Yay! I finally got one right!
I'll take a stab at the reasoning.

Backwards, turn backwards,
O Time in thy flight;
Harry and Hermione had to use the time turner to go back ...
All that was wrong
Can now be made right.
... to clear Sirius Black's name.

A father returns
From that echoless shore
And brings to his child
Protection once more.
Harry's patronus takes the form of James' animagus, protecting him from the dementors. And initially Harry thought the patronus he saw was actually James back from the dead.

The first shall be last
And the last shall be first;
Unsure about this bit. Maybe filler?
The innocent one's punishment
Needs must be the worst.
A reference to Sirius being scheduled for the dementor's kiss despite him not actually being guilty.

Through long months of trial
And hours of pain
The child shall rise up
As a savior again.
The patronus is a difficult charm to work and Harry had to endure quite a bit of anguish (he heard his mother I believe) whenever he practiced but he manages to learn so he rises up to save Sirius and his friends.

The first one successful,
Though far from the last--
Called up from the future
To save in the past.
Harry's first successful full bodied patronus was cast when he realized that he'd been the one he'd seen cast it in the future, not James.

Backwards, turn backwards,
O Time in thy flight;
Come cast away sadness
With your beautiful light.
And naturally the patronus chases away the dementors which cause you to feel as though you'll never be cheerful again.
