A bit of History...
War was first founded several years ago on a little site called neopets. (Remember it? ;D )
Well for various reasons, (most concerning out fights being a bit to graphic for neo's target audience,) we have almost completely migrated to gaia.
When War was first founded, it was completely chatplay. "Whaaaaat?!" you say? "Chatplay is for lazy n00bs..."
We highly resent these thoughts! D<
And as proof, I would have you notice my correct grammatical placement of the word 'resent' in the previous statement.
A n00b wouldn't be able to spell it right, much less know what it means...
What exactly is Chatplay?
-Chatplay or CP
Chatplay is a specific form of roleplaying. It usually involves an unlimited amount of people, and is very fast paced. Literacy levels are usually the most lenient with CPs. Like RPing, The GM (See GM) of the CP will have made their own rules, inculding literacy guidelines. The most common type of CPs are battles, but you can CP just about anything. The major difference between chatplay and roleplay is the form in which it is written. Chatplays tend to be no different than if you were just chatting with your friends normally while online. The difference is, you are in character.
CPs normally require some differentiating between actions, thoughts and speech.
For example:

Why didn't I kill this thing the last time I had the chance!
...This ends now!
*jumps at the enemy, unleashing a fierce growl* Sure, CP isn't the most popular form of roleplaying but it's part of our roots and we like it that way so we're not changing a thing.
However, we have greatly expanded!
We allow every kind of RP you can imagine and you are free to set the rules to them yourself! So if you don't like CP, it won't be in your roleplay.
And anyway, it's not like we make you CP in the WAR board.
You are free to RP or CP as you see fit in any WAR board or official guild event.
(Take note that official WAR boards are those that say WAR! in the title. If a member run RP says no CP, then follow their rules.)
