Awk moment z!F's come on heatlh!F's turf.
They must be stalking the "My Friends Stuff".
But as a native here, I will give you some good advice.
Depending on the severity and size of the scrape different actions can be taken.
The fact that first and foremost you scraped your said knee in a pool,
can actually be taken in a positive light.
Why?
Due to the fact that pool water contains the chemical "Chlorine".
As we know chlorine is added to pool water to prevent the grow
of bacteria and germs within the water itself.
However on internal or open and exposed wounds, especially
one that is fresh; it will negatively effect you.
It will cause quite a amount of irritation and can lead to infection.
As in open wounds soft tissues and parts of the epidermis
and lower dermis become exposed.
These soft tissues are very sensitive and prone to irritation and infections.
Hopefully you left the pool right after acquiring that scrape.
Though I'm telling you this mostly for future reference as this happens often.
Best action would be to:
-Leave pool and wash out wound immediately with bottled water.
-Clean out with first aid kit. (Cotton Balls, Tweezers, etc.)
-Avoid use of Hydro Peroxide, Iodine, Alcohol.
(They are actually more irritating and will delay healing.)
-Cover with light gauze or bandage. (Make sure it is non-sticking and breathable.)
-When it starts to scab then start using a cream or gel.
-Use a topical antibiotic cream or ointment. (Neosporin, etc.)
-Do not peel scabs or try to pry them off, let it come of by itself.
-During dry scars you can go without a bandage and keep it moisturized
and use a topical antibiotic cream or ointment till it full heals.
-Later on you may use a scar treatment gel or cream if needed.
If you are a frequent swimmer, wait till the scar is dry and in last
stages of healing.
Chlorine is safe for helping heal non-exposed wounds however.
So you wont have to miss out on the fun!
Any light temporary pain you may be feeling atm could simply be due to
to the impact that caused the wound and may have left a soreness or bruise.
If things become serious and pain does not subside and wound
doesn't heal, I would definitely seek medical attention.
Hope this helps!
