I'm not sure that Dobby's death was the saddest but when Harry was burying him was probably one of the, if not the saddest, part in the whole series.

When I first read that Fred was killed, I literally jumped up off my bed and shouted, "WHAT! WHY, J.K., WHY?" gonk

To be quite honest, Snape's death hit me the hardest. I actually had to put the book down and take a big long cry D: It seems as though every sing thing in his life was unfair, and every single thing was sad. I feel even his death was that way. crying
