Wasn't Lolita a book about an underage girl who gets taken advantage of.

It's cute. 3nodding

I'd never be brave enough to wear a whole lolita outfit in one go, but I'd wear little bits of it at a time, like a skirt or jacket.

So it looks like McFly aren't as eye-sore-ish as my previous post formats, hurrah for being a rabid fangirl
I LOVE Lolita fashion. It became my fashion obsession when my friend showed it to me last year, and weirdly, unlike most of my other obsessions that go away pretty soon, still have this one. I love how you can look beautiful, elegant, feminine, yet dark and creepy all at the same time. Obviously, I'm in LOVE with Punk Lolita and Gothic Lolita (which is the opposite of my sweet loving Lolita friend, but that's another topic). I would also try out classic or Aristocratic Lolita after I semi-build my Punk and Gothic Lolita wardrobe. Though, I do not have the money to buy anything, if I did I would buy that one piece by Putamayo showed in the last Gothic & Lolita Bible.

it's cute and all
but it looks stupid when people wear it on every day occasions : /
you don't need to dress in frills to go to class.

it should be for parties or special occasions when it's appropriate
otherwise the person wearing it looks rather silly

Artemis the Pi-Rat

i think it's neat, but i couldn't pull it off.
Lolita fashion is so cute! I love all those frills, and I love the spin they put on an old-fashioned look. It's almost Victorian-esqe, and it looks so cool.

I wanted a dress for graduation, but it is so expensive, and I was running out of time.

Haha alot of the people who have posted resently i recongnize you guys from the "official lolita thread". And now i remember why i quit actually posting on it.
No offence to poeple that do but, you guys act like you know everything about lolita and really dont give a chance to new people who want to join in on your convos or even are just starting out with lolita to have any slack. Learn to be nice and not set the example that all american lolitas are just stuck up please. When i lived in Japan and every summer when i visit i know MOST of the lolitas there are VERY nice and dont cut everyone done at their smallest mistakes. So please cut people some slack thank you very much.
"HI" =/= posting in the thread, please.

No one is gonna stop for random strangers popping up in the thread like "HIIIII". Apparently you don't know how to be assertive with conversations so instead of being butthurt over crap like that, grow a backbone and if you want to debate on different opinions, then debate. No one is setting an "example" if people are being themselves. If someone needs help, we'll help but if you can't start or contribute to a damn conversation then you simply can't.

God, you sound like such a doormat.

@ack daliah: Dooo itttttttt. And take pics when you do <3

Just because you wear it doesn't mean you can pull it off.

What Japanese Lolitas were you hanging out with? I'd like to meet them. XD

The reason that so many of us are posting is because this thread is filled with so many common misconceptions that it's laughable. Especially since most of those misconceptions can be cleared up by doing a bit of reasearch? Do you know about Livejournal's Lolita Handbook? It's got lots of great information. I could give you the link if you'd like.

The way you are treated depends on your attitude and how you present yourself, naturally. Maybe that's why you had a problem? Regardless, I'm kind of tired of people acting like this is some sort of exclusive group that's unwilling to help. I'm living proof that that's untrue. I for one didn't burst from the womb in perfect frills. My beginning attempts at Lolita were in fact, rather shitty. I improved because I did my research by studying the fashion and worked hard to look better.
I love lolita! =D I've wanted to wear it for so long, but I don't have the money to buy it and I'm hoping to make a lolita dress some time when I'm better at sewing. If I could I would wear lolita every day. 4laugh I adore it!
i would dress lolita
but i won't look good neutral

Hehe see this is what im talking about :] I was being assertive about it. But, you know it gets to a point where theres not a reason to continue because some people are not very open to other oppions so its just a useless debate over something that wont end. So please dont go making assumptions about me when you dont even know me.
If you like lolita and feel happy and comfortable in it, that's all that matters.
Thank you very much. :]
I like Lolita. It's just I'd be too scared to actually try it. People would stare at me.
