Recently I went to the doctor for something unrelated, but my ear was bothering me greatly. I asked if they could irrigate my right ear, because I couldn't take it anymore. It took the assistant about 4 tries, but there was some clear wax stuck on the roof of my ear, she said like it had been packed up there or something. It hurt when she got it, but it was an immediate relief. My ear hurt for the next day, recovering to the new feeling and it hasn't felt this good in about two years.

It could be something you could ask your doctor about. It's really simple for them to do and it could potentially relieve that pain.
