Welcome to Gaia! ::

Hmmm... Saddest? Hedwig probably. I mean, honestly? Blowing up the owl in the first fifty

Though there were some that were just downright depressing.
Lupin, Tonks and Colin Creevey for example.
COME ON. User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Heartless, killing them.
And they all had to share, what, one sentence about their deaths?

The only death I cried for while reading was Dobby's. I think J.K. Rowling wrote it really well, and the "Here lies Dobby, a free elf" thing really got to me.

But I cried later when thinking about Fred's death, because you can't just kill off a Weasley twin!!
And I thought about how hard it would be on George after the war, having to live without his twin brother and best friend. He has to go back to a joke shop of all things. And imagine him passing a mirror and thinking for a split second that Fred was back, but realizing that it was only his reflection.. sad

I also heard somewhere that Rowling killed Hedwig early on because otherwise, it would be too easy for the trio to communicate with other people while they were camping. So no Hedwig means no contact with the outside world.

Hedwig's death was sad, but it wasn't completely pointless.
I would say Fred.

Reasoning? Sirius, Lupin, Tonks, Moody, Hedwig: They were characters then BAM! Dead. None of these bodies we saw. We just know they died. Sirius and Hedwig, we see get hit by a curse first, but then they disappear.

Colin and Dobby? We see their bodies, but it's not exactly described in detail.

Dumbledore and Snape? We see their deaths and see their bodies and though it is described, the visualization isn't AS strong.

Fred dies in front of our eyes, unexpectedly. On top of that, we have vivid imagery. The sketch of a last laugh on his face or something. Then we have Percy who has just joined their side crying, holding his dead brother's body. Knowing that they will not have the chance to reconcile. That to me is just heart wrenching.

Severus Snape, his death really touched me because what he stood for. He stood for keeping Harry ground, the constant in his life that never changed. I loved his story and his dying words really got to me!
REMUS.

His life is so depressing. Turned into a werewolf at age 5, rejected by the entire wizarding world- except for his friends, WHO HE LIVED TO SEE DIE. And then that whole horrible marriage to Tonks when he really wanted Sirius. ( smile )

I cried when he died. I love Sirius just as much as him, but I didn't cry.

Dobbys death was a freaking celebration.

I STILL get teary-eyed over every single death in the series. However, Fred's death was the most tragic one for me. crying
I've only ready up to the sixth book, so Dumbledore.
