How is America good for us? Name one thing that hasn't failed yet and still isn't ran by the government?

Er.....US Postal anyone? UPS? Hello?

Police are regulated. Didn't know that?

Fire Department as well....

Public libraries? Definitely regulated.

That's great. Next time your house is on fire, or someone is trying to shoot you, I'll tell the Police and the Fire Department not to come because you don't like the fact that they are regulated.

LULZ AT RANDOM PERSON ON THE INTERNET WHO THINKS THEY KNOW WHERE I LIVE.

Get out. You suck at this game.

Why the heck would I care where you live? For that matter, if you don't live in an area where these services are used, why do you care about this debate at all?

This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the U.S. Department of Energy.

I then took a shower in the clean water provided by a municipal water utility.

After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC-regulated
channels to see what the National Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather was going to be like, using satellites designed, built, and launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

I watched this while eating my breakfast of U.S. Department of Agriculture- inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

At the appropriate time, as regulated by the U.S. Congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and
Technology and the U.S. Naval Observatory, I get into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration- approved automobile and set out to work on the roads build by the local, state, and federal Departments of Transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve Bank.

On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be sent out via the U.S. Postal Service and drop the kids off at the public school.

After spending another day not being maimed or killed at work thanks to the workplace regulations imposed by the Department of Labor and the Occupational Safety and Health administration, enjoying another two meals which again do not kill me because of the USDA, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to my house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and Fire Marshal’s inspection, and which has not been plundered of all its valuables thanks to the local police department.

And then I log on to the internet -- which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration -- and post on Freerepublic. com and Fox News forums about how socialism in medicine is bad because the government can’t do anything right.

Thank you! whee

Eloquent Flatterer

I am so glad you have learned how to twist words. If you read it properly, it is saying that a country must establish, and maintain, a standard of living that will provide all of these things through hard work.

Sorry, Era of Entitlement, reality called. It wants you to wake up.

Nice copy pasta. It's good to know that you cannot discern the difference between "Socialism" and "Capitalism," along with what is "breaking" and not "completely broken, and cannot function properly."

You have the right to go and get healthcare, no one should be able to stop you. However, you do not have the right to demand it from the government. The government does not have to provide everyone with health care. You need to get it yourself, you shouldn't depend on the government to do it for you.

I don't know about that. All I know is there are people here insisting Healthcare is not right. That strikes me as ignorance

I think their argument is kind of missing the point of Article 25, the full text of which is here:

Quote:
# (1) Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.

The only way this can jive with a non-governmental healthcare system is if there is much tighter regulation of the insurance industry versus what we have in the US before the reforms go into effect, and failing that for social services to keep people from falling through the cracks. I don't see how this article allows for someone to be denied coverage thanks to a "pre-existing condition," for example. It effectively calls for universal healthcare, one way or another. Until just now the US was the only 1st world nation not to provide even an attempt at universal care.
Absolutely, healthcare is a human right, and until now, the US has been denying many of its citizens that right.
