HOLY CRAP THE THREAD EXPLODED WHILE I WAS AT SCHOOL! Sorry about that, Aqua! I loved the riddle, and here's my reasoning:
Enter now the reign of change
Take our lives and rearrange
We shout our defiance to the skies
As we rebel against morbid lies
Harry, Ron, and Hermione are growing up. They've always lead exciting lives, but now they're really about to be uprooted - Ron and Hermione have left their families, Hermione's have had their memory modified, and most of Ron's family didn't even know he was leaving. Harry is about to give up everything to destroy Voldemort. The Hogwarts students are leading different lives, too, now that Snape is Headmaster.
Many students, plus Harry, Ron, and Hermione are openly opposed to this new regime, and they're trying to do all they can to bring the entire truth to the surface.

Secrets discovered, secrets lost
But all at a worthy cost
For how many more would have died
Had not we sacrificed?
Secrets were discovered about the Dark Side. Secrets were also discovered by the Dark Side about the Light Side. Many people died in the process of uncovering these secrets, but many more people would have been killed if the Light Side hadn't fought back.

And in the end we got our goal
For the darkness has had its toll
Courage delivered us of our torment
Love will save us in our lament
In the end, the Light Side won the war, but not until after the Dark Side had really made an impact. Everyone's courage, especially Harry's and Neville's, saved the Light Side. "Love will save us in our lament" refers to the series' theme that love saves all.

And that's my extremely long, super-vague reasoning.

As for the riddle. I guess it's alright for you to post, but you should have waited until the last riddle was complete. So you should have waited until Mo0nflower had provided the reasons for the last riddle before posting a new one. It's just too confusing.
