Well, I'm glad its not just me then. I want Pottermore to be so much better than it is. But as is stands, there are so many problems that need to addressed. Hopefully, eventually, it will be as awesome as it was said to be. Because I know the promotional videos (with the book/paper art) were amazing. I was so excited to sign up and then there was J.K. saying I was about to get sorted...... and it all just sort of bombed out after that. I have very high hopes that it will improve though, but for now... its just not that special.

Also, I really don't like that whole not picking your own username business either. I understand why they would do that, but seriously... I wanna be Zane not MistKey60 O.o

The username part is so true, or at least give us choices- like, they give you 10 words for the first word of your username and another 10 words for the second word, and you can type in your own number. Just more variety in general.

Only thing I'm looking forward to is the 3rd book, because we will probably get a Patronus Quiz or something.

Not going to lie, I've been freaking bits over the idea of a Patronus Quiz.
Also, yay fo' Slytherins. (:

Whenever I was just PRACTICING making potions to get comfortable with it, it would tell me that I had put in too many Porcupine Quills in Cure for Boils. It's like sometimes you have to put in two quills, and then the other time just one quill will count. I'll still encounter this problem with different potions, so I'm always constantly checking my recipe to make sure if it's crossed off or not. What is this nonsense.

I have faith that Rowling and the Pottermore team will make it more enjoyable for the users though, especially if they realize the demographic is much older than what they presume.
Yep, with my Cure for Boils, I can rarely even get past this first part, because 1) My cauldron's temperature wasn't right? or 2) The amount of Snake Fangs I put in was wrong...even though that's not true lol.
And are they ever going to unlock the rest of the spells for the first years?

Yep. Potions seem to be the brunt of the bugs, at least IMO. Especially when it comes to measuring items. If they're going to give us instructions to follow, the least they could do is follow them also.
But nothing can fuel my anger more than that horrible chat system. DAMN IT ROWLING, I just want to be able to type out numbers in a chat!
I also agree with your previous statement about making dueling more rounded. Wouldn't it be much more fun if you were given a spell at random? That way no one would stick to just Petrificus Totalus, but would have to practice each spell. smile

Edit : I don't know what the majority of those spells are doing in the spell book...But besides the ten you can duel with, they don't look Offensive. We are probably going to have to use them in the later books though.
So far, I think it's okay. I can't wait for the other books to be unlocked, especially The Chamber of Secrets. I want to get to the Basilisk part.

The only problem I have with the site is the fact that I'm terrible at using my touch pad on my laptop to brew potions and do spells. Because of this, I often ran out of time just brewing a Cure for Boils.

And I'm still confused on the dueling. I'm still stuck on waiting on an opponent. I hope it doesn't take too long, 'cause I can't stay online forever.
To be honest, I was completly excited for Pottermore to open to the public, and then i finished the first book. The only thing that I find enjoyable on there are making potions, and even spells. Everything is like, Wth...
I do hope they have a patronus quiz because that would be amazing smile
I totally agree on the chat aspect of it because I wrote that "Slytherin was the best house!" (Slytherin all the way!) and it sent me an owl saying this comment was reported, and must be moderated. Tell me, what is bad about that statement?! Ugh >.< Hope this site gets better :/

There was nothing wrong with your statement, someone from a different house probably just reported it to get it taken down. I'm looking forward to a Patronus Quiz as well. I really think that it will get better, but not for a while. A few more books need to come out first. I really enjoy the extra book content though, there just wasn't enough of it smile

The lack of communication between the users kills it. They should add different chat rooms for each house and other chat rooms for all the users. Also, the fact that the other books haven't been published it makes the site get a little boring after you finish the first book.

Aside from that, I'm enjoying Pottermore a lot. Although I suck at making potions, I give my house points by dueling.

The things that I'm disappointed in
1. The "chat" system, if that's what you would really like to call it. I don't like having to wait four minutes just to see if my message went through. Also, I understand that private messaging is out of the question to protect the younger children online, but at least give us the privilege to respond to somebody personally in the Common Rooms or Great Hall. When people ask questions or need help with finding something in the book, it would be great to give them a proper response. Not to mention all of the people role playing in the Great Hall would greatly appreciate it to keep their RP more organized.
2. The bugs. Seriously Pottermore? I've been waiting since October for you to open up to the public, and in that time you haven't gotten your s**t together? There will be times where my potions just randomly disappear from my Notices while I'm dueling. Not cool when you're brewing Sleeping Draught for 70 minutes. sad There will also be times where I will queue for a random duel, and a screen showing two other peoples duel scores will pop up. WHAT. IS. THIS.
3. Lack of ways to earn galleons. Even though I kind of understand the reason behind it (people would just farm galleons and stock pile potion ingredients), what do you expect me to do when I run out? Just sit there and hit P T F C L T S for forever?

Things I'm happy about
1. Dueling. Even though it's a rather simple strategy, I really like the idea that even if you have 100,000 house points from dueling, you can lose by one point to someone with like 20. It's all about how much attention you're paying, and really brings out your competitive side.
2. Potions. Again, something that's really simple, but can be screwed up so easily. I can forgive the average hour wait time because no matter how many potions I've brewed, my heart always beats a little faster when I see my timer hit the 10 second mark, or if I almost go over the temperature limit. Dueling and potions in general are just fun for any age, and I think Rowling and the Pottermore team did a good job on making it that way.
3. Book interface. The Flash work that was put into this is gorgeous. Mad props to the artist(s) who made it all possible. It's a bit saddening because you just want more chapters and more moments. I also really love how you can't see any of the characters faces directly, allowing you to still use your imagination even with all of the beautiful graphics.
4. The new information in the books. Most people duel while they're waiting for there long potion timer to finish brewing; but I've slowly been going through the book and reading everything I possibly can about every character possible. It's a little sad, but with all of this new information it makes me love my favorite characters more (McGonagall) and feel pity for those that I've overlooked (Quirrel).

TL;DR - It needs work but I'm glad I'm playing.

I completely agree with this!

I am sad that I can't talk to my friends on the site. emo I guess it's something one assumes will exist in the age of social media. A lot of the fun of HP is discussing it with other fans, so Pottermore feels a bit lonely in that respect...

I like dueling, though I agree that it's annoying that the only way to be very successful is to use Petrificus Totalus.

Potions and my computer do not go together well, so I've pretty much given up on that front.

I really enjoyed the wand and Sorting quiz, and particularly the huge list of wand wood properties. heart So interesting. I hope there really will be a Patronus quiz, that would be awesome... emotion_kirakira

I was also a beta. At first I thought that Pottermore would be this fantastic thing that we would play awesome games, chat with other members, play quidditch, duel like you do in the video games and many more things. At one point I even thought that it would be kind of like gaia, where we could take little avatars and walk all around Hogwarts (silly though, I know) but when I got there, I did the 1st book so fast I ended up asking myself "that's it?" cat_confused

Then I saw you could still make potions and duel (even thought I stink, and I'm talking about training.) So I see there are still things you could do. Also the drawings are beautiful! emotion_bigheart

I was thinking that I'm still glad Rowling did this, as you guys said, she didn't have to do this for us yet she still did. I'm glad we can still be a part of new Harry Potter things even though the books and movies ended emotion_kirakira

It would be wonderful to have a world to walk around in Pottermore. Gosh. Now that idea is in my head. That would be so great! You could walk around in the castle and go to classes and things. Actually walk around your common room. And you could sneak into the forbidden forest and battle creatures and things. Make your own Hogwarts experience while you read about Harry's. Fantastic idea. I wish they would do that.

I quite like it... I dislike the username thing though, it kinda sucks. :c

The art's gorgeous, and the activites are fun too. I'm getting slowly better at Potions, I like the fact that it's a challenge!
I actually have to resort to writing the instructions down on paper for quick referral when making potions.

see? that's what I'm talking about! walk around Hogwarts and Hogsmade. Into classes and the common room. being able to chat with other classmates and such. I really though Pottermore would be some kind of virtual game, then I realized that they never said virtual game. It would still have been more fun. Right now the only thing I can do is try to make potions, and root for my house on the great hall.
After 6 months of waiting for Pottermore to open to the public, I expected a bit more. Don't get me wrong, it was fun at first, and the art is amazing. But after you get through the first book, there isn't really much to do except cast spells and make potions. There should be more mini-games, like growing your own plant in Herbology or Quidditch. A safe chat system and real customizable avatars would be nice too!

The Potion is a bit frustrating. Sometimes it hard to picking up the ingredients item from off the table while some items you can before the hourglass is on count down.

I agree with you, Pottermore has a bad case of lack of content disease. I mean they should add the next book and more content. So many people are getting really tired. It's very disappointing.
