What's wrong with my Pokemon Silver?

It's old as hell, I know.
But I wanted to start a new game on it.
Every time I save it it says that it saved and I turn off the power, but when I go to turn it on there's no saved data and I have to start all over again.
Is it broken or would it work in a different system like advanced or color rather than SP.

MY POKEMON RED DID THIS.

It's because it's an old game. I was told by support ages back that if you wait like 10 seconds after you save it should work. I found this only worked 80 percent of the time. ];

i just read that the older games have internal batteries..and they died.

Doesn't that mean that like... the internal battery is dead or something? It can easily be fixed if you buy a replacement battery, open up the cartridge and use your mad skills to change the battery.

That's the sad thing about those cartridge games... I would hate to lose my most perfect save game.

try cleaning the little metal things with a q-tip and a glass cleaner
that works on my nes games for saving and all that, so
if it still doesn't work then I guess it's ********

and I was looking all over for my gold
then coincidentally heart gold was announced so I can't wait xD

My silver said the file was corrupted... It wouldn't let me play- but I tried a year later and it worked fine.

PS- I think they should re-make the original Pokemon games- but leave them as they are. Just make them so they run like the newer ones.

They always do the remakes, only they make it so you have to hack or go to nintendo events to get them all.
