Welcome to Gaia! ::

First of all, hello everyone.

(I didn't know where to post this, feel free to move the topic)

I wanted to tell you guys something that is important, it's about the harms of masturbation and pornography on the brain and body.

Contemporary doctors and psychologists usually say it's healthy...let me just tell you this : they DO NOT know what they are talking about, they simply don't have the perspective of a porn addict. Porn viewing is linked to less grey matter in the brain, check the latest research.

I know masturbation very well, and did it for almost a decade, I know what it does to people. And I am here to WARN YOU!

Quitting masturbation and pornography has been the best thing I've done for myself in the last few years. Most people don't realize how harmful it can be. I personally can't believe how much time I wasted on these things. After I stopped I felt so much better it was amazing!

Here are some of the benefits of abstaining from both masturbation and porn for a few weeks :
- Feelings of well-being. Being calmer. Easier to laugh, less anger.
- Feeling MORE pleasure from everyday activities, this benefit is amazing. biggrin
- More creativity. The sense of humor comes back.
- More appreciation for art, music, video games.
- Better memory. Better ability to concentrate. Less brain fog.
- More natural confidence, less social anxiety.
- Easier to give up other addictions (smoking, too much caffeine, gaming, thinking about someone of the opposite sex).
- More motivation to do important things.
- Music becomes more pleasurable. In fact, music tastes could even change.
- Less sleep is needed.
- Easier to talk, less stutter.
- Being able to remember dreams.
- Less sexual problems, better erections.
- Feeling emotions more strongly, like love for example.
- Emotionally more resilient.
- The skin will look younger, less acne.
- More physical strength.
- A deeper voice.
- A stronger immune system.
- Much more attracted to the opposite sex (in a good way).
- More interested in the little things.

Note : Most people who quit get these benefits, but some need more time to be cured.
Note 2 : Beware the withdrawal symptoms in the first few days (irritability, loss of motivation. crying...)

Here are lots of testimonials of people who quit (imo a MUST-READ) : http://www.filedropper.com/0benefits

oh wait.

But seriously, bro.

You're acting like modern psychology doesn't cover addiction, especially to sexual addiction.

Did you just... no... i'm dreaming.
First of all, I want to say I have never tried no-fap for more than 5 days, but here's my take on it. A lot of people say there are insurmountable benefits for no-fap, but then others say its just a placebo.
A lot of people say it's a psychological thing and there are definitely different results for other people.

In my personal experience, I do feel a lot better with some of the qualities in the OP the longer I continue no-fap. I'm on day 3 right now and I don't really have a strong urge to fap and I'm not sure why. It used to be an every day thing, but now i'm seeing much less of an urge. I'll see how it goes. Whether it be a placebo or real effect, i'm seeing more positive things coming from no-fap.

I have the opposite result. I don't feel an itch after not doing it after a while, but I feel a lot better after some me time, especially when I'm under a lot of stress. It's like eating my favorite ice cream.
I don't really need it, but it helps me keep my sanity. : P
I agree with the part you mentioned about having much more time to devote towards other productive activities. If anyone is struggling with this or other addictions or behaviors they want to change, you should check out www.naturalholistichealingapproach.com/hypnotherapy-san-diego-ca/
Thank you guys for your responses..I wanted to sa.yyy
If you say so... I mean I am not going to stop but if you say so. I have to get off some how and since I find the process of attempting to actually obtain a mate to be a complete waste of my time I need some kind of release.
Guys guys guys!

I discovered something that is VERY Important! Masturbation can be the main reason why one gets bullied, and it sometimes it also puts someone in the feared "friend-zone" by their crush.

PLEASE SHARE IT !!!!
Or you get a woman who will do it for you?
If a woman masturbates you to orgasm, it is very different from a self-given orgasm.

I just read this list to my husband, since he gave up masturbation and porn three-four years ago.

He said the majority of it was true. Some of the things he didn't agree with were likely things he was never interested in in the first place, and the sleep, he just seems to sleep all the time no matter what he does.

I figure that no matter where you post this, it's going to get met with negativity (because we're all told it's not harmful, or even good and healthy). So I thought I'd just offer support.

A lot of this sounds like pseudoscience.

A lot of it is facilitated by anecdotal evidence and is incredibly biased.

        Also, correlation =/= causation.

I'm only a health science student so I guess I have no authority, but there is so much wrong with your "benefits" list because all of those things can either be subjective, based on an individual's general health to begin with, or just.. make no sense.

You need to provide me with non-biased, REPUTABLE sources in order for me to consider any of this.

I agree with this.
There needs to be scientific peer reviews done for me to consider any of this as fact.
Most importantly, your "useful links" section is filled with crap.
None of those links have solid evidence.
