Funny thing words. They mean so many different things in different languages.
That article was, as far as I could see, completely from an American perspective with no mentioning of whether the term muggle was used in the same way in Britain. Because Harry Potter and it's author is, in fact, not American and thus doesn't have to consider American terminology.

So while mildly interesting in the same way SOPA means "trash" and ACTA means "beware" in Swedish, it doesn't really feel relevant to anything.


Like how they call fries chips and chips crisps.

Exactly, like pants are trousers and underwear is pants. There's also the matter of whether "rubber" means eraser or condom. I recently learned that "jumper" refers to a completely different kind of shirt in American English than in British English (where it refers to what Americans call "sweater" ).

Given all this, I wouldn't really be surprised if American wizards would call their muggles something different. rolleyes
(or not, who knows)
