Basically just summarizing the general plot of the Campaigns; with my own flavor of course.

On the other hand, there is the in-game Dialogues which may also be found below.

The Campaign you get depends on which Herald you have equipped:
Sir Corwin, Stalker Delyth, Lord Paladin Cadogan, or Agent Helena for Avalon.
Raykl The Claw, Keljana The Champion or Furliss The Portent for Flameborn.
And Death Dealer, Succubus, The Fallen One, or Twilight Succubus for Hellspawn.

However, you will be forced to use the starting Heralds (Sir Corwin/Raykl The Claw/Death Dealer) as part of the story.

Discuss: the plot or whatever.

Work In Progress: None.

Avalon

You are a Commander within the Avalon military and have been tasked with the rescue of a captured operative who has gained valuable intel. Joining you on this mission is Sir Corwin - do keep an eye on him and make sure he stays focus on the mission.

May Honor and Justice be with you, Commander.

Mission 1 - Groom In Shining Armor
Avalon agent Helena has been captured by the forces of Hellspawn and is being held prisoner somewhere in the Plains Of Lament. Before her capture, she was tasked with searching for information about the cataclysms and it is imperative that she is safely rescued with this invaluable knowledge.

To Sir Corwin this is both a personal and urgent matter as Helena is his bride-to-be and he shall make the Hellspawn pay dearly if they even laid a hand or claw on his precious Helena. But the Avalon Herald swears to you that he will not jeopardize the mission for his feelings.

Sir Corwin and his men attack and destroy the demon guards, but the group is quickly ambushed by more jailers. However, without warning the new group of wretched Hellspawn creatures are whisked by a sudden cataclysm.

Agent Helena weakly and confusedly states that she made them leave and Corwin quiets her down to rest.

Doubting his sanity and eyes, Sir Corwin wonders uneasily if his beloved Helena truly has the power to control cataclysms and perhaps even end all the madness and chaos of war...

Mission 2 - A Disturbance In The Cataclysms
Agent Helena has suffered only moderate injuries but is still unfit to fight. Nearby your current location is a hidden Avalon Outpost and it would make an adequate but temporary base of operations for your forces to rest while Helena takes the time to heal her wounds as well. The sooner you leave this Hellspawn territory, the better.

Over the course of the journey, Agent Helena is quietly disturbed by her newfound powers, and this only increases Sir Corwin's worry for her - he believes that the Hellspawn and Flameborn will stop at nothing to capture her for that ability.

Your forces break through the enemy barricade and swiftly hide themselves away at the outpost. But they cannot stay there for long as you must secure Agent Helena's safety by reaching an Avalon Fortress as soon as possible...

Mission 3 - It's A Trap
Despite the brief respite, Agent Helena is now fully recovered. Unfortunately, this is the only upside at the moment; Hellspawn forces have discovered the outpost and are marching en mass. You rally your best soldiers as an small elite team to escort Sir Corwin and Agent Helena to the Archemarsh swamps.

During the travel, Sir Corwin is worried but also curious about his beloved Helena. He wishes to know if she can use her newfound powers for the greater of good of Avalon but Helena dismisses him as she does not wish to trifle with such chaotic energy.

Upon reaching their destination, the small strike force is ambushed by the Lord Of Despair and Agent Helena quickly is captured by the powerful Hellspawn Daemon. By the time Sir Corwin and his remaining men finish off the ambushers, the Lord Of Despair and Helena are both long gone.

Sir Corwin briefly laments his failure to protect her and then swiftly sets off to chase after the demons to rescue his beloved Helena before she can be corrupted by their evil sorcery...

Mission 4 - All Quiet On The Outpost Front
Agent Helena's unique powers cannot fall under Hellspawn control; her rescue is now of the utmost priority. Helena has most likely been taken to the stronghold owned by the Lord Of Despair and - while furious - Sir Corwin knows that your forces cannot risk a frontal assault.

Using stealth, your soldiers silently disable three demon outposts without alerting the main force.

With the border patrols gone, Sir Corwin has opened up a way for a surprise attack against the Hellspawn Daemon. There is no time to spare and the Avalon Herald makes haste to free Helena from the Lord Of Despair's clutches...

Mission 5 - Look Upon Her Corruption And Despair
With the powers of light, justice, and love, Sir Corwin is greatly driven to destroy the Lord Of Despair and secure the safety of his precious Helena before she can be handed off to a True Daemon Lord. However, you both know that this will not be an easy victory because the Lord Of Despair is a cruel and cunning strategist.

In a mad surge, your forces is able to overwhelm and annihilate the Lord Of Despair.

Alas, the Hellspawn Daemon's master, Vorax, has already arrived and proceeds to taunt Sir Corwin: Agent Helena is already under their control and will risk her life to defend her new dark masters - the former-agent even insults her former-lover before taking her leave.

However, Corwin does not allow himself to wallow in despair. He pushes onward, deeper into Hellspawn territory, so that he can make the vile Vorax suffer in retribution.

You follow him, for if Agent Helena cannot be saved, then she must be destroyed for the peace of Avalon...

Mission 6 - Rendezvous And Roll Out
Sir Corwin believes that there is still humanity left in his beloved Helena to save, thus he seeks out Father Gwydion - Avalon's foremost scholar about daemonic possession and mind control - in the ruins of Windmoor Abbey. The veteran warrior-priest is your greatest hope of figuring out a way to break the despicable spell over Agent Helena's mind.

The ruins is infested with Hellspawn minions but they are merely minor roadblocks to reaching Father Gwydion. The Avalon Herald announces his intention to send a Daemon Lord back to the fiery depths of Hell and old Gwydion is more than happy to oblige in assisting.

Demons strike from every twist and turn but your soldiers are able to repel them back. Therefore, Sir Corwin is safely able to escort the still battle-feisty Father Gwydion to the Monument Of Bones; deeper into Vorax's territory your army goes...

Mission 7 - You Must Capture An Additional Portal
In order to defeat Vorax, your forces must establish a foothold and supply-line in the Daemon Lord's territory. Gwydion volunteers his soldier for the stealthy task of stealing a portal; Sir Corwin will, of course, accompany the group as it was his idea.

The rowdy warrior-priest enjoys the harrowing ordeal as the small strike-force plow through light resistance. Sneaking themselves through a majority of the enemy lines, Father Gwydion secures a portal with little trouble.

Your forces now have a proper foothold to strike at Vorax's stronghold and - though he does not show it - Corwin is rather eager to begin the assault...

Mission 8 - Activating The Trap Signal
Your forces are poised to strike the heart of your enemy's stronghold but the stakes are stacked quite high. If this attack succeeds then the rewards will be threefold: a Daemon Lord will be vanquished, the ownership of the land will return to the hands of Avalon, and Agent Helena will be saved; all in one swift swoop.

Sir Corwin leads the charge with Father Gwydion and the two Avalon veterans eventually manage to take control of six vital areas around Vorax's stronghold. However, this turns out to be a trap and the sarcastic Daemon Lord is hardly intimidated nor impressed.

After a grueling battle Vorax is finally destroyed and banished to whence he came.

With the Daemon Lord gone, it is high time for Father Gwydion and Sir Corwin to cure Helena of her curse. But, unfortunately, it seems that the warrior-priest cannot restore Agent Helena to her former-self and the now-succubus takes control of Vorax's army.

Succubus Helena gives her former-lover one final chance to leave, but Sir Corwin still retains faith in her. Your forces must now deal with her newly acquired army, if the Avalon Herald is to get another chance to speak with Helena...

Mission 9 - Cloudy With A Chance Of Demons
Sir Corwin has yet to give up on his beloved; he remains steadfast to his ideals and will not give up on her until the very end.

Your forces muster their unshakable willpower to survive wave after waves of chaotic and demonic brutality to reach Helena. Eventually, you stop fighting a defensive battle and engage into an offensive one.

As the last Hellspawn minion fall beneath his heel, Sir Corwin attempts to reason with the corrupted Helena - to appeal to her former humanity - but ultimately fails in persuading her. The succubus then unleashes the powers of hell and transforms herself into an abomination.

Reluctantly, Sir Corwin decides that he must put down Helena once and for all...

Mission 10 - Cycle Of Hate And Revenge And War
Sir Corwin has slowly come to terms that Agent Helena is no longer human but now a true fiend of Hellspawn. But this is the final confrontation, if Helena cannot regain her mind on her own, then she must be eliminated - he shall not allow this twisted parody to pervert the memories of his lover.

You rally your forces for the final battle but the land beneath your feet begins to shake as you and your men suddenly find yourself facing off against the greater daemons serving under Succubus Helena. A holy cleansing begins as your righteous forces trade wound for wound, blood for blood, and death for death, toward the insidious demons.

In the end, victory shines upon your forces today. However, Succubus Helena is defeated but not cured. Using the last of her powers, she escapes from Sir Corwin's grasp - she vows that she will return to drag the Avalon Herald to hell with the full might of Hellspawn under her service.

Sir Corwin becomes utterly distraught and now dedicates his every moment to destroying the forces of hell. He will not rest until he meets Helena once more.

However, this is not the end and your role is not over yet. The Royal Family will need to hear of what has happened here and Avalon will need to prepare itself for the worst. It seems you won't be retiring anytime soon, Commander.

Flameborn

You are a commanding Warlord within the Flameborn Army and have gained important information that could completely change the three-way war. Under your tutelage is a talented herald, Raykl The Claw, who shall be doing much of the fighting for you.

May you find a worthy foe to test your mettle, Warlord.

Mission 1 - Cataclysmic Key To Flameborn Victory
Raykl The Claw has been informed by his spies that a unique Avalon agent was seen traveling in the Plains Of Lament whilst trying to escape from her Hellspawn pursuers. She apparently has intimate knowledge about cataclysms and could be the key to changing the tide of war in favor of the Flameborn.

The Flameborn Herald obliterates the prison guards holding Helena, only to be attacked by another group. Amazingly, the sudden newcomers are whisked away by a very accurate cataclysm caused by Helena.

Raykl demands an answer but the Avalon Agent cannot answer as her mind seems to be somewhat clouded by hellspawn-taint. The Herald takes this opportunity to assure Helena that she will be brought to a healer for her ailment.

This is a good chance for Raykl to build a solid relationship of trust between him and her - for the greater goal of the Flameborn faction's domination of this world, of course...

Mission 2 - Hide The Delivery But Watch The Package
Due to Agent Helena's injuries, your destination is now to secure a nearby abandoned outpost for hiding, though Raykl The Claw has reluctantly decided to stay low from prying eyes.

Meanwhile, the Flameborn Herald tries to be friendly while trying to get as much information as he can from Helena about cataclysms, but the lady is not very forthcoming nor polite in response.

Overall, it is little trouble for your forces to break a hole in a Hellspawn barricade and arrive at the outpost without delay.

However, even though Raykl The Claw is beginning to respect your new guest for her battle prowess, the Flameborn Herald is bothered that the hellspawn-taint may be more worst than he had thought and suggests keeping a closer eye on Agent Helena...

Mission 3 - Escaping The Uneasy Partnership
Raykl The Claw's scouts have reported that an immensely large Hellspawn force has blocked your primary route of escape and that another group is coming in from behind to overrun your current position. You scatter your forces and leave the few best to protect Raykl and Helena as they will be sneaking their way through enemy lines to escape to the swamps of Achemarsh.

Still, your temporary alliance with Agent Helena leaves much to desire as she is only putting the minimal amount of effort to ensure your forces' survival.

Everything was going somewhat smoothly until Raykl and Helena are ambushed by the Lord Of Despair and his forces. Because of her yet un-rid hellspawn-taint, Agent Helena is unable to resist the daemon's hypnosis and she is 'willingly' apprehended by those fiends.

Raykl is appropriately disturbed by the information about the Flameborn that Agent Helena has now unwittingly gathered for her new dark masters. She could perhaps become a greater enemy than he had originally bargained for...

Mission 4 - Burn The Outposts Down With Rage
Time is of the essence. The intimate knowledge that Helena has attained could easily put the whole of Flameborn in great danger and so your forces are chasing after the Lord Of Despair's trail with swift urgency.

Arriving at the border of the daemon's territory, Raykl The Claw disables several outposts and creates a hole in the Lord Of Despair's outer-defenses.

Exploiting the new gap, your army is prepped for war and marches onward to battle. Raykl himself is looking forward to taking the Lord Of Despair's skull as a personal trophy...

Mission 5 - Fairy Tale Despair Meets Real Dragons
Even though you have caught the Lord Of Despair unprepared, the daemon is still quick to mobilize his army. Regardless, your own forces will give no quarter nor any mercy to that Hellspawn scum.

Raykl The Claw leads the attack and succeeds in defeating the Lord Of Despair. But the daemon leaves you with a ominous but fairy-tale prophecy with his remaining dying breaths.

It is then that Vorax arrives with Agent Helena in tow. However, it appears that the Avalon lady has finally succumbed to her hellspawn-taint.

Raykl is disappointed in this outcome but does not yet believe that Helena has been completely possessed. Since there is still a chance to save her, the Flameborn Herald thinks it's about time for him to call in a old favor...

Mission 6 - Reunion At A Ruins
Raykl The Claw has a mutual alliance with an old Avalon warrior by the name of Gwydion that he has finally decided to use. The human man is now retired and a bit of a recluse living somewhere in the ruins of Windmoor Abbey, however, he is now a priest and has studied many Avalon theologies, so he is the perfect candidate to assist you in freeing Agent Helena's mind from Vorax's control.

Raykl humbly requests the warrior-priest's assistance and Father Gwydion is more than happy to give it.

The Flameborn Herald is pleased to see that age has not eroded the human's fighting skill and is quite assured that the looming threat above the Flameborn is now almost all but gone. Now the question is whether Father Gwydion will be able to dispel the hellspawn-taint from Helena or if a more deadly measure will be required...

Mission 7 - Nobody Expects The Flying Dragons
Even with the strength of your army, it is not possible for you to directly compete against the might of Vorax within his own territory. Luckily, Raykl The Claw has devised a plan to steal a portal from the Hellspawn Lord and use that to bring in your army from inside his domain. Father Gwydion approves of the idea and calls it brilliant - you agree since you're going along with it.

Using a small flock of powerful dragons, Raykl and Gwydion easily make their way deep into Vorax's territory and only have to muscle through light resistance. All the meanwhile, the two of them bond over the mutual enjoyment of killing Hellspawn minions.

The two warriors easily overwhelm an outpost and Gwydion swiftly wrestles control of the portal away from the demons. With that your forces are near-perfectly poised to rush onward against Vorax's forces...

Mission 8 - A Riddled Question Deserves A Bladed Answer
Though the damage has been done, your primary goal is still to recover Helena as to prevent any more leaks about the Flameborn - particularly those about Raykl The Claw and your own army - from spreading further into enemy hands. It just so happens that this process will also very likely involve destroying the most powerful Hellspawn Lord ever encountered.

Your forces fight with Flameborn ferocity and honor and manage to overtake Vorax's stronghold with ease. Raykl The Claw flushes out the Hellspawn Lord and is in no mood for Vorax's riddling words, thus he promptly slays the Hellspawn Lord after a glorious fight - though Vorax died with little dignity.

Helena appears in the aftermath of the battle but she has changed and has become a embodiment of the Hellspawn. Neither Raykl's nor Gwydion's words are able to sway her and she will not return to Avalon except to deliver upon them fear of her newfound might.

You and Raykl cannot allow the newborn demon to fully ascend into a higher position of power within the Hellspawn hierarchy. It is clear what must be done...

Mission 9 - Into The Jaws Of The Beast
Raykl banishes the notion that Helena is beyond salvation. However, you and he both know that this is the truly final opportunity to save her and there is no turning back after this. Remaining steadfast to his ideals, Raykl The Claw will try to have Helena remember her humanity. But to do that, your forces must first survive the waves of Hellspawn creatures to reach the succubus.

Bringing in your most powerful dragons, Raykl and Gwydion both endure through the raging onslaught of demons. Despite Helena's understanding of Raykl's style and the use of her war-bred demons, she is unable to defeat your forces. Soon the final wave of demons die beneath the claws and roars of your fearsome dragons.

Raykl The Claw gives Helena one last chance to surrender but she refuses his offer and forces the Flameborn Herald to battle her. But even in defeat she refuses their help. Helena changes into something even more demonic than before; a gnarled and horrible visage of her former-self.

Putting his fear aside, Raykl brandishes his sword and prepares for the final battle...

Mission 10 - Clash Of The Titans
Agent Helena is gone and all that remains is the purest form of evil in the guise of her shape. Raykl is now prepared to kill her.

A battle of titans begins in the Forsaken Realms as your powerful dragons clash with primal rage and strength against the arch-demons summoned by Succubus Helena.

The sky is filled with the great beating of your forces' massive wings that cloud the darkened light, the ground quakes beneath the stomps of your forces' immense girth, and the very air is filled with the roars of your dragons' mighty noise. The very battlefield is torn asunder by the momentous clash.

It is a hard fought battle but your forces manage to overcome the odds and Succubus Helena is defeated but not dead. Another cataclysms vanishes from the landscape as Helena retreats but she promises that she will return and bring all of Hell with her.

Victory is had today but is it only a short respite. Helena will return to do battle once more. But when she does, we will all be ready to fight at your side, Warlord.

Hellspawn

You are a True Daemon Overlord and have heard some interesting news about an ungrateful whelp trying to usurp your position. With the aid of your relatively trustworthy advisor and retainer, Araael The Death Dealer, it's about time for you to further your own agenda.

It's good to be evil.

Mission 1 - A Captured Maiden Needs A Villainous Rescue
Araael The Death Dealer reports that the old suck-up Vorax is trying to curry favor with the other True Daemon Overlords that are not you. To facilitate this, the Daemon Lordling has captured a high-ranking Avalon Agent who also happens to be the fiancee of one of Avalon's most decorated Herald. The Death Dealer subtly suggests thwarting Vorax's plan by taking this Avalon Agent for yourself.

This, of course, means fighting against other Hellspawn forces - like this small detachment led by Cerness The Skull - but, in Araael's advice, any demons serving Vorax is not worthy of life, so it would best to just slaughter them all.

Your Hellspawn Herald neatly destroys the guards watching over Helena but is quickly surrounded by another of Cerness' warriors. Suddenly, a powerful rift scatters the enemies away; courtesy of a still exhausted Agent Helena.

The ability to control cataclysms at will would certainly explain why Vorax was after her and Araael suggests 'persuading' the woman to your cause...

Mission 2 - Assuming Mental Control
Agent Helena may have taken a bonk on the head but she is still resistant to your temptations. Araael The Death Dealer now must personally escort the weakened woman to a nearby hidden outpost so that he can began the ritual of snapping Helena's free-will like a brittle twig. And also perhaps find out more about her strange powers over the cataclysms while he's at it.

Obviously, Agent Helena is not very happy with you as her new captor and is quite adamant about revealing very little of anything - that shall not a problem when this trip is over.

There is but a mere Hellspawn barricade blocking the way and Araael easily breaks through it to reach the outpost. When finally there, the Death Dealer promptly begins the mind-control ritual. You have no time to waste since Vorax's forces are surely on their way to take back his stolen prize...

Mission 3 - Everyone Is A Thieving Thief
The domination of Agent Helena's free-will is complete and she ready to now serve you and - by extension, your Hellspawn Herald as well. However, Vorax's greater force has arrived and are quite intent on flushing you out. Araael The Death Dealer suggests retreating to the swamps of Achemarsh which should cover your forces' tracks.

With a small group of loyal minions, Araael fights and obliterate the enemy demons that are blocking your route of escape. The Hellspawn Herald suggests that Helena should open up a rift but she states that she cannot create one by will.

Despite leaving behind a path of death and destruction as a warning of sorts, Araael The Death Dealer is unexpectedly ambushed by The Lord Of Despair who steals Agent Helena away during the confusing skirmish.

But this is merely a minor setback in the grand scheme of things...

Mission 4 - There Were Outposts Here But Not Anymore
Araael The Death Dealer is a little more than annoyed that Helena has been stolen from your grasp and he proposes paying Vorax's loathsome minion, the Lord Of Despair, a visit to reclaim your new agent friend.

To do this would be a simple matter, basically it would be the quick and quiet disabling of three of the Lord Of Despair's outposts that watch over the lands of his stronghold.

Using speed to his advantage, Araael has cleared a path for a surprise assault against the Lord Of Despair's domain. Now is the time to take the Hellspawn Daemon down before Vorax personally arrives to retrieve Helena...

Mission 5 - Steal The Maiden And Prepare To Die
The assault on the Hellspawn Daemon begins and Araael is quite eager to slit the Lord Of Despair's throat - its a matter of evil principles after all.

You command your forces and within a moment's notice the Lord Of Despair is promptly defeated with ease. However, Vorax has already arrived on the scene and declares that - when Helena's powers ripen - he'll use it to send you screaming into the void. Araael The Death Dealer isn't convinced and calls the Daemon Lordling a weakling.

Now that Helena has become a thrall for Vorax, things may become a little troublesome from here on out. The Hellspawn Herald suggests that a new plan of attack is in order...

Mission 6 - Jolly Cooperation
Even amongst demons Vorax is a master in the art of manipulating the minds of humans. But Araael has a plan on breaking his spell over Helena: there is a human priest by the name of Gwydion who was a bit too enthusiastic in the dark arts and was finally corrupted by it. The human is somewhat crazy in the head but that is simply a result of the Death Dealer altering his mind to serve you.

This - once again - being Araael's suggestion means that he is quite amused with the prospect of seeing how many insults he can get away with by tricking the priest.

After picking up Father Gwydion and cutting through enemy lines, Araael escorts the funnily crazy Avalon priest to the Monument Of Bones. Next on your list of schemes is to establish a foothold inside of Vorax's domain...

Mission 7 - Now You're Thinking With Portals
As much as Araael enjoys Gwydion's hilarious company, it's about time to get down to business and sneak the human priest into Vorax's land to establish a foothold. The plan this time is to have Gwydion use his magic to steal a portal from the Daemon Lordling.

This will be a quietly quick task, so you're only giving the Death Dealer the use of a small force. Regardless, Araael takes over an outpost before Vorax's force can even react.

Now it's just a matter of time before you can overwhelm the Daemon Lordling's stronghold and decimate his army...

Mission 8 - You Must Attune Additional Portals
The time to attack is now and Araael relishes the coming chance to finally humiliate Vorax once and for all. This attack will no doubt end with the complete annihilation of his army, the repossessing of Helena, and Vorax himself being chopped into itty bitty pieces of mincemeat; the Death Dealer urges to use caution though - the Daemon Lordling may be a worm but he's a cunning worm nonetheless.

A large battle of demons versus demons ensues, which nearly ends when Araael takes over almost all of Vorax's strategic locations. However, it turns out to be a trap by the Daemon Lordling to decapitate your army of Araael's - and Gwydion's - immediate leadership in one mass culling.

Your servants survive the ambush and quickly retaliate. Vorax and his minions are then quickly silenced forever in eternity. Afterward, Father Gwydion attempts to cleanse Helena of Vorax's control but ultimately fails to do so.

The Death Dealer wonders if you're better off just killing the possessed woman now and Succubus Helena is amused at the idea and would like to see you try. She now has the entirety of Vorax's army under her control and their first order is to kill any trespassers.

Araael is amused and approves of the coming challenge...

Mission 9 - One Does Not Simply Trespass Into The Forsaken Realms
Since Father Gwydion has failed to do anything of use, it is now up to your Hellspawn Herald to change Helena's mind. He suggests that a good beating should suffice, but if that doesn't work then he'll just have to destroy her - it's not a good habit to leave loose ends after all.

You summon your strongest warriors to repel and counter the tediously repetitive onslaught of Vorax's remnant demons so that you may reach Succubus Helena and teach her a lesson. Eventually all of Helena's primary army has fallen to your superior demon-warriors.

Araael mocks Helena for her pathetic attempt and defeats her. Angered by his insolence, the succubus empowers herself and takes on a rather menacing form...

Mission 10 - All Hail The Overlord
Helena's innate cataclysmic powers have transformed her into some sort of Succubus Overlord. Araael The Death Dealer believes that this will finally be a chance to have a decent fight.

A battle of demonic proportion erupts as your loyal minions clash against the greater demons controlled by Succubus Helena. The battlefield is created anew as the plains is littered with corpses of the dead and the blood of all. The screams of the tormented fill the air as life after life is snuffed out in the cruelest of manners. It is a carnival of death for all to see.

In the end, your forces are able to overcome the odds and Succubus Helena is defeated but not subdued. Another cataclysms occurs as Helena vows to return one day with Hell under her will.

Perhaps Helena will make a better rival than Vorax ever could be. But, for now, you can only wait and see what kind of devastation she'll bring when she returns. Hell is about to become more interesting with her around, Overlord.

Avalon Dialogue

Mission 1 - The Hellspawn Captive

(Pre-Mission)

User Image Commander, if I may: our scouts report that the Hellspawn have taken one of our finest agents captive, somewhere on the Plain Of Lament. It may seem like a bit of madness to rush headlong into Hellspawn territory, but the safety of this captive is paramount.

It is a matter of some... personal urgency, commander. The captive is Helena, who is to be my bride if ever this damned war is over. I swear to you, I would not risk the lives of my men for my own feelings alone - Helena was exploring the region in search of knowledge of the cataclysms, and her findings may be quite valuable.

Truth be told, Helena is twice the warrior I am, and any Hellspawn that captured her is a powerful foe indeed. We have a camp at the outskirts of Hellspawn territory; we’ll proceed from there, find her, and bring her back - unharmed, I hope.

(Mission Start)

User Image If these monsters have laid a hand on Helena... the darkest torments of hell are child's play compared to the pain I'll show them.

(Some turns pass)

User Image A keg of mead to the man who brings me the most Hellspawn fingers.

(Attacking the guards)

User Image So, you've come for our captive, have you? Kill them all!

(Reaching Agent Helena)

User Image Corwin... I knew you'd come...
User Image Helena, my love... have they harmed you? I swear on my life I'll kill them, every last one of them. The Hellspawn approach once more!
User Image No... away with them!

(Cataclysms occur)

User Image What? The Hellspawn have scattered... but how?
User Image I... I made them leave...
User Image Rest, my dear. We will speak of this when you've recovered.

(If Agent Helena is attacked)

User Image Helena must be protected! With her injuries she cannot fight alone!

(Agent Helena and Sir Corwin reach homebase; Victory)

User Image Have I gone mad or did Helena... somehow create a rift in the earth? It seemed too precise to be mere coincidence. Our priests have speculated that it may have been possible for some exceedingly rare individuals to gain power over these cataclysms... if Helena holds this potential, she may be the key to ending this madness. We must bring her to safety at once.

Mission 2 - Precious Cargo

(Pre-Mission)

User Image Helena has suffered only moderate injury due to a fall from horseback; thank heavens we found her before the Hellspawn could harm her further. She should recover fully, but she’s still in no shape to fight, and this camp can offer little protection.

We must take her somewhere safe to recuperate. There’s an inconspicuous Kingdom outpost just outside Hellpawn territory where we can hide for the moment. I’m not sure precisely what we saw on the Plain Of Lament, but if Helena has any connection to these cataclysms, it’s imperative we keep her out of the Hellspawn’s reach.

(Mission Start)

User Image How do you fare, Helena?
User Image My mind is hazy... as though I'm looking through a veil.
User Image We will have you to the outpost in no time.

(Some turns pass)

User Image That rift... I felt it before it happened.
User Image Are you sure, Helena?
User Image I... I feel faint.
User Image We must hurry.

(If Agent Helena is attacked)

User Image We must protect Helena at all costs!

(Near the Inconspicuous Outpost)

User Image The outpost is in sight; make haste.

(Agent Helena and Sir Corwin reach Outpost; Victory)

User Image Helena's words worry me... If she indeed has some connection to these cataclysms, then the Hellspawn and Flameborn will stop at nothing to capture her.

We must stay here until Helena is well enough to travel and not a moment longer. She must be returned to our fortress as soon as possible.

Mission 3 - Escape To Achemarsh

(Pre-Mission)

User Image Commander, the Hellspawn have tracked our position and are nearly at the outpost’s walls. We can’t risk Helena being captured again. Our best chance of getting Helena out alive is by rallying a small band of well-trained fighters and attempting to sneak past the vile creatures, attracting as little notice as possible.

Our one stroke of luck is that Helena is back in fighting shape. With her at my side, the Hellspawn stand no chance.

(Mission Start)

User Image Our territory is but a few leagues away. With any luck, we won't encounter much opposition.
User Image Let the Hellspawn try to take me again. I'm eager to repay their hospitality.
User Image Careful, my love. Such words tempt fate.

(A turn passes)

User Image Helena... when you were injured, I would swear I saw you cause one of those rifts.
User Image Yes... I remember it only vaguely, as though I'm recalling a dream.
User Image Such an ability would be of great help to the Kingdom. Perhaps, if you focus, you could try to cause one now...
User Image I have no desire to trifle with such forces.

(One space from Achemarsh)

User Image We're nearly to our own territory.
User Image I expected more resistance.

(Reach Achemarsh with Agent Helena and Sir Corwin)

User Image This was too easy!

(Battle begins)

User Image Enough of this! Helena is ours!
User Image Noooo... Corwin!

(Round three of battle)

User Image They've taken her! We must find Helena at once...

(Win surprise battle; Victory)

User Image My love... I couldn't save her. Now the Hellspawn have taken her and her strange powers will be at their disposal... I can't bear to think of it. We must get her back at once, Commander, before they twist her mind with their evil sorcery. We have little time.

Mission 4 - Disarm The Outposts

(Pre-Mission)

User Image Our worst fears are realized: the Hellspawn have captured Helena once more and her growing powers may soon be under their control. Even beyond my personal stake in the matter, reclaiming Helena must be our highest priority.

She’s likely been taken to the heavily-guarded stronghold of the Lord Of Despair. Much as I’d love to slaughter the lot of them, we can’t risk a frontal assault on his forces. If we can disable his guard outposts quickly enough, we may be able to outmaneuver his army before he knows what’s happened.

(Mission Start)

User Image There are three guard posts to disable. We must spread out and find them quickly...

(One turn passes)

User Image If we tarry in these lands too long then the Hellspawn will be upon us like swarming wasps.

(Running out of time)

User Image If we don't disable the outposts in three turns, the Hellspawn will swarm us!

(Outposts taken)

User Image Simple enough. Just two more to capture...

User Image And there's the second. We must find the last before our time runs out...

User Image Excellent scouting, Commander. The third guard post is disabled.

(All outposts taken; Victory)

User Image With the Lord Of Despair's guard posts disabled, we've cleared the way for a surprise assault. We have no time to spare... we must defeat the Lord Of Despair at once and help Helena escape his clutches.

Mission 5 - First Assault

(Pre-Mission)

User Image Our last best hope of saving Helena lies in this mad surge. We must defeat the Lord of Despair before he can deliver Helena to his demonic superiors, for if a true demon lord takes hold of her, our chances of success will become more remote yet.

The Lord of Despair is an effective strategist who commands an exceptionally cruel company; our fight will not be easy, but light and justice are on our side - and love, of course.

(Mission Start)

User Image Onward; we haven't a moment to lose. Helena is near, I know it.

(One turn passes)

User Image You have come for Helena, have you? It is too late... she is ours forever.

(Defeat the Lord Of Despair; Victory)

User Image This matters not... you have already lost...

User Image You think we'd part with Helena so readily, Corwin? She is already far beyond your reach.
User Image Men, attack this creature!
User Image If you attack me now, your beloved will defend me with her very life. Her power is now ours to control.

User Image You are a coward, Corwin. You have failed to protect your beloved.
User Image Helena! It's not tru-
User Image I will go with Vorax willingly. He is my one true master. Follow me and I'll kill you all.
User Image Helena, no!

User Image Our worst fears have come to pass: Helena has been captured and corrupted by a Hellspawn Lord. We cannot waste a single moment in despair. We must find this vile demon that has poisoned the soul of my beloved and we must make him suffer. Hell itself is too good a place for this creature.

Mission 6 - Rendezvous With Gwydion

(Pre-Mission)

User Image There is still hope, commander. Helena’s mind has been twisted by the demon Vorax, but I know that her humanity is not lost forever. There’s one man who could break such a despicable spell: the priest Gwydion, our foremost scholar on matters of possession and demonic mind control.

As luck would have it, Gwydion is no stranger to warfare. During Avalon’s struggles for the throne, Gwydion’s blessings lifted many of our warriors to victory. Gwydion rides this way now; we’re to meet him in ruins of Windmoor Abbey and escort him to the Monument of Bone that marks the threshold of Vorax’s lands.

(Mission Start)

User Image Gwydion should be near. Once he is among us his powerful spells will aid our fight against the Hellspawn.

(After one turn passes)

User Image How strange... now, these strange rifts only remind me of my beloved.

(A unit meets with Father Gwydion)

User Image A pleasure to see a human face.
User Image Gwydion, I presume. Are you prepared to send a demon lord back to the depths?
User Image Nothing would gratify me more. Let's waste no time.

(Entering a battle)

User Image Ah, a fight... as a pious man, I should pretend not to enjoy this.

(Next to Monument Of Bones)

User Image Almost in position.
User Image So soon? Still had a bit of fight in me...

(Sir Corwin and Father Gwydion reach Monument Of Bones; Victory)

User Image Excellent. Now our success hinges on wresting Helena from Vorax's clutches. Onward!

Mission 7 - Capture The Portal

(Pre-Mission)

User Image Commander, our next task will not be an easy one. In order to defeat Vorax, we’ll need to establish a portal closer to his stronghold. His position is well guarded; our best hope is to lead a small band of Gwydion’s men through his territory, attracting as little notice as possible.

Once we find a portal in Vorax’s domain, Gwydion can steal it from them - then, we can summon support and mount an offensive against the vile demon.

(Mission Start)

User Image The few of us against Vorax's army? It's madness, Corwin.
User Image It's not without cause.
User Image No need to explain it, my son. I love a bit of madness.

(Start a battle)

User Image Hellspawn approaches.
User Image Draw your sword... let's make some happy memories, shall we?

(Near the portal)

User Image The portal is near. Once Gwydion secures it...
User Image We'd be right up their backsides!
User Image I am unaccustomed to such language from a priest.
User Image I advise you to get use to it.

(Capture portal outpost; Victory)

User Image With a foothold inside demonic territory, we can strike at Vorax's stronghold and begin the ritual to free Helena's mind from Hellspawn corruption.

Mission 8 - Storm The Stronghold

(Pre-Mission)

User Image We’ve moved into position amid Vorax’s forces, and now we’re in position to strike. The stakes are high, and a victory here would be threefold: we stand to crush a demonic lord, capture his lands, and rescue Helena in one fell swoop.

Once we’ve slain Vorax, it will be up to Gwydion to break the curse that twists Helena’s thoughts.

(Mission Start)

User Image This will be difficult. Vorax is the most powerful Hellspawn any man has yet encountered.
User Image Humph. These ghouls will need to dream up some new tricks if they hope to scare me.

(Six Victory Points acquired)

User Image Wonderful... the brave Sir Corwin has taken our bait.

(Final Armageddon)

User Image Your time is at an end, demon.
User Image Oh, have mercy. I tremble before your mighty sword.
User Image He's being sarcastic, Corwin. I don't believe you care for sarcasm.
User Image Indeed I do not, priest.

(Vorax defeated; Victory)

User Image Gwydion, we must find Helena.
User Image I believe it's she that's found us...

User Image So, Vorax is dead? You've done me the favor of killing him yourself.
User Image Helena! My love, I've-
User Image Your love? You abandoned your love on the Plains Of Lament. She is dead.
User Image It is not true, Helena. The demons have twisted your mind.

User Image By the power of my voice, the demons within are drawn out...
User Image Tell your priest his words have no power over me, Corwin. You will both die.
User Image My spell has no effect, Corwin. She may be far too gone.

User Image Helena, you must fight this madness!
User Image Retreat once more, Corwin The Cowardly... Vorax's armies are now at my command and their first order shall be to destroy all trespassers.

User Image Helena's mind has been poisoned against me but I do not despair. I know that the thing that taunts me is not my beloved but an evil parody. But there is a rather pressing matter... it seems that she intends to use Vorax's armies against us...

Mission 9 - Weather The Assault

(Pre-Mission)

User Image Helena cannot be turned by Gwydion’s spell, but I banish the notion that she is beyond salvation.

Helena will no doubt lash out with all the force she can muster - before Gwydion’s portal collapses, we must bring in our most powerful allies. We cannot retreat; we must weather Helena’s assault and hope for one last opportunity to save her.

We must remain steadfast in highest ideals - if Gwydion’s rituals won’t succeed, Helena can only be saved by the memory of her humanity.

(Mission Start)

User Image Soon, Vorax's forces will be loosed upon us. This may be the end of us, Gwydion.
User Image Better to die fighting than to... slip on a wet stone and hit your head, or some such nonsense.
User Image I am humbled by your wisdom, priest.
User Image I see you have a taste for sarcasm after all.

(Beginning each waves)

User Image Still here, Corwin? Perhaps I've misjudged you... you're a fool, not a coward. Attack these trespasser!
User Image Brace yourself... Hellspawn approach.

User Image Tenacious as a tick, aren't you? My forces will crush you yet...
User Image I won't be turned away so easily, Helena...

User Image I've enjoyed toying with you, but it's time to bring this to an end. Destroy them, Hellspawn!
User Image I will admit that this is becoming tiresome...

(All waves defeated)

User Image I'll fight to my last breath for you, Helena.
User Image So be it. I suppose I'll have to kill you myself!
User Image I will not fight you, Helena. You must cast off this curse. I know you have the strength, my love.
User Image Corwin, I... I can't... No! Prepare to die, you lovesick cretin!

(Mistress Of War defeated)

User Image Corwin... my love...
User Image Helena... is it truly you?
User Image You would murder your own bride, coward? Pathetic! Prepare to witness the true glory of hell...

User Image Helena has somehow transformed into some abomination from hell itself. I know there is humanity in her, yet... there is only one thing left to do...

Mission 10 - Confront Helena

(Pre-Mission)

User Image The time has come to confront Helena... or whatever she has become. Perhaps when she sees my face again, she might remember our love and shake free of the darkness that clouds her mind.

And if she cannot... her power must not be allowed to serve the Hellspawn and we will do whatever we must.

(Mission Start)

User Image I beg of you, Helena. Search your heart... there must be something within you that remembers who you once were.
User Image Stop it! Your whimpering disgusts me, human.

(Forced Final Armageddon)

User Image Enough of this nonsense! We end this here, Corwin!
User Image Good heavens... the land is shifting!
User Image Her powers grow stronger each day.

User Image I have no desire to fight you, Helena.
User Image Then lay down your arms and die quietly!

(Succubus Helena and her army defeated; Victory)

User Image This is not the end, Corwin. Next time we meet, I swear I'll drag you screaming to hell by that ridiculous hair of yours.
User Image Pay the demon no mind, Corwin. Her words are not Helena's.
User Image I cannot let you leave.
User Image You cannot stop me. When next you see me, the full might of the Hellspawn army will be at my side.

User Image Somewhere within that beast, Helena's heart still beats. I know I will see my love again one day... and until that day, my every waking hour will be devoted to killing the monsters that corrupted her.

If you'll pardon me, Commander, I need a moment to myself.

Mission 1 - The Hellspawn Captive

(Pre-Mission)

User Image Commander, an Avalon agent was seen crossing the Plain of Lament, having escaped from Hellspawn captivity. Our spies tell us that this agent is Helena, the bride-to-be of the famed Avalon herald Corwin. She’s also reputed to be something of an expert on these cataclysms that shatter our land - in fact, she was in the Plain of Lament to research these rifts.

If we can get to her before she’s carried off by the Hellspawn, we may gain valuable knowledge of these cataclysms - not to mention a powerful bargaining chip in any negotiations with the Kingdom of Avalon.

(Mission Start)

User Image We must capture Helena before the Hellspawn. Remember, we need her alive!

(Some turns pass)

User Image Go forward without fear... the Hellspawn are cowards at heart!

(When the guards are attacked)

User Image So, you've come for our captive, have you? Kill them all!

(Reaching Agent Helena)

User Image You're not Hellspawn.
User Image I should say not. The Hellspawn approach once more!
User Image No... away with them!

(Cataclysms occur)

User Image The Hellspawn have been scattered... Helena, did you somehow cause that rift?
User Image I... I do not know... The Hellspawn have done something to my mind...
User Image Do not worry, Helena. We are not monsters like the Hellspawn. We'll see to it that you're healed.

(If Agent Helena is attacked)

User Image Helena is injured and cannot fight alone; Assist her!

(Bring Agent Helena and Raykl The Claw to homebase; Victory)

User Image We've retrieved Helena. Though she's been injured, she seems cooperative. If we place a small amount of trust in her and she in us, this temporary alliance may result in our complete dominance of this world.

Mission 2 - Precious Cargo

(Pre-Mission)

User Image Our spotters have located an abandoned outpost not far from here. I'm not the type of warrior that's accustomed to hiding or laying low, but considering the circumstances, we're going to move Helena there until the Hellspawn move along.

Helena is now lucid and talkative, though perhaps not quite as agreeable as we’d hoped. With a few days treatment, she may be well enough to fight - on our side, we hope.

(Mission Start)

User Image We're headed to an outpost where we can enjoy some cover for a while. What do you know about cataclysms?
User Image You expect my help after you've kidnapped me?
User Image I don't have time to bargain with you, Helena. Either you help us or we'll toss you back to the Hellspawn. I know you'll make the right decision.

(Some turns pass)

User Image Ah... I'm beginning to sense these rifts before they happen.
User Image What is the nature of your connection to these cataclysms? Can you cause them at will?
User Image My word, you really are a simple opportunist, aren't you? This is bigger than our little armies... if these cataclysms can be harnessed, I will do so only for my own benefit.
User Image You have your motivations and I have mine.

(If Agent Helena is attacked)

User Image Helena's abilities are far too valuable! She must be protected at any cost!

(One space from Inconspicuous Outpost)

User Image We're almost to the outpost. Continue on!

(Agent Helena and Raykl The Claw reaches Outpost; Victory)

User Image We've arrived at a small abandoned outpost, which should give us a place to hide out for the time being. It's becoming clear that Helena is more powerful than I first believed, but there is a dark fire in her eyes that grows by the hour. Something happened to her out there; we must watch her carefully.

Mission 3 - Escape To Achemarsh

(Pre-Mission)

User Image My scouts tell me we have been tracked to this location by the Hellspawn. Time is of the essence, and if we try to fight our way out face-to-face, we'll be overtaken. We're taking the Avalon and sneaking our way past them as a small team. It's our best chance.

(Mission Start)

User Image The Hellspawn are after us in great numbers, so we're sneaking out of here. Are you well enough to travel?
User Image Yes, and I'll join your party for now, but be aware... you're making a very powerful enemy out of the Hellspawn. Even if you escape... this won't be over.
User Image If the Hellspawn wish to direct their full fury at my army then I must be doing something right.

(A turn passes)

User Image The cataclysms are getting more intense... I thought you said you could feel them before they occurred?
User Image I can but I have no allegiance to you. We are not allies, warrior.
User Image We saved you from capture by the Hellspawn and you're turning your back on us?
User Image You're a fool. Look at the world around you. Nothing is sacred and your misplaced trust will be your undoing.

(One space from Achemarsh)

User Image We're nearly there. Once we regroup, we can use what you know and formulate a plan of attack against our enemies.
User Image My new abilities are far too valuable to be wasted on your efforts.

(Reach Achemarsh with Agent Helena and Raykl The Claw)

User Image Come, Helena. We can no longer wait for the possession to take hold. We require your abilities now.

(Battle begins)

User Image The longer you hold out, the more painful your transition into a Hellspawn oracle will be. Give in and join your brethren, Helena.
User Image Warrior, help! I... find myself unable to... keep resisting...

(After Agent Helena and Lord Of Despair retreats)

User Image Coward! This isn't over!

(Win surprise battle; Victory)

User Image I sensed that Helena wasn't acting like a typical Avalon. There was no sense of justice and no honor in her heart, and now I understand why... she has been turned and twisted by the Hellspawn. With her knowledge of my army and her abilities, I fear we may now have a more powerful enemy than originally thought.

Mission 4 - Disarm The Outposts

(Pre-Mission)

User Image Helena knows too much about us to be allowed to fall into line as another Hellspawn. With her on their side, I fear our faction will be in grave danger. Before she succumbs completely, we must follow them to the Lord of Despair' keep. Time is of the essence.

(Mission Start)

User Image We're approaching the Lord Of Despair's stronghold; tread lightly.

(One turn passes)

User Image There are three guard posts that must be captured. If we can do this, we'll be able to confront him with our full might.

(Running out of time)

User Image If we don't disable the outposts in three turns, the Hellspawn will swarm us!

(Outposts taken)

User Image Simpler than I thought. Just two more.

User Image Excellent. Onward to the last guard post!

User Image We've done it. They're wide open now and the Lord Of Despair will curse the day he ever heard our name!

(All outposts taken; Victory)

User Image With the way cleared, our army marches forward, prepared to wage war. I have no fear about what awaits... in fact, I look forward to hollowing out the Lord Of Despair's skull myself and hoisting it into the air for every Hellspawn to see.

Mission 5 - First Assault

(Pre-Mission)

User Image The Lord of Despair is powerful and has a considerable army at his disposal, but at his core is merely a Hellspawn, and that is how I know we will triumph.

(Mission Start)

User Image Onward! As long as they have Helena, they pose a greater threat than ever before! Do whatever it takes! These are not honorable warriors who would give you the mercy of a painless death, so it is not necessary to provide them that luxury.

(One turn passes)

User Image You believe this is bravery but it isn't. It's foolishness and approaching my enclave will be your last mistake.

(Defeat the Lord Of Despair; Victory)

User Image Your fate has already been sealed. The story has been written, the tale told. We've merely begun.

User Image Your time is up, I'm afraid. Helena has completely submitted to the Hellspawn.
User Image Your words echo your protege, and look where it got him.
User Image How short your vision is! You see nothing but chaos when you look at us, but from chaos will come order when it is confined under one rule.

User Image Lay down your arms. This can all be over in a matter of moments if you'll let it.
User Image Helena! You have been influenced by this... beast! Fight it! You're betraying your people, your beloved Corwin, and everyone who has ever fought the Hellspawn's evil.
User Image N... No. I'm doing them a favor, this is how it was meant to be. I belong.
User Image How disappointing. I would've liked to call you friend, Helena.

User Image Helena is firmly in the grip of the Hellspawn, but I don't believe she has completely succumbed as the demon Vorax said. Our options are running out. Perhaps it's time to call in a favor...

Mission 6 - Rendezvous With Gwydion

(Pre-Mission)

User Image There's a man named Gwydion living out in the ruins of Windmoor Abbey. He is an Avalon priest and a formidable warrior as well... at least, he used to be. Many years ago we lent assistance to his army, which found itself cornered in an ambush. Though we had our obvious differences, he was grateful and offered to assist should we ever cross paths again.

Gwydion is a bit of a recluse, presumably still studying Avalon theologies. I can think of no one better suited to help us recover Helena and perhaps even break the grip the Hellspawn have over her mind.

(Mission Start)

User Image Gwydion lies this way. If he is as powerful as he used to be, then Vorax will have quite the fight on his hands.

(After one turn passes)

User Image With each cataclysm we grow closer to Hellspawn domination of this realm. There's no time to waste.

(A unit meets with Father Gwydion)

User Image I recognize you. It's been a long time.
User Image Indeed it has. I've come to ask for your help, humbly.
User Image My friend, if it is these wretched Hellspawn who are your enemy, you need not ask for my help... you've already got it.

(Entering a battle)

User Image Hah, look at this foul imp. These demons stand no chance against the pure of heart.

(Next to Monument Of Bones)

User Image We're almost out of the ruins. It's good to see you in such fighting form.
User Image Ah, that's true... I was wounded when you met me so many years ago. Friend, you haven't seen anything yet.

(Raykl The Claw and Father Gwydion reach Monument Of Bones; Victory)

User Image With Gwydion on our side, I'm more heartened than ever that we'll put an end to the threat casting a shadow over our faction. All that's left to wonder is if we'll be able to dispel the grip over Helena in time, or if we'll have to resort to... other measures.

Mission 7 - Capture The Portal

(Pre-Mission)

User Image Vorax's keep is guarded heavily on all sides. If we want to get close to Vorax, our best option would be to take a small team of our best men forward and have Gwydion steal a portal as far inside as we can manage, and we'll use it against him. If we succeed, out of it will pour our entire army, and we will bring havoc with us.

(Mission Start)

User Image This plan of yours is brilliant, I'd have never thought of it.
User Image You'd prefer something else?
User Image No, this will be excellent: catch them by surprise. Have you ever thrust your sword into a demon's eye socket? I think you'd rather like the noise.

(Start a battle)

User Image These Hellspawn make a satisfying crunch when you pierce their black hearts. Have you noticed?
User Image I have, in fact. The sound is growing on me.

(Near the portal)

User Image We're almost to the portal. Gwydion, will you be able to steal it?
User Image Absolutely. I look forward to sending these Hellspawn to their end.
User Image You're a priest, you say?
User Image I'm also an Avalon, my friend. They've wronged my people and yours in unforgivable ways. I'll never lose sight of that.

(Capture portal outpost; Victory)

User Image With the portal stolen, we are poised to rush Vorax's forces with abandon. Our priority is to recover Helena but no one can predict what will happen once the assault begins.

Mission 8 - Storm The Stronghold

(Pre-Mission)

User Image Our forces are prepared to flood out of the stolen portal and directly into the belly of Vorax's territory. Our primary goal is to recover Helena so she cannot use her knowledge of my faction against us, but if we happen to destroy a Hellspawn lord in the process... so be it.

(Mission Start)

User Image This will be difficult. Vorax is the most powerful Hellspawn any man has yet encountered.
User Image Hmph. These ghouls will need to dream up some new tricks if they hope to scare me.

(Six Victory Points acquired)

User Image Did you really think you were surprising us? We have Helena and she knows how you think, how you react under pressure, how you command; we'd knew you come.

(Final Armageddon)

User Image This ends here, demon.
User Image Your feeble brain works in such tragically narrow straight lines. What ends here? Nothing. Something is beginning here.
User Image I find your riddles tiresome.
User Image I couldn't have said it better myself.

(Vorax defeated; Victory)

User Image I should have expected as much. We humor the demon Vorax's taunts and get repaid merely in a few last breaths and disgusting gurgles. Such a rude beast.
User Image Your only mistake was assuming he had manners, friend.

User Image You're wasting your time and the lives of your men. Lay down your arms.
User Image Helena, we can help you. It doesn't have to be like this. We can take you back to your people, and back to your loved one.
User Image It wouldn't matter. Understand that the Helena you knew no longer exists. I am a vessel for the Hellspawn, an embodiment, a perfect creation.
User Image I have brought a priest with me, he may be able to help you, Helena... if you're still in there, somewhere.

User Image Let me try. I can see that a spark of you still exists behind those burning eyes. We'll take you back to your people as soon as you're better. We'll see that you can...
User Image Enough! If you take anything back to my people, let it be the fear that comes with resistance to my power!

User Image Helena has made it clear that she will not come with us without a fight. As long as she survives in a position of power among the Hellspawn then we are all vulnerable. It is clear what must be done.

Mission 9 - Weather The Assault

(Pre-Mission)

User Image Helena cannot be turned by Gwydion’s spell but I banish the notion that she is beyond salvation.

User Image Helena is an Avalon. I will not ask you to attack one of your own, Gwydion.
User Image She's not one of mine anymore. She... or whatever controls her... has relinquished that privilege.
User Image You're a wise man, Gwydion.
User Image If only wisdom were all we needed, friend. Hold your sword tight and let us produce a few more crunch sounds, shall we?

(Beginning each waves)

User Image I know you, warrior. I know how you behave. I know what your men are capable of.
User Image You've also inherited the Hellspawn propensity to lie, Helena. If you truly had the advantage you say, you would've stopped my men long ago. But here we are.

User Image Your men are talented, I will grant you that, but they are not bred for war as mine are. The superior Hellspawn soldier is simply a war machine... nothing more and nothing less.
User Image Indeed, that's all they are. They a lack soul. They lack a heart to know what they're fighting for. And that is how I know we have the upper hand.

User Image It's time to put an end to this. The longer you hang by a thread, the more enjoyment I'll take making your kind extinct.
User Image Neither momentum nor fate are on your side, Helena.

(All waves defeated)

User Image It's over, you have nothing left. Come with us, Helena. Your essence has not been lost just yet.
User Image Never!
User Image I will not bargain with you, Helena. If your response to my offer is a sword, then you shall get one in return.
User Image I cannot wait to watch the life leave your eyes.

(Mistress Of War defeated)

User Image Fools, the lot of you. Mere fools.
User Image It would seem you're at a disadvantage. You're coming with us. Gwydion is going to look at what he can do to-
User Image Silence! Your reckoning is at hand!

User Image Helena has been truly twisted. Her form has changed... she has grown demonic... gnarled and horrible. For the first time, I feel fear. But I know what must be done.

Mission 10 - Confront Helena

(Pre-Mission)

User Image We now face the purest form of evil yet. Helena - I believe - is gone. The form she used to inhabit is now being used solely by the Hellspawn for its powers. She has made it clear that she would rather die than return to her home, so we will grant her that wish.

(Mission Start)

User Image I know how you react under pressure too, Helena. I know what happens when you get cornered and afraid... you lash out and hurt yourself in the process. Remember when we met?
User Image You have no idea what you're talking about. Have at you!

(Forced Final Armageddon)

User Image You've awaken a dark fury that hasn't existed within a Hellspawn in centuries. The entirety of the heavens are now working against you, warrior.
User Image The land is shifting beneath our feet!
User Image Let's see if her parlor tricks work as well against my sword.

User Image Killing you was not my preferred option.
User Image So righteous and fair, even when chaos rules everything around you. I shall enjoy taking your life!

(Succubus Helena and her army defeated; Victory)

User Image This wasn't suppose to happen. Mark my words, I will not forget this day. Your kind will rot under my feet.
User Image Your words are empty, Helena. You have proven that much.
User Image You're defeated, Helena. Your army has been wiped out and you lie defeated on the field of battle.
User Image You can defeat me in battle but you will never kill me. We'll meet again, I'm sure, and I'm bringing all of Hell with me.

User Image Helena's army has been defeated but the demon herself lies in wait out there... somewhere. What remains to be seen is whether we've truly defeated the forces of Hell or whether we've merely bought a brief respite. The only thing that's certain is when she comes back... if she comes back... we'll be ready. We'll all be ready.

Mission 1 - The Hellspawn Captive

(Pre-Mission)

User Image An interesting development, my lord. Do you recall Vorax, the sniveling lordling who used to ingratiate himself to you at every opportunity? Well, it seems he’s grown a bit of ambition: he’s wormed his way to the ear of the Hellspawn Overlords and our sources tell us he has designs on taking over your command.

Vorax’s captive is quite a prize indeed; she's not only a high-ranking Avalon agent but also the fiancee of one of their most decorated Heralds - stealing Vorax's captive would thwart his little plot and further your own career.

(Mission Start)

User Image Attack Vorax's minions on sight. Any Hellspawn who would follow such a rank sycophant are unworthy of life.

(Some turns pass)

User Image Humans make the best captives. At heart, they love nothing more than authority.

(When the guards are attacked)

User Image So, you've come for our captive, have you? Kill them all!

(Reaching Agent Helena)

User Image You are not... with the others...
User Image Quiet, you. On your guard, our old friends have sent more company...
User Image No... they must not find me...

(Cataclysms occur)

User Image Curious... that rift scattered Vorax's forces.
User Image Ugh... away with them...
User Image That was your doing? Well, you've certainly spoiled our fun, haven't you?

(If Agent Helena is attacked)

User Image The captive is in no state to fight. We mustn't leave her unattended.

(Bring Agent Helena and Death Dealer to homebase; Victory)

User Image Aha, so there's Vorax's little scheme, he hasn't just captured Helena because she's Corwin's lady friend... it seems she might have some control over these cataclysms. This could make her quite valuable if we can persuade her to our way of thinking, she'd be a powerful asset.

Mission 2 - Precious Cargo

(Pre-Mission)

User Image Well! Our quarry is mostly intact - a bump on the head from a fall, but nothing too serious. Still, she can’t fight alone, so we had better keep her out of trouble. Our next task shall be to twist her mind to accept us as her masters - never too difficult with humans.

We have a darling little outpost nearby, quite inconspicuous. If we can bring her there without attracting too much notice from Vorax’s minions, our rituals will snap her mind like a twig. Perhaps we can find out more about her strange power over these cataclysms...

(Mission Start)

User Image A fine day for a walk, is it not?
User Image Spare me your pleasantries, creature.
User Image I suspect you wouldn't like my unpleasantries.

(Some turns pass)

User Image Ah... that rift... I...
User Image Something the matter?
User Image No... not a thing...
User Image We will find out soon enough.

(If Agent Helena is attacked)

User Image Protect the captive!

(One space from Inconspicuous Outpost)

User Image Almost to your new home! You will find it quite accommodating, I'm sure.

(Agent Helena and Death Dealer reaches Outpost; Victory)

User Image Excellent. Helena is now safe... for the moment... but Vorax's force will surely come knocking soon enough. With any luck, we've bought enough time to perform our ritual and take control of her mind.

Mission 3 - Escape To Achemarsh

(Pre-Mission)

User Image Good news and bad news, my lord. On the bright side, Helena has taken quite well to our ritual and she’s now eager to serve her masters in hell. Wonderful! But, in a bit of bad luck, Vorax’s men have found our hiding place and they’re intent on flushing us out. Perhaps we’d better retreat to the Achemarsh and lose them in the swampy land.

We may not have time to summon our own forces but we do have a fine alternative: a group of human captives, already possessed and under our control, will fight alongside us. How delightfully expendable they shall be...

(Mission Start)

User Image I hope your new orders are clear, minion. You are to serve me now and fight for the glory of hell. Do you understand?
User Image I will fight at your side, master.
User Image Excellent.

(A turn passes)

User Image So, you've mentioned some connection with these rifts, tell me more.
User Image Yes... but I can recall it only vaguely, as though it's a dream.
User Image Perhaps with a bit of focus you could cause one at this moment. Care to give it a try?
User Image I fear that I cannot do it at will.

(One space from Achemarsh)

User Image Ah, the Achemarsh is near... nothing quite like the stench of decay to life the spirits.
User Image My mood is indeed lifted, master. Thank you.

(Reach Achemarsh with Agent Helena and Death Dealer)

User Image Thought you'd slipped by us, traitor? This captive is ours.

(Battle begins)

User Image Enough of this! Helena is ours!
User Image Master! You must intervene!

(After Agent Helena and Lord Of Despair retreats)

User Image Blast it! We can't let Vorax run off with such a fine prize...

(Win surprise battle; Victory)

User Image Hmph. I knew our traipse to the swamp was a bit too easy. I suppose snatching Helena from Vorax's clutches will be a more tedious errand than I thought.

Mission 4 - Disarm The Outposts

(Pre-Mission)

User Image Vorax continues to be a thorn in our side, my lord. Just when we nearly had Helena to safety, he sends his loathsome minion, the Lord Of Despair, to snatch her from our grasp. I propose we pay Lord Of Despair a visit and reclaim our new friend.

The Lord Of Despair has a stronghold nearby, surrounded by guard posts. Unfortunately for him, he’s a fool - if we were only to disable these posts quickly and quietly, we could slip through before his forces notice. But if we wait too long, we’ll be caught, and he’ll bring his full power down upon us...

(Mission Start)

User Image We must spread out and find guard posts as quickly as possible, my lord.

(One turn passes)

User Image Let us not dawdle. If we linger long, the Lord Of Despair will send all of his thugs our way.

(Running out of time)

User Image If we can't disable their outposts in three turns, the Lord Of Despair will set all his forces upon us.

(Outposts taken)

User Image There's the first. Just two more to capture...

User Image Two guard posts down. We must find the last quickly...

User Image Well done, my lord. The third guard post is ours.

(All outposts taken; Victory)

User Image Our path is cleared for a surprise assault, my lord. Now, our best hope is to defeat the Lord Of Despair and snatch Helena away before Vorax comes to claim her for himself.

Mission 5 - First Assault

(Pre-Mission)

User Image We’re within striking distance of the Lord Of Despair. All that remains is to cut down his minions and destroy him - with any luck, we can reclaim Helena before she’s delivered to Vorax’s hands.

(Mission Start)

User Image This is a matter of principle. We cannot let our quarry be stolen after we rightfully stole her ourselves! I've always loathed the Lord Of Despair, slitting his throat will be even more satisfying than reclaiming our prize.

(One turn passes)

User Image Turn back now, traitors! You won't be stealing from us again!

(Defeat the Lord Of Despair; Victory)

User Image It matters not... Vorax has already won...

User Image I admire your trickery but your traitorous game ends here.
User Image But I was only just beginning to enjoy it.
User Image When Helena's cataclysmic power ripens, we shall cast you screaming into the void!

User Image I serve Vorax now. My power shall be his to command.
User Image Ha! You're a fool, Vorax. We both know you're too weak to control such a force. This will be your undoing.
User Image Hold your tongue, whelp. Soon you too will bow before Vorax.
User Image I highly doubt that.

User Image Well! Our friendship with Helena was a brief one... Vorax has now possessed her completely and threatens to turn her powers against us. It may be time to consider a new plan of action against Vorax and his new pet, before they become more trouble than they're worth.

Mission 6 - Rendezvous With Gwydion

(Pre-Mission)

User Image We’ve run into a bit of luck, my lord: we may yet have a chance to bring Helena back to our side. Vorax’s manipulations are powerful; I’ll grant that one of his few strengths lies in possessing the minds of humans, but there may one who can break his spell.

A human priest named Gwydion is a well-known enthusiast of the dark arts and his curiosity has finally corrupted him - he stared into the depths of hell so long that we’ve managed to stare back. We’ve altered his mind to suit our needs and he will serve us willingly.

We must meet him at the ruins of Windmoor Abbey and escort him to the edge of Vorax’s lands. Here’s the most delightful part: Gwydion will be blinded to our true forms; he will see us as human and truly believe we’re fighting to save Helena’s soul.

(Mission Start)

User Image Gwydion is nearby. I cannot wait to see him look upon our faces and recognize us as his dear friends... nothing is more comical to me than a bewitched human.

(After one turn passes)

User Image This will be truly delicious, my lord. Let us see how gravely we can insult Gwydion without him noticing, shall we?

(A unit meets with Father Gwydion)

User Image I've been expecting you, Sir Rufus! Such a treat to see a human face in this wasteland.
User Image Ha! Gwydion, you are truly a pitiable fool. Are you ready to betray your pathetic kingdom?
User Image The pleasure is all mine, Sir Rufus. Let us ride!

(Entering a battle)

User Image Let's send these vile Hellspawn back to the fiery depths!

(Next to Monument Of Bones)

User Image You are a genuine delight, priest. I look forward to flaying you alive.
User Image Wonderful!

(Death Dealer and Father Gwydion reach Monument Of Bones; Victory)

User Image Fine work, my lord. Now, if we can bring Gwydion close enough to Vorax's land, perhaps we can gain a foothold...

Mission 7 - Capture The Portal

(Pre-Mission)

User Image While I would love to take some time to enjoy Gwydion’s hilarious company, I’m afraid we have another task at hand: we must sneak Gwydion into Vorax’s stronghold, where the priest can use his human rituals to capture a portal; once we have a foothold inside Vorax’s territory, we can mount an offensive against our rival and take back our dear old friend Helena.

Our enjoyment will be compounded even further this time: Gwydion will be riding with a small band of humans, all similarly bewitched. Controlling their minds is so easy and yet it always fills me with such joy...

(Mission Start)

User Image Lead on, Sir Rufus! It's a fine day for spilling Hellspawn blood.
User Image I can hardly wait to drain your blood like a slaughtered pig, human.
User Image Well said, my friend!

(Start a battle)

User Image Vorax's men approach. Are you prepared for a fight, you pitiful worm?
User Image For Avalon!

(Near the portal)

User Image The portal is near. Can your ritual secure it?
User Image Of course, Sir Rufus. And then these fiends will feel the justice of Avalon!
User Image On second thought... should I kill you myself or let your own countrymen burn you as a heretic? So difficult to choose!
User Image Ha! right you are!

(Capture portal outpost; Victory)

User Image Now that we've found a foothold within Vorax's territory, we can flood his lands with our forces and finally destroy his feeble army.

Mission 8 - Storm The Stronghold

(Pre-Mission)

User Image At last, a chance to humiliate the wretched upstart Vorax! Thanks to our new pet, Gwydion, we’ve captured a portal inside his territory - all that remains is cut down Vorax’s minions, repossess his captive, and chop him into demonic mincemeat.

(Mission Start)

User Image We must be cautious. Vorax is a worm but not entirely without cunning.
User Image The only good Hellspawn is a dead one, I say. Let us ride, Sir Rufus!

(Six Victory Points acquired)

User Image Wonderful... the traitor has taken our bait.

(Final Armageddon)

User Image Vorax! Hand over Helena at once and we may consider letting you crawl back to the depths.
User Image So, you've brought me another human captive, have you? How kind!
User Image Prepare to taste the steel of Avalon, beast.
User Image Do shut up, Gwydion.

(Vorax defeated; Victory)

User Image Well, that was even more satisfying than I'd hoped. Shall we find Helena?
User Image I believe it's she that's found us...

User Image So, Vorax is dead? You've done me the favor of killing him myself.
User Image Excellent. Well, my dear, shall we be on our way?
User Image Not a chance, demon... I serve no master but myself.
User Image I don't believe I care for your attitude. Gwydion, possess her mind, would you?

User Image By the power of my voice, the demons within are drawn out...
User Image Tell your priest his words have no power over me, demon. You will both die.
User Image My spell has no effect, Sir Rufus. She may be far too gone.

User Image All this bother. Perhaps it would be simpler just to kill her.
User Image I'd love to see you try... Vorax's armies are now at my command, and their first order shall be to destroy all trespassers.

User Image I daresay that I'm beginning to like this new Helena, quite a rambunctious spirit on her. Nevertheless, she seems to fancy herself some manner of demon lord now and intends to turn Vorax's remaining forces against us. Seems as though we're in for quite a battle...

Mission 9 - Weather The Assault

(Pre-Mission)

User Image Since that fool Gwydion’s spells were useless against Helena, I suppose we’ll have to weather her assault. She will summon all of Vorax’s forces to her side, so we must do the same - before our portal collapses, we should bring in the strongest warriors we can muster.

Perhaps once we’ve shown her a substantial whipping she’ll become more amenable to our way of thinking. If not, I suppose we’ll have to destroy her.

(Mission Start)

User Image Vorax's forces will soon be turned loose upon us. I'm sure you'll die quite horribly, Gwydion.
User Image It is an honor to fight by your side, brave Sir Rufus.
User Image If we should survive this, I vow to fill your body cavity with locusts.
User Image For Avalon!

(Beginning each waves)

User Image Attack these trespassers!
User Image Here comes a bit of fun...

User Image Tenacious as a tick, aren't you? My forces will crush you yet...
User Image It's all I can do to stifle my yawns.

User Image I've enjoyed toying with you, but it's time to bring this to an end. Destroy them, Hellspawn!
User Image Glory shall be ours!

(All waves defeated)

User Image Was that it? I thought you were merely practicing.
User Image Enough of your lip. I'll have to kill you myself!
User Image It shall be truly delightful to watch you try.
User Image So be it!

(Mistress Of War defeated)

User Image This is not... the end!
User Image It certainly looks as though it is.
User Image You'll bow before me yet, demon... witness the true glory of hell!

User Image That was a bit unexpected... it looks as if Helena has some surprises in store for us yet. Have I lost my mind or she has taken on a rather more menacing form?

Mission 10 - Confront Helena

(Pre-Mission)

User Image This is becoming quite a spectacle, my lord. Helena’s innate cataclysmic powers have somehow transformed her into quite a new beast entirely - some manner of succubus overlord. Finally, a chance for a decent fight...

I’ve rather enjoyed doing battle alongside this idiotic priest. When this is all over, perhaps I’ll keep Gwydion as a pet.

(Mission Start)

User Image Your tricks don't frighten me, Helena. I've witness every horror imaginable and you're nowhere close to the top of the list.
User Image Soon you will tremble before me.

(Forced Final Armageddon)

User Image Enough of this nonsense! We end this here, demon!
User Image Good heavens... the land is shifting!
User Image Well observed, Gwydion.

User Image Are you sure you wouldn't rather join our side? We'd make quite a pair, you and I.
User Image Hell shall be mine to command!

(Succubus Helena and her army defeated; Victory)

User Image This is not the end, demon. Next time we meet, my power will be too great to comprehend.
User Image She is truly beyond hope, Sir Rufus.
User Image Ah, well. We tried. Either we'll kill her next time or she'll be the death of us all.
User Image All the forces of hell will bow before me one day. Just you wait...

User Image Well, at the very least, it seems we've replaced the wretched Vorax with a much more interesting rival. We certainly haven't heard the last of Helena, my lord... I cannot wait to see what ills she'll unleash upon the world.

Interesting. You can actually get different storylines for different decks? Actually makes things seem more interesting.

Can't wait to get a stable internet connection and try them out.

Well, the primary plot is the same, but the dialogues and some of the contents are quite different depending on the Faction played.

That's what I meant. Should try to be more clear next time. sweatdrop

Still just as interesting. I was wondering when they'd eventually make more Demon-based missions, but it seems that we'll just have missions with the same plot, but different dialogues.

Feels like Dissidia Final Fantasy. emotion_awesome

Quite liking the Hellspawn version because Death Dealer is just hilarious.

Death Dealer is awesome, and I love how Gwydion is either oblivious to him or just doesn't care:

"If we survive this, I vow to fill your body with locusts."

"For Avalon!"
