Welcome to Gaia! ::

unfortunately, people in today's society have been indoctrinated beyond belief.

they have this understanding that the government is there to save you, when that is NOT the purpose of our government. our country was founded upon the basis of democracy. not socialism, which we have been dealing with since obama was elected into office.

those people who want health insurance should get a job and pay for it, just like everyone else. if you want to be a f**king loser, then so be it. but do NOT expect those who work their asses off to come save your a**. unfortunately, obama thinks things should be that way. =/

Creation of assets makes the world go around. Money is completely liquid and has little long-term value.

Assets show that you own something that can be turned into tangible cash.

Because, as previously stated, you need money to buy your gallon of milk.

Aside from the guy quoting himself six times, this is where I stopped paying attention. Because you're extremely wrong about this.

Money, actual, tangible, physical money, has absolutely no value. My $1 bill means nothing. I can't eat it. I can, however, purchase a greasy fast-food burger with it, which I can eat. The $100 in my bank account? Worthless. However, it can be used to barter for electricity. Money is nothing but a barter good. Generally worth little, and much less so now that there's no hard currency backing it up. The dollar used to actually mean $1 worth of gold or silver. Now, that's just not the case. Sure, there are still legal tender notes exchangeable for $5 worth of silver, but 1.) they're worth far more as collector's items than they ever were or will be in pure exchange rate, and 2.) have you seen $5 of silver at our current rates? Good God, you couldn't make a spoon!

I digress. The point here is that money describes value so that one asset can be traded for another. It's a barter system with a middleman, and the green paper is the middleman.
the healthcare bill is nothin but a way to slowly draw us into socialism and the fact that you will go to jail if you dont go by the bill is complete bull,I just think everyone should wise up and search for the truth join newworldorphans.com and join the truth movement and spread it!!long live the revolution!!

Wrong, wrong, ******** wrong. What if you're self-employed? Or a small business who already has to contribute payroll taxes? And how, exactly, does one pay for expensive health care when the only jobs that are hiring are low-paying? How does a family of three pay for health care on $400 a month part time income?

And on the "socialism" crap. You don't know s**t about socialism, or democracy. This country is not a democracy, and it never was. It's not a socialist state, either. Those are just pseudointellectual buzzwords you heard on Faux News, and are spitting at anyone who doesn't move fast enough. Grow up, get a ******** dictionary, and leave this country if you don't like it.

This is so ******** hilarious, and you don't even know it.

Slavery was less expensive than paying people a fair wage for their work. Under the logic of "because it costs money," slaves didn't have a right to ask for freedom.

Completely and utterly false to such a degree of magnitude that it illustrates a prolific ineptitude on your part in all things logical.

Granting people freedom costs zero dollars and zero cents. Okay, so the farmers will have to pay people to cultivate crops. That's not a cost of freedom. That's a cost of running a farm.

Your analogy = fail.

No, it makes perfect sense. If you have slaves, you basically get free work done. If you free the slaves, then you have to pay money in order to get work done. Sure, granting freedom costs nothing, but the results from the granting of freedom (i.e. no longer having slaves to do work for free and consequently having to pay money to others to do work) costs money.

When you say it's gonna happen now,
Well, when exactly do you mean?

I think I would be against healthcare reform if other countries hadn't already done it. Nearly all other developed countries in the world have some form of universal healthcare. If other countries pledge to help their citizens pay for healthcare, then the U.S. should, too.

Also, you make it sound like getting healthcare is so easy. It's not. Insurance companies lay people off as soon as they get a life-threatening illness. Then no other insurance companies will take that person in. Essentially, that person is left to die or go to the ER and subsequently take on thousands of dollars in bills. If all people needed to do was get a job, make money, and then get healthcare, we wouldn't need healthcare reform. People generally aren't lazy; the insurance companies and corporations and higher-ups are just greedy as hell.

See, I've already waited too long,
And all my hope is gone.

so your saying that its a right to be healthly? well thats interesting! lol! I Think GOD never said that it was a right for us to be live or die!! so why is being healthy a right? or are you sick? (in the head? did your mommy tell you to die of being sick?)
Actually, I believe it was FDR who declared that human beings had an inalienable right to health and wellness.

Universal Health Care used to be something that the Republican party supported. And then they decided to be the Grand Obstructionist Party that was only in bed with massive corporate interests. The USA has continued to fall behind in the world, economically, educationally. The US is the only industrialized nation where one can go bankrupt due to medical bills. That s**t doesn't happen in France, Spain, Germany, England, Japan, or China. Socialism, real socialism, isn't a bad thing. And it's certainly not nearly so easy to get a job and pay for medical insurance as it's being made out to be. Having worked two jobs and over 40 hours a week just to pay for room and board and being unable to afford to see a doctor or dentist for over three years, I can attest to that.

I do wonder how all these people who oppose health care can get health care. I suspect that they either benefit from it due to an employer and are already likely to not be affected by it, or they still live with their mommy and daddy and continue to benefit that way, having never had to deal without it.

But that socialism cartoon is win. I'm saving that s**t.

There's such a thing called democratic socialism or a social democracy.

See: most of Europe and Canada.

I'd argue that the working class that does a lot more physical work and can't afford health care works harder than the middle-to upper class who sit all day in an office.

Also, the planet just came out a recession. There are still a lot of people out there who are unemployed simply because the demand for jobs far outstrips the amount of actual jobs on the market.

OP, have yu heard of the Hippocratic Oath, the one that all doctors swear by?
Quote:
The Hippocratic Oath (Modern Version)[10]
“ I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant:

I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow.

I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures [that] are required, avoiding those twin traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nihilism.

I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug.

I will not be ashamed to say "I know not," nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient's recovery.

I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God.

I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick.

I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure.

I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm.

If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art, respected while I live and remembered with affection thereafter. May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help.
