Welcome to Gaia! ::

I like Ginny. Harry got to know her by hanging out with her at the burrow. I can't remember which book, but in one of them he makes the comment when they get back to school that they usually don't hang out there. It showed his starting to like her. As to her character development and Mary Sueness, remember whenever Ginny is talked about it is from Harry's point of view. Most of the time he he is with Hermione and Ron so we don't see what is going on with Ginny or how she is dealing with what happened to her in the Chamber of Secrets. Also because it is from Harry's point of view of course she seems perfect, to him she is.

She's decent as her own character, but horrible for Harry.

I have a theory he's into incest. He only notices Ginny when he gets closer to the Weasley family, who he sees as family anyway. That and he falls for someone who looks just like his mother. .

But still, I don't like her.

More scenes where its confirmed that Ginny's beating herself up figuratively over what happened back in the Chamber of Secrets wouldn't hurt, really.

You get a tip for the theory, regardless of whether or not its even partially correct, actually.
Mainly because I saw a parallel somewhere in the BlazBlue universe with Ragna the Bloodedge + Noel Vermillion, as WickedREMY might have noted, except Noel looks like Ragna's sister Saya rather than his mother. sweatdrop
I don't recall why, either. xp

Why do such parallels tend to happen?
We need more people to discuss this thread.

Marrying someone who has the same hair colour as your mother is not incest. Seeing as Harry Potter is not an anime, there's only so many hair colours to go around. Two redheads does NOT look "just like" each other just because they are both redheads.

Are you saying that all black people who marry each other are incestuous for marrying people with the same colours as their family members?

Lily and Ginny doesn't even have the same shade of red hair!

Let me demonstrate

Are those women identical? No. And yet they both have red hair. Thing is that you forget things like bone structure, eyes, nose - etc.

The romance kinda spoiled the 6th book for me. It seemed too random, Harry had barely noticed her before and then suddenly he's got a full blown infatuation/obsession with her.
I mean there were hints, like his faint annoyance when Ginny goes to meet Michael/Dean (not sure which guy it was) instead of looking for a compartment with him on the Hogwarts Express and him smelling her flowery scent as a result of being near the Amortentia in Potions. Yet, I still didn't like how it was written. The "monster purring" at the thought of Harry kissing Ginny made me cringe so hard. I usually skip past the parts that involve Ginny x Harry when I re-read the books. emotion_facepalm

I just... do not like her as a character.
I think that's the thing: you THINK she was a fiery, passionate girl, but in reality she was hardly more than a flat character in the books.

I felt their romance was very random as well. I understand he probably never really noticed her until he was older. That makes sense. And, I have no problem with them being together. There was just no lead up to why he began to like her so much. It seemed to come from left field.
The Chest is the one thing between the heart and the groin, if I recalled right, right? question

Meantime, I got some people I sent links to, when will they come in here?

"I thought Bonnie did very well, she played her as a strong willed young girl and it didn't get through to me as well in the books as it did in the movies."

I don't fully understand why so many people hate (or if you prefer, strongly dislike) her. Yes, Bonnie fell flat in portraying her in the movies. Yes, I find her and Harry's relationship to be a little odd, but otherwise I thought she was a passionate, fiery girl.

I strongly dislike Ginny and yet, I liked her potrayal by Bonnie Wright in the movies. (The romance in the movies was just as bad but, the potrayl was good overall.) I liked her just fine in the first few books. I saw her as a shy, sweet, little girl. She was alot like Neville Longbottom. Then during HBP she suddenly became super girl. She was smart, popular, good at quiddich, and pretty. She was perfect at every darn thing. It was a complete 360 (Edit: I mean to say 180.) and I hated that.
Figure that in along with my absolute hatred of the Harry/Ginny ship because she loved Harry as the Boy Who Lived and not for himself. Yeah, JKR told us she grew out of it. Problem is she sits there in HBP and tells him that she never really gave up on him. How is that supposed to convice me or anyone else that she grew out of her hero warship? Add that in with the fact that Harry hates his fame. You then have a recipe for strong dislike of a character.

Do we have more to add?
She is a nice girl. one of my favorite characters smile
