Seriously, the government needs to learn that they can't control everything. The Internet is basically a place where we can display freedom of speech, which they are obviously are trying to take that away from us. The government can be so stupid at times. This should look at the First Amendment.

Agreed.

Seriously? Why can't the government learn from the other bills and see we don't want any of these to be passed? If this one or any other pass bill is passed I can see major rioting. People won't accept it, just like they didn't accept when liquor got outlawed back in the day.

Let them pass the bill. Let them be reminded of why they retracted Prohibition. Let them tempt fate.

I love this response. xD
Hello! Please sign this petition against the CISPA law that is to be passed Monday http://www.avaaz.org/en/stop_cispa/?cEzVUcb Basically, any rights with the internet would be taken away if this law is passed on April 23rd 2012. We would be stalked and controlled, our private emails would be read by government officals and perhaps even force us to pay fees for our internet usage.
Please help stop the US government from taking away more of our rights as citizens of the United States before it's too late and spread the word! About 300,000 signatures are still required to stop this bill! Thank you<3

This is different, actually. Prohibition was widely unpopular, sure, but that wasn't why the 18th Amendment was repealed. It was repealed because the government realized a few years too late that they didn't have the power to completely ban the sale and possession of alcohol. Instead of seeking legal means, consumers sought out illegal manufacturers and sellers of liquid filth, which effectively rendered the 18th Amendment moot because you could still buy alcohol if you knew where to look, and the government couldn't do anything about it.

On the other hand, I'd be damned surprised if the government hasn't already developed the kind of computer programs needed to pry into our personal business. In fact, something similar has already been around for at least a decade now: tracking cookies, something advertising agencies install during browsing sessions so they can get ideas about what products a certain user might twig to.

This bill HAS TO DIE. Seriously. The internet is OURS, not theirs. This violates the First Amendment on so many levels.

Really, guys, seriously, KILL THIS BILL. Be the demon on the politicians' backs and annoy them to death about how HORRENDOUS this bill is and why it must DIE!
