Helga Hufflepuff was a sweet, charming woman from Valley Broad who had red hair and blue eyes. She had a gift for food-related charms and is said to be the master-mind of most of the food served at Hogwarts.

In school, Helga didn't just "take all the rest"--I mean, she did, but they had to be willing to work hard, be loyal and honest. She valued honesty and equality.
Those are the traits of a true Hufflepuff.
