I joined the other day, after waiting two days for my acceptance letter (email).
I'm a Hufflepuff. Although I've seen lots of Hufflepuffs getting upset that they were chosen, it seems to me to be a very honourable and friendly house emotion_bigheart
And I'm perfectly happy to be in it.
My wand is a 10-inch laurel with phoenix feather; bendy. I'm pleased with this as well!
And I'm decent at dueling, but as so many people have figured out how to get really good at it, and I've yet to mess up a potion... I think it's better for me to stick to practising duels so I don't lose us too many points. I'm turning out to be quite the little potions master, though. I splurged and got the decent copper cauldron. The other is apparently even better, but I couldn't stand the pewter anymore and want to save up for lots of ingredients as I think I'll be brewing more and more often.
I've heard all sorts of terrible things about cheating and sabotaging houses... I believe it. I've seen Slytherins and Gryffindors alike boasting about cheating, and heard lots of people talking about how they made another account to get in the house they wanted ((generally called "the house I deserved/was supposed to be in/clearly am" by such people)) and use their first to sabotage the house they didn't want ((which, sadly, appears to usually be Hufflepuff)).
I've heard the least reports of cheating coming from Hufflepuff. I'm trying very hard not to be biased as I research this, but I simply can't find any. Perhaps our cheaters just don't boast about it as much. But this causes me to wonder... are the current house point levels accurate?
I've heard that many accounts are being suspended for cheating, but I haven't heard if their points are taken away as well, although that seems to me to be the fair thing to do.
But in any case, I would like to encourage every single person on Pottermore who reads this-- and our lovely future first-years-- to please, please, PLEASE do not cheat. It's really sad to me that anyone would cheat for the house cup, especially as house points are traditionally awarded for exemplary and honest behaviour!
Ah well. Pottermore has been a wonderful experience thus far. I encourage any fan who hasn't yet signed up to do so at once!
And if you get into Hufflepuff and are upset about it as you considered yourself a Ravenclaw or Gryffindor or Slytherin, please just stick around for a while, give us a chance! Even if we don't win the house cup this year, I promise it's a wonderful house. It's grown on many people and I think for the most part there isn't a prouder or lovelier group of badgers to be found anywhere else.
