One-ingredient "Caramel" (And no, it's not sugar)

Today I was trying to make cheese with some leftover whey I had. I thought it'd turn out like a spread, because that's what the recipe I used seemed to imply, but instead it turned out like caramel.

What you need is:
- whey (however much you want)
- big pot (big enough to hold the whey) or a crockpot (I haven't tried using a crockpot, but I probably will next time I make it, because it'll save more power than the stove.
- small buttered pan that you put in the freezer.
you should probably use disposable pans; I don't know how easy it's going to be to get this stuff off. The pot just needed some soaking, but eventually the stuff came off.
Instructions:
1. Put whey in your big pot and boil
2. Once it's at a boil, turn heat to a simmer
3. Wait for the liquid to reduce until its consistency has changed to a thick liquid, then stir it until it thickens even more
4. Once thickened, pour into the buttered pan.
5. If it turns out like mine, it'll harden up and look/taste like caramel (but slightly cheesy caramel)
