What bothers me about the healthcare bill:

I will be the first to admit that my family does pretty well for itself, and by the bill would be considered "upper class." But does that mean that my parents are part of some big cooperate company that scams for its money? No. Does it mean we are driving around in the most expensive cars and only wearing designer labels? No. Does it mean that my parents worked to get to where they are today? Yes. My parents started out living in my mom's parents' basement with no money and twenty years later have dont pretty well for themselves.

I don't want the money that my parents WORKED for and EARNED to be spent on even higher taxes. These taxes would go toward the healthcare of those who cannot afford it, I understand that. But this bill taxes those who are considered to be "upper class," which nowadays doesn't take that much to qualify for. People who don't work (or can't work) will be receiving my parent's money that they worked for. I understand that some people can't work due to handicaps and need money for healthcare. However, many people choose simply not to work because they are too lazy and on drugs and won't try to get a job. These people would also be recieving my parent's money, and that is something I'm not OK with.

I understand that there are plenty of people out there who truely need help and need money, but that doesn't mean that you can take it away from my family. I know there are people who need it more than us, but there will always be someone like that. I'm going to college in a year, and my sister is in her third year of college. There's one expense that my parents struggle to pay, and something that we really do need money for. In fact we have our own bills to pay and we need that money as much as the next person.

My dad just lost his job in this WONDERFUL economy of ours. We still have bills to pay, and my dad's job was the thing that was really supporting us. The bill will have big businesses spend millions of dollars to provide healthcare to its workers which sound great. However, by having to spend more money on its employees, businesses will fire more of their employees to cut down spending. Thus, making more people lose their jobs.

Sorry it's kinda wordy, but that's all I have to say. Sorry if at any point I sounded selfish, ignorant, or mean to anyone, that wasn't my intent. Don't bash me k thanks.

There is nothing that you said that was wrong, Mooshi, you had a really good steady point. You stated what is going on and what happend to your dear dad. My dad was kicked out of the Navy because they said that they were "downsizing". My dad was really ticked on that, then when he got a new job, they took him in and he worked for them for about a year. Then one day when he went to go to the port that the boat that he was working on was there, they told him that he was fired and they didn't even call him to tell him that there was no point in to driving up there if he isn't going to work. We didn't have that much money and we moved. Now that he has a job, we are doing really good now. But I still argee that it isn't fair to pay really high taxes for some one who isn't willing to work. It is their falt for not choosing a good path.

I'm probly going to start posting winners pritty soon if no one comes over and start postin' the goods and bads about the heathcare bill. And I already know who the 1st place winner is. If you want me to change my mind on that person, come on and post!
Don't want the art, but I'd just like to leave this here.
copypasta from my thread:

Firstly: Canada has socialized health care. they have had it for ages.
Are they communist or socialist, or filled with nazis? NO.
So don't use communism/socialism/national socialism in your arguments.

Secondly: You won't be penalized if you don't use it. If you have your own health care, you can use it. If you don't, you use the freebie.
So don't use "we'll be fined!!1" as an argument.

Thirdly, don't even try the whole Obama/debt argument. Clinton put us into a surplus. Bush not only removed the surplus, but put us into so much debt that he broke the debt clock in NY.
Also, IIRC a few european countries pay $600 or so per person for health care, while the USA would pay a tad over $1k. If we would quit playing world police and stick to our own affairs, I'm pretty sure more funds would be freed.
So don't use the debt argument.

Fourthly, don't be a twit. Spell correctly, source your argument, and don't just blame obama for the sake of blaming obama.

Fifthly: "Countries with universal health care have lines longer than the DMV/bad quality/high prices/low resale value/mold under the floorboards/a leaky transmission/etc"
>_>....this is one of the most commonly used and unsourced arguments out there.
