Why do I get the feeling that the system "essence to gold" was granting too much gold into the system? Although I doubt that Devs would sincerely care about inflation in Gaia (after what's going on right now), so perhaps not.

I don't feel like pulling out the quote but HOC was basically discontinued because it wasn't making money and eventually all the Devs were pulled off the project (and fired/let go).

Why it wasn't making money is up-to-debate though; personally, I felt that a lot of the booster packs simply weren't worth buying (especially since you couldn't trade).

You can still play the game. You just have to paste in the game's url into your address bar. Still grants essence-to-gold and everything.

The game probably won't ever be updated again, but we can still enjoy it the way it was.

I assure you it was generating orders of magnitude less gold than zOMG and booty grab. HoC never became nearly as popular.

I have no idea why they removed it when they didn't even remove it. It still exists. Just no longer linked to anymore. Which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

About the only thing I can guess is that it was removed so it wouldn't compete with smashblox which is a much easier way for Gaia to make money while adding zero effort to making anything meaningful.
