I think all the deaths were sad, but they didn't have to kill Lpin and Tonks both. They had a baby. Harry won't know how to take care of his god child at first, especially not a baby.

All the deaths were really sad to me. Dumbledore's death made me cry, but Sirius dying was the saddest one. Not only because he dies but Harry loses the only closest "family member" he had left crying

Sirius' death was the saddest, even if I hate the character.
Because before him, the only people who died were characters who hadn't played a big role.
He was the first major to die, and it paved the way for the rest of the series.
After him, you were expecting deaths.
Perhaps not as much as actually occured, but you expected at least one a book, and several more in the end.

I was sad for Severus, and I hated Bella's, but you knew it was going to happen, so it was okay.
Even Dumbledore was expected, since he was the leader of a side.
Freds would have been sad, were it not a "Rocks fall, everyone dies" situation.
And Hedwigs was too WTFish.
