Welcome to Gaia! ::

Just don't say that part, its only two words. and people wearing crosses are fine, its an expressing yourself thing. The pledge is to our country, not God.
the damn nation is ment for freedom of religion not the lack of it. if you dont like it get over it...

i lol@you

You're no better than the idiotic religious people
who shove religion down people's throat.

you're in AMERICA
People can wear and worship whatever the hell they want.
There are much worthier topics to protest about. What a whiny upper-middle class way of thinking.

There was a dance event, and it would catch more people's attention. Since parents were also there, it was supposed to spread awareness.

Awareness about what? About two little atheists whining about how
they don't want to support the morals and foundations that this country
was founded on? Good luck getting supporters with THAT subject.

You don't have to say the Pledge if you don't want to, but don't think that
you're going to start losing brain cells listening to supportive American citizens
showing their appreciation for what they know is right and true.

But it is forcing people to hear the mention of a God if it's a public school.

Religious schools are private, but they shouldn't exist anyway.

why the hell shouldnt they exist? people have the right to go to a religious school if thats what they believe in.
i know of many, many more religious public schools than i do private ones. i'm going to one for 6th form.

Only I and my best friend showed up. I don't understand, we handed out pamphlets and stuff and yet no one came. We worked so hard...

It was for our atheist club at school. There are a few people, and I am the leader. My friend is what you'd call a "co-pilot" and whatnot.

But I am sick of having to deal with the Pledge of Allegiance at my school. We may not be forced to stand, but if it mentions God it is not right. What about us atheists or even the agnostics? We were trying to have it taken out of the morning routine but no one even cared to listen...

It also explains how people wearing things such as crosses and whatnot are also wrong. exclaim

This is how the US will fall.

So, people aren't allowed to express themselves now? confused
There is a difference between expressing yourself and religion being forced on people.

You'll offend someone, and that is what we should avoid.

yeah because the pledge is about nothing but believing in god and everything comes from god and nothing but god should be listened to

it mentions the ******** word once, it doesn't even say "thank you god" or "nation of god" it says "one nation, under god"
like anyone gives a flying ******** b***h
You...have an atheist club? neutral

stare Well, school on a Sunday must suck...
But...

I'm an atheist and I stand for the pledge.
It's more of an issue of respect than anything else.
You're not standing for God.
Mm... seems kind of traitorous to me.
"The agnostics"... The way you said that makes me think you don't actually know what agnostic individuals at your school think about the situation. I'm agnostic, and being such I don't care whether or not we say God in the pledge, because I am agnostic. It's fine with me either way. That's what being agnostic is all about.

Religion isn't forced on anyone. If you choose to view it that way, you need to go somewhere that actually does force people to believe something. Maybe then you'll understand the difference, and stop bitching about things that aren't really an issue. Religion isn't polluting anyone's minds. In my experience, religious folks tend to be better PEOPLE than atheists that force THEIR views on the rest of society.

And people can wear crosses if they want to. We are a free country. But then again, you probably aren't a big fan of freedom if you refuse to pledge your allegiance to this great nation. You make me sick.
There are more people who believe in god than are athesit. Goverment=majority rules. >:/
Things are not quite what they seem...

And I agree with the pledge of allegiance thing. I always leave out the "under God" bit. I'm not an athiest but I am a Buddhist, and I don't think being forced to say that part of the pledge is right. I also don't think you should be chastized for not saying it.
You aren't forced to say it, but people shouldn't listen to other mentioning "God" by force.

you're such a hypocrite.
you're saying that people are wrong for wearing a cross because they believe in christianity, and that you're sick of people shoving it down your throat? they arent FORCING you to look at their chests. you're trying to force your anti-religion bullshit down peoples throats. in my eyes, that makes you a lot worse.
