Oh goodness, I love the 80s pop culture. Movies, music, etc. It's all so fun! whee
My drill team instructor used to say I was her 80s girl, most likely b/c I had a habit of randomly moonwalking during practice.

Yes lots of fun!
Lol, I wish I could do the moonwalk...

It took me a couple of years of dancing around in the kitchen with socks on to get it down. It's probably the only "cool" dance move I can do.
User Image
Lol
I can't dance, period
But I still have fun at our school dances...

School dances were the worst for me. My favorite part of prom was the fact I got to wear a pretty dress. I think at my senior prom the only song my boyfriend and I truely danced to (rather than the slow dancing songs) was Bohemian Rhapsody. We totally rocked out to that. whee
I'm good at jazz and balletish stuff, which is of course no help on a dance floor at this day and age where hip hop rules. gonk

I have a sense of rythm but that's about it...
I used to take ballet and almost went to a ballet school full time but we moved here instead...
Which I'm pretty glad about actually...

oh prom! junior year I didn't have a date and went with a bunch of friends that did, so that sucked. Senior year I went with a friend. He was like 4 inches shorter than me. stare It's not really a superficial thing, it's just hard to dance with someone that much shorter. Also, somehow the boys took over the planning, so my best friend (EnelyaElaness) and I didn't get to hang out together before prom. Her boyfriend decided they were going to dinner with some of his friends, whom she didn't like. My date decided we were going to church for dinner. evil I'm not christian. I was not happy... At least my dress was cool. rolleyes It was a sort of tropical blue color halter corset top with a slightly fluffy flowy skirt. It looked like a two piece, but it really wasn't.
I went to both my junior and senior prom with my current boyfriend. But neither of us really like to dance, me more so than him, so we just sat around. First time around that wasn't so bad, since we had only been dating for a couple of months, so we got a chance to talk and look pretty together, which was cool, and that was the one Lorn actually went to so we got to bug her, since she likes to dance even less than I do. Second time it was kind of boring though, so boring teh gaidin set up a seance with pieces of the table centerpieces. I swear I can't take him anywhere.

And my junior prom's dress was amazing. It was all black and clingy, so for once in my life you could actually see I have a figure, which is hard to tell in normal clothing which is always too big.
It's hard to dance with a guy that's about 6 inches taller than you too, unless you stand on top of his shoes. whee heh. I'm such a cheater.

that's awesome! my junior prom theme was arabian nights, which was actually much cooler than it sounds. My senior year was "a night in Paris" or something which was actually not as cool as it sounds. We stole lots of plastic rings 'n coins outta the little treasure chest centerpieces junior year, but senior year, there wasn't much to nab. The snacks were better though! Lots of eclairs and cream puffs. blaugh

One of the great things about going with a guy that was just a friend is that it was okay to not dance with him every dance. I think I only danced with him like 4 times or something. Most of the time I just hung out with my friends and he hung out with his. It actually worked out pretty well!
la de da de da...I wonder when the results are going to be posted? I hope it's soon!

Neither of my prom themes were very good, Masquerade and Heaven on Earth or something silly. The first had sooo much potential, but the commitee sucked that year. There wasn't anything to nick either year as well, there was just a lot of candles and confetti for my boyfriend to set fire to. Although last year he did manage to filch himself at least 5 champange glasses and 3 beer steins by stuffing them in his pockets and randomly finding it nescessary to go to the car. rolleyes Did I mention how I can't take him anywhere?
lol that's awesome! I have a friend whose fiancee has a thing for cloth napkins. Every time they go to a restaurant with cloth napkins he has to steal one. He's got a whole collection of the things!
For the Record What is all yalls favorite 80's Movie && 80's song/artist. Eh?
well for movies made in the 80s my favorite is most definately The Princess Bride, which coincidentally is my favorite movie/book EVER (it's a risk admitting this in the HP sub, but whatever). Although Victor/Victoria, The Breakfast Club, and Dirty Dancing get very honorable mentions.
As for song my favorite is Holding Out For a Hero, by Bonnie Tyler. Pre-gaidin time I would've told you it was my theme song. Here, I have to give shout-outs to both Jitterbug by Wham! and Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield, b/c I am known for rocking out to those in my car while by myself.
As far as artists go I am going to have to be real crazy and admit that I really like Michael Jackson, but I'm a recovering dancer, so that's probably why. Last year a group of us on my dance team danced to Thriller for one of our shows, which also doubled as our final exam in the class, since we had to choreograph it ourselves. It was soooo much fun. whee
