the communistic culture. Why is that?

Well there are crazy people everywhere. But just as one weather pattern does not show climate, one incident does not show a culture of violence. The reason we are seen to have a culture of violence is the mass amounts of violence we have. Now I'm not actually saying we are the worst. The UK actually beats us with the rate of violent crime per capita. Both of our countries have issues with violence.

That's because it's a complex issue and there is not just one reason for it. And again, the reasons depend on the culture. Our country has a lot more violence for the sake of violence than a lot of other countries. It also has a lot more violence due to poverty. But the biggest reason we are a culture of violence is because we accept violence. A lot of this country accepts violence as a way of life and a thing that just happens. A lot of other countries do not.

Because individualistic culture breeds violence where communistic/socialistic does not. A closer knit community of people who take care of each other in a country that fosters togetherness and common good over individualism fosters more peace than an individualistic country that fosters an us verses them mentality within it's borders.
