What do you eat that's just a "grab and go" kind of deal? Cutting so much food out of my diet in such a small time frame, I am having difficulty finding foods that don't contain animal byproducts. And do you know any good cupcake recipes? The only ones I can find require weird ingredients I've never heard of, or tofu which is not available in my area.

Also, why are you a vegan? Is it the dirtiness of the products themselves, or is more about cruelty or bad taste or the like?

At the start of the year I've followed vegetarianism for health/moral reasons, and my sister is concerned I'm not getting enough protein with my change. Her friend, who is extremely devout and a vegetarian, says that she will eat chicken, fish, tofu, etc, etc. I'm just wondering is it viable?

If not what protein can I eat?

Yeah, I don't know why I pick it, either. It used to be cheese before I had to go dairy-free, but now I find cheese absolutely repulsive. ;p What's yours?
Warm, gooey brownies. heart I have an extreme sweet tooth.

Sometimes I make ramen (oriental or chili)n with veggies mixed in.
Add beans too and it makes a lot of food! ;D about 2 meals for me.
I also love stir fried tofu; PM me for some help on that.

WOuld you like a few sites that help with cheap vegan food?

Yeah if you can recommend any sites that would be great biggrin and thanks for the ramen idea. I didn't know chili flavor was okay to eat so, I will have to find that when I go to the store. I used to love ramen. I can switch it up with ramen and veggies and rice and veggies biggrin

How do you feel about honey? I classify myself as vegetarian but I actually don't consume any animal products with the exception of very very local honey. I don't use it to sweeten things I actually use it to lessen my allergies since the bees collect local pollens. The beekeeper is so local that I can drive out to him (15 miles away) and pick up honey directly from him. There's a lot of controversy in veganisim about the consumption of honey. I get both sides I really do but I lean towards the 'it does harm them'.

The one argument is that it doesn't hurt the bees because you're not actively taking the honey out of them (like milking a cow etc) and you don't really cage them because they need so much space to collect pollen, essentially you just give them a place to put it.

The rebuttal is that you are causing them harm because sometimes the bees die when the slats are being taken out of the boxes and you're also depriving them of their food source. Honey = bee food even though it's bee vomit.

I've been called a beegan (which I think is ridiculous because I don't classify as vegan just because of the honey thing.) And again I do it for my allergies. (I'm not gonna lie it's a delicious way to introduce truly local pollen into my system) Because three years of allergy shots didn't help my pollen allergies but local honey does. I like being able to see when I bike somewhere because my eyes aren't doing the Niagara falls thing.

I'm just curious as to your thoughts on it.

I know some vegans that are for and against it.
I don't mind honey tbh.

Bees can kill me...I'm that allergic!
>.< So *giggle* I don't m,ind a few lost flying death insects.

Hey everyone!

I've been Vegan for around 3 years now, It's actually geared me towards eating healthier and having more respect for my body than I ever had before(I used to eat Fast-Food about 5 times a week), both physically and spiritually I'm feeling much better.
Some major inspirations for me have been the books Skinny b***h and Eating in The Light and the movies Earthlings, The Beautiful Truth and Forks Over Knives.

I don't eat Honey because I have a tremendous respect for bees and I simply feel I don't "need" it, I think some things that human beings "need" even if animal-derived are acceptable, like medicines and other necessities but things that are more frivolous for taste or indulgence I can't excuse myself for partaking in, which is why I don't wear leather and I use specific beauty products.

My family and my SO are omnivores and I've simply started to incorporate MORE fruits, vegetables and grains in their diets instead of LESS meat, if you concentrate on emphasizing the benefits of Veganism instead of shaming someone for their beliefs you get much better results.

But I've also had a lot of people simply shun me away for referencing my lifestyle but mostly that's been on the Internet because IRL people can see I'm pretty laid-back about it quickly and become supportive.

Skinny b***h is awesome.
I sat next to a lady, pre-vegan me, and she was reading it and recommended it to me.
I don't eat honey in my teas or cook with it. But I won't mind if it is in something.
Again; bees, to me, are FLYING DEATH! D:

My family are omnivores; my mother being more meatatraian xP, but I don't mind cooking for them at any cost. Even for my boyfriend.

Being in Southern Cali, no one really shuns being a vegan. There are SO MANY vegan restraunts that I go to with my omnivore friends...and they love it.

People shun us because they think that we are going to push the our food beliefs on them.
I hope that isn't the case with you razz

What is your weight?
Do you know how much iron and protein you need daily?
You should get that checked by the doctor for the anemia. It can turn into something bad.

And yea; some people can't do the smell of meat.
Some of it can be overwhelming to me, but not terrible when I'm home.

My weight is normal. I have bloodwork done annually and my doctor says I'm just borderline anemic and that I don't really need to take any iron supplements. I was underweight as a teenager and often had dizzy spells, but I'm 30 now and feel fine.
