Dobby should've been there. . .
He'd kick butt. . .
Draco should have sobbed when he saw Harry was dead, and confessed his love to him the next day.
I think that it should have been during the full moon and Lupin and Greyback should have had an awesome battle where Lupin wins and kills Greyback.

Draco should have sobbed when he saw Harry was dead, and confessed his love to him the next day.
I wanted to see Rita and Umbridge kick some a** in the final fight, even though doing so goes against both of their entire characterizations. I wish we could've gotten to read about/watch more of the more minor characters' battles, too, like Slughorn and Pomfrey and co.
Lupin should have lived. And Arthur should have died.

crying
Fred shouldn't have died. Perhaps another older Weasley brother, but not him.

Lupin and Tonks should have survived.

Draco should have confessed his love for Harry/Ron/Hermione.

Snape shouldn't have died. He should have been the hero of the whole thing, together with Harry.

Dumbledore should have come back to life or something... Maybe his ghost?

I think it should have played out exactly as it did. Why? Because Rowling is a bloody genius and while every single death tore at my heart, that was the whole point of it. It was a battle. People die. That's why the good guys generally try to avoid open war - people die in wars.

Every time a country go to war, hundreds or even thousands of Freds die.

However, I do wish that there had been some kind of scene where Harry gives Draco's wand back and makes some kind of comment on their part in the war.

And Theodore Nott. I've heard that there is a scene between Nott and Malfoy that Rowling tried to implement two times in different books and it would have been great if more had been revealed about him. Was he a death eater like Nott Sr? Why didn't he bother to bully Harry and his friends? Where was he during the battle? Which Slytherins fought on what side?

We'll probably never know emo
Despite the fact that I disliked book 7 greatly, I think the battle was perfect. The only change with the movie that's needed is VOLDEMORT SHOULD NOT EVAPORATE! and neither should Bellatrix, but his death bothered me more.
The problem here is far too many here wanted to see everything end just perfectly for the good side with all the good guys surviving or coming back and everything gets tied off in a happy ending. war does not allow that, and those characters were in a war. A story with the perfect happy ending is boring, in my opinion.

If I could have picked something to see, I would have loved it if Madame Maxime would have been there to fight alongside Hagrid and the Hogwarts defenders.

Movie-wise, I would have loved to have seen the Pomfrey-dark witch duel up close or Krum and Neville's grams in action.

I second this.
In the books, evaporating Voldemort = his soul is off to parasite somewhere else in the world. We even saw it in the first film, evaporation = he's not really dead.

In the books people get to see his corpse and it can be confirmed that he really is gone. He's a cold, stiff body, just like any other mortal.

And while Rowling didn't write it, it would give vengeful survivors a chance to defile his corpse. I mean, who wouldn't want to give him a good kick after that war?
