People on welfare are depending you!
biggrin

On a more serious and less sarcastic view, this Health Care Reform is a bunch of bullshit. It is unconstitutional and shatters some of our basic rights. Not to mention the fact that, while everyone thinks that its all great and wonderful and revolutionary now, once it really gets going, we are going to be in a hell of an almost-Socialist country. It is damn true. Canada has thing going on, wanna know how well it's working out for them? They have waiting lists for things like MRIs, CT scans, and Ultrasounds. People have died while waiting for procedures. Want that to come around and happen to us? Also, this whole bill pretty much encourages people to be lazy. When you are unemployed or homeless and having taxpayers shelling out the money for your care, you can say, "Hey, the government will pay for it for me, so why should I bother?". Not to mention the fact that the tag "Free" Health Care is a total lie, because it isn't free. Taxes are going to skyrocket, especially if you refuse to follow these services that the government is forcing down your throat. That's what scares me. It's not how much money it's going to cost us that we don't have, it's not even the taxes that get me going. If this happens, it is proving that the government can dictate anything, and it will happen. The first thing will be that they will dictate what foods we are no longer able to eat, and then, who knows what else? What we wear? What religion we can worship? Where does the madness end?

I am praying for the 14 States that are taking this bill to the Supreme Court to win the case and have the bill ruled unconstitutional. If they lose, then we are all screwed, and I am moving out of this country as soon as I possibly can.

Edit! Also! I am loving the fact that this Bill is going to allow the government to order your mandated doctor to kill you. I am not bullshitting you, it is true. They are also cutting eligibility for Special-Needs people and Cancer patients. If you have a terminal illness, you are screwed.

Philadelphia has been trying to get a bill passed that would put a tax on soft drinks in an attempt to get people to make healthier choices. Does that count?

I'm more talking nationwide. Like, one day you'll wake up and McDonalds and BK will be banned.

Some is speculation, and some is straight from the Bill itself.

Oh, right.

I do think it's kind of silly, though.

Only for elective procedures. THey still rely on triage.

The only difference is in the PAYMENT SYSTEM. I have a lot of problems with the bill, mostly because it does nothing to reign in the real cluprits; the insurance system and the lockdown it has state-state.

Because it's miserable living that's stigmatized and dangerous as hell?

Noone said it was.

Okay, this is legitimate.

Conservatives already tried that in Mississippi.

Conservatives did that in Virginia. Check out the low pants laws.

What religion we can worship? Where does the madness end?

So am I. But I'm more patriotic than you as I'll stick with my country regardless.

Hi, I'm not American myself so the finer points of American law escape me. Perhaps you could elaborate for me.

It is unconstitutional and shatters some of our basic rights.

Which basic rights, and which part of the constitution does it break?

Thieving Lunatic

I don't know why there's such a fuss about government involvement in health care. In Canada, yes there are waits for MRIs and the like--unless it's an emergency, in which case there are times reserved. Services are provided based on need, not on particular brands of health insurance or the depth of the person's pockets. Personally, I prefer the system of healthcare that doesn't check my wallet before picking me up in an ambulance.

Oh, and who said that there was no waiting in the US? I know that people have to wait for organs, at least, and who's to say you won't die while that happens?

And what country did you intend on moving to? Canada, England, and Australia all have publicly funded systems of healthcare.

Aged Lunatic

Also, I wonder if the OP actually believes we CURRENTLY have a free market system? That'd be entertaining to know...
I'm Canadian. Ultrasounds take less than a week to schedule. I went to the hospital for stitches 'cause I hit my head.
Took about an hour and a half.

Your media totally blows it out of proportion. I guess my worst experience was waiting about 6 hours to get my arm in a cast. Although it was in a splint so it was alright...
America likes to pride itself on being the best.

So why are you comparing the UHC you want to Canada? We're not the best UHC system in the world, but we're definitely not the worst. If America wants the best health care system, you guys should be comparing yourself to one of the Nordic or Scandinavian countries.

uhhhh.... the government already does that. You HAVE to wear cloths in public, you can't eat food that the USDA says we can't. Religion will never become part of it, because there is a separation of church and state.

bullshit. The only way it will be a socialist state is if congress, the president, and the supreme court completely change the constitution to say that we are not a democratic country, and last time i checked, they are all too busy fighting to even compromise on a god damn bill.

What rights does it 'shatter'? and it is constitutional. Necessary and Proper Clause

Look, not to burst your bubble or nothing, but yeah... try not to rant. People might pay more attention if you actually made a concise point.... i am really tired of hearing s**t about health care. Just shut up and move on... it isn't like ranting on ******** gaia will get Obama to change his mind or nothing....
Are you going to provide anything other than vacuous Republican "EVIL SOCIALISM DESTROYING OUR CONSTITUTION...SOMEHOW!!!!!!!!!"? Because that's pretty much all I see =/
