i'd also like to guess the riddle, stereoblind! i'm going to say snape, and ive got most of it reasoned out:

I was the bane of Dark Wizards
Snape has been working against Voldy ever since Lily was threatened, and by playing his part to take down Voldy, he, in turn, would be taking down Dark Wizards by connection.

I was the head of the pack
He was Voldy's right hand man, his most trusted servant and unofficial head of the Death Eaters

Now I pace forth slowly
With a great weight on my back
Snape knows he has to kill Dumbledore, even thought he desperately doesn't want to.

Do not let my appearance fool you
He may appear to be a Dark Wizard, working for Voldy

Do not assume I am deaf
Various teahcers/students/othermagicalpeople ask questions and demand to know why he would do such things (i.e. kill dumbledore, serve voldy, etc.) alas, he gives no answer - but he does hear, and he does feel the burden of the accusations

And do not pity me because
I died a hero’s death.
he died at the hands of Voldy, but in his life he had done all he could to protect the son of the woman he loved.

i believe a new riddle is in order to celebrate the premier of HBP
of course the riddle would be about snape, he is the half blood prince after all!

It sounds like Lupin to me:
Bane - wolf's bane
pack - wolves again,
pacing - wolves yeah
great weight - being a werewolf and father
appearance - because he transforms and because he seems poor
as far as deafness I'm not sure why it applies but I think it does nonetheless
heroes death - fighting against the deatheaters

our whole theater was crying... you could tell, everyone was sniffling. except those stupid girls who gigggled the whole movie...

I got a little teary-eyed and sad when Dumbledore was drinking the potion.
After he died though, you could hear people sniffling in my theater too.
It was so fun to go to the midnight showing though, it was so great~!!

I think this one was better than the 5th movie.
And funnier. Ron and the love potion was funny, as was Harry and Felix.


Anyways, I think Lupin seems like a good guess for this riddle.

{I just watched the movie as well. My favorite part was when Harry had drank the Felix Felicis potion. It was hilarious. I couldn't stop giggling.}

Yeah, my boyfriend (who only read about half of the book) thought that Snape saying it like that was kind of...blah.

Bellatrix was really great at the end though, prancing about and cursing things.
