I don't fully understand why so many people hate (or if you prefer, strongly dislike) her. Yes, Bonnie fell flat in portraying her in the movies. Yes, I find her and Harry's relationship to be a little odd, but otherwise I thought she was a passionate, fiery girl.

Will it be consented via you if I go and bring WickedREMY for an invite to the sake of discussions?
I noted to her that we may have to be ready to convey that there's actually at least 1-2 people with legit common grounds with her if it may help begin the discussions, I'm just wondering when Remy will show up.

Of course you can bring whomever you want, and I encourage you if you think she will add to a discussion.

If you don't mind me popping in for the discussion, I'd like to give my two cents on her. :]

I don't hate or dislike Ginny Weasley. I guess you can say I'm neutral towards her. I do agree her portrayal in the films was not the best. A lot of the scenes between her and Harry were pretty lackluster. There were moments where I cringed. hahaha

I think the main problem people have with her is her relationship with Harry. Personally, I never liked the pairing too much. I thought it was kinda random because Harry had never shown an interest in her before (other than saving her back in the second book), and all of sudden, he had this huge crush on her.

No, of course I don't mind. I agree with you entirely, actually. I understood how she could fall for him as she got to know him better, but his affections never really made sense. Mind you, I suppose love never makes sense.

Hahaha Also very true. There was this great meme I found ages ago about this pairing. Wish I could find it again. It was a douchebag harry meme. It said something along the lines of: "Could have any girl but chooses best friend's little sister."

Anyway, you're right. If we could see some scenes where Harry and Ginny interacted, then the pairing would have made much more sense. There probably would have been way more support for it too.

Edit: Found the meme! Click me!

Haha, I've seen that before. I agree, I think if they had a little more time between the two of them, perhaps it would have made sense.

I think one of the main problems is that she's the main character's romantic interest in a book where romance is barely touched upon and the main character has some understandable emotional issues.

Personally I like the lack of romance. Harry gets hit over the head with hormones a few times but mostly the focus is on the plot. You know, the war, people in danger, Voldemort prancing around wanting Harry dead...

It could be worse. At least Ginny could take care of herself. After her first year Harry didn't have to save her any more and she grew out of the damsel in distress trench that most romantic interests gets stuck in.

Indeed, Harry didn't have to save her in the last book, she didn't act like a snotty brat when Harry broke up with her in the book before that. She put in some effort in Dumbledore's Army instead of moping around and waiting for her hero. That alone makes her a tenfold better character than 90% of Disney's female characters.

"I thought Bonnie did very well, she played her as a strong willed young girl and it didn't get through to me as well in the books as it did in the movies."

You are welcome to join in the discussions, the more people in there willing, the better we will feel.

The latter part kind of reminds me of whenever I need to reflect on Haseo's and Atoli's relationship with one another in general, or vice-versa since the Potter-world technically came before the dot hack universe, but I digress.

I strongly dislike Ginny and yet, I liked her potrayal by Bonnie Wright in the movies. (The romance in the movies was just as bad but, the potrayl was good overall.) I liked her just fine in the first few books. I saw her as a shy, sweet, little girl. She was alot like Neville Longbottom. Then during HBP she suddenly became super girl. She was smart, popular, good at quiddich, and pretty. She was perfect at every darn thing. It was a complete 360 (Edit: I mean to say 180.) and I hated that.
Figure that in along with my absolute hatred of the Harry/Ginny ship because she loved Harry as the Boy Who Lived and not for himself. Yeah, JKR told us she grew out of it. Problem is she sits there in HBP and tells him that she never really gave up on him. How is that supposed to convice me or anyone else that she grew out of her hero warship? Add that in with the fact that Harry hates his fame. You then have a recipe for strong dislike of a character.
I like Ginny. I agree, the actress didn't know what she was doing, why did they pick her? I wasn't expecting her to get together with Harry honestly, I thought he'd go with Hermione. It was kind of nice to have a surprise 3nodding

Well, they picked her when she was 10 years old and it would seem odd to switch the actor of one of the main-ish characters so late in the series.
