Hosting a Halloween party on the 30th and then preforming a Samhain ritual on the 31st.
Awesome! Though, I have no idea what a Samhain ritual is.
Samhain (pronounced Sow-in) is how the Celts (ancient Irish) celebrated the harvest festival thousands of years ago. It was a pagan ritual in which large bonfires were lit and sacrifices (which may or may not have included human prisoners) were made to the gods of light. It was the last chance for people to socialize and get together before the harsh winters set in, leaving villages and homes isolated for months on end. People drank, caroused, and the Druids (priest/philosophers) made prayers and used divination to foretell what would happen in the coming year.
