Cow rescued from the middle of the 'moo-terway'

A cow caused traffic chaos when it got stranded in the middle of a motorway.

The police had to rescue the cow which walked into the central reservation on the M8 near Glasgow airport in Scotland.

Traffic was delayed while the farmer tried to get the animal back to safety.

Drivers snapped the cow looking a bit lost on the road just after 8am on Wednesday 30 January.

I only find it amusing because the cow is safe. I've encountered many beasties wandering loose on the roads when I'm driving in the countryside, and I always stop to contact local farmers and find out who own them and will rescue them. Or at least locate the hole in the fence and let my dog herd (them back through to safety (she's bred and trained to herd). It's funny afterward, when you can relax.

We raised cattle and once in a while one would get out even with good fences. Fortunately we did not live near a major roadway. Though there were a few times we held up traffic on our lightly used rural road that ran between our farm properties. Fortunately it was only a very few times over the years. I think I've helped someone else deal with their escaped cow or horse more times than I've dealt with our own.
Scary on a major road though. Cars are going faster so more dangerous for both cow and driver.
