Welcome to Gaia! ::

why did harry brake the elderly wand or wut ever its called
It was called the Elder Wand, actually.
In order to obtain the Elder Wand, you must take it from its previous owner. This usually involves killing the witch or wizard. Harry does not want this to continue. Therefore, if he rids himself of the wand and dies a natural death, the wand will then be useless.
Furthermore, Harry states that he was happier with his old wand and that the Elder Wand is "more trouble than it's worth."

Because he's an idiot.

Sure, he rationalized his actions.

But he's still an idiot.

I despised that part of the movie. Why is it that the Elder wand is the one ancient magical artifact that is super easy to destroy?

So no one would kill him to get it?
His original was pretty powerful as well
(Though if you ask me, the wizards should learn how to use magic without wands as well)
It might have been the most powerful wand in existence, but the trouble and danger of having it in existence was too much to risk.

...

Actually, that's a very interesting reason. It's not the one he had, though.

Which means he's still an idiot. xd

Seeing as I still haven't seen the movie... sweatdrop

That was the reasoning given in the book?

(Also, Harry and co. seem pretty good at destroying legendary objects)

In the book, he didn't destroy the wand. Which is as it should have been.

Perhaps, but by snapping them in half? Come on. The freaking cloak is more durable.

Makes sense
If it is whole, it would be easier to study
and... duplicate? surprised

It is sad how they waltz around and break and destroy stuff

So sad. Many amazing things were left utterly ruined in their wake.

And just think, it could have all been avoided had Harry not gone after Quirrelmort for no good reason. stare

THIS!

Had Harry not looked through the mirror, there wouldn't of been any way for Voldemort to get the stone

The horcruxes I agree had to be destroyed, but I suppose we can blame those on Voldemort. The ravenclaw circlet seems like a silly thing to waste like that :/

oh, and Harry just left the stone in the woods.... gonk
In the movie, at least they could've had to cut it with Gryffindor's Sword. Or something. It seems like the most powerful wand in the history of everything ever would not be able to have it's magic broken by a simple physical act. It takes magical damage to destroy even normal wands.

Newbie Explorer

Harry didn't want the responsiblity of having such a powerful wand. He has always wanted to be normal.
He should have fixed his wand with it before he rid himself of it. As in the books. That frustrated me....
