Hi, I thought I might share a couple of my favorite vegan links I've found:

http://healthysurprise.com/
You can have a box of vegan/gluten-free snacks delivered to you monthly. Different sizes and prices. Really cool thing you might mention to your parents if you're attending or planning on attending college wink Also handy if you live in a small town where cool, pre-made healthy snacks aren't really available.

A neat blog full of cheap recipes. biggrin

Thank you ^u^

I've been a vegetarian for 19 years. I can't stand the sight or smell of meat, but I don't tell other people what they can and cannot eat. My husband has meat every day and we never have any problems about the differences in our eating habits. I am slightly anemic but just borderline.

What is your weight?
Do you know how much iron and protein you need daily?
You should get that checked by the doctor for the anemia. It can turn into something bad.

And yea; some people can't do the smell of meat.
Some of it can be overwhelming to me, but not terrible when I'm home.

My weight is normal. I have bloodwork done annually and my doctor says I'm just borderline anemic and that I don't really need to take any iron supplements. I was underweight as a teenager and often had dizzy spells, but I'm 30 now and feel fine.

Normal isn't a number to calculate how much vitamins you need.
I'm 120 and 5'5'' and I need 40g of protein a day.
Calculated by body weight.
Borderline isn't good and you probably need to just eat a little better.
That will make it go away.
I'm 24 and eat extremely well and I have never had any form of anemia.

i luv being a vegetarian. ive been a vegetarian since i was born! emotion_kirakira

nice i may raise my children like that.
all depends on what my husband wants

this is when i get a husband/kid ofcourse

Clearly it's a little way off, but when you get to that stage in your life, talk to a pediatrician or pediatric nutritionist about it, as childhood nutritional requirements are rather different to adult ones -- especially in that little kids need planty of fat! ;p

if this comes off as an attack, i'm sorry, im just irritated about a differant vegan.

do you feel the need to educate/force your beliefs on/attack/ whatever you want to call it, omnivores?

the answer to this will determine if i have any more questions.

No I do not.
My family and boyfriend all eat meat and I do cook for all of them,
Just because I am a vegan doesnt mean everyone else needs to me.

you ma'am are an intelligent person. Theyre needs to be more people in the world like you.

I was a vegetarian pre=vegan.
When I was 16 I contracted a stomach disease called H.Pylori.
It changed the way my acid was in my stomach and
caused me to become lactose intolerant.
So, after my lactose test when I was 18, the
Doctors said that it was a matter of time before
I was full on lactose intolerant.
By 20, it fully hit me and one day I just cut out
EVERYTHING that could possibly make my sick...

Because; I have emetophobia ; fear of vomiting.
And that mixed with my already existing generalized
anxiety disorder...too much acid in my stomach, burning
and causing my more from the lactose as well...it killed me
and made my panic attacks worse.

So once I cut things out, there was a DRASTIC change in
how I felt and mypanic attacks were nulled. It was amazing.
I have been vegan ever since.

A human body STOPS producing the acid to break down
lactaic acids by 2. My children will never drink milk...It is disgusting
and leads to ear infections and too much of that medication
can get stuck in their lower intestines up into adult hood.
They can have cheeses and whatever they please; just in
healthy amounts.

I was a vegetarian for about 4 years,
I thought it was good being vegetarian
I decided to eat meat again but becoming a veg is the best decision ever.

I would do it again any day.

User ImageOne time I read about this vegan who bought some vitamins that had silica shells in it, or something, but only found out about this after the fact.

The vegan, outraged, threw the vitamins away quickly.

Now, I thought about this... If they really care about like, not eating animals, then the damage is done. The vegan had already bought the vitamins, thus increasing the sales of the company. The animals had already died, meaning that nothing could be done about that. So, in essence, instead of finishing the vitamins and respecting that at least the animal had died already, they made the animal's life a complete waste and just threw it all out.

I found this a bit hypocritical, since all of the damage had already been done, I somewhat feel as if they should have finished the vitamins just out of respect of the creature that had already died for them.

I don't know. I'm an omnivore but I at least respect the creatures I eat. How do you feel about this story?
