Welcome to Gaia! ::

While I’ve seen some great gifts exchanged between family members, I think this one made by R1CKW’s grandfather over on Reddit tops them all, or at least comes pretty darn close. As the swords make is just incredible overall, and the fact that the Grandfather went to so much trouble to make this really shows how amazing of a gift this must have made. Keep reading to check out a photo of the awesome Master Sword replica!

First off, I’m really impressed with the quality of this custom made Master Sword. I’m sure that the original poster’s grandfather had some sort of background skills involving woodcrafting, as this is pretty evident in the work depicted above. One part of the blade that is seen here that I don’t see in a lot of other Master Sword Replicas is the octagonal change in shape about a fifth of the way up the blade. That’s one feature I really like about the sword that isn’t usually seen in other replicas, save for a few pretty high quality expensive ones.

But now that you’ve seen the sword, what do you think? Do you like it’s design? Are you impressed with the work overall? If you have any other thoughts or comments, feel free to leave a comment.!

Joe Madureira, the creative director for the Darksiders games, has recently showed interest in working on a Legend of Zelda comic. With Madureira’s past experience as a comic book writer and his expressed enthusiasm for the Zelda series, it seems as it be a great idea for Nintendo to give him the opportunity to start this comic book series.

This wouldn’t be the first Nintendo has teamed up with a comic book series. Back in the early 90′s Nintendo had a deal with Valiant Comics, now known as Valiant Entertainment, Inc, which produced several Nintendo Titles in print form including Super Mario Bros., Metroid, and The Legend of Zelda.

Joe Madureira seems to be a perfect choice when it comes to making a Zelda comic series, so why hasn’t Nintendo taken him up on this offer yet? Maybe this question will have a more positive answer to it if Darksiders 2 ends up being a huge success. We can only hope for the best, but when it comes to Nintendo, they are always picky about handing out the rights to any of their franchises, especially with The Legend of Zelda.

I think Nintendo should at least give him a chance. Let him make a few chapters, if they like it, they should go with it and if they don’t than atleast he tried. I don’t see any harm in it and in the end, it could only benefit both Joe and Nintendo. I’m sure fans of both Zelda and Darksiders would love to have their own copies of the comic. How do you feel about it though? Do you think Nintendo should give him this opportunity or do you feel it would be a drag on the franchise?
Back in in 2007, Phantom Hourglass was released and it was a direct sequel to the Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. While that was a sweet adaptation to the Nintendo DS, Canadian animator Joel Furtado wants to see Nintendo make an HD sequel to Wind Waker. Obviously this is a long shot and just a fan-made dream at this point, but this didn’t stop Joel from making his own fan-made trailer titled: The Lost Oracle. It doesn’t have that final polish, but geez does this fan-made trailer look incredible. What are you waiting for? check it out for yourself!

That was neat. I had a few issues with it but overall it was a very good attempt for a fan trailer.
I didn't like the one with voice-over, though. It just kinda made it feel off for me.
Has anyone noticed how we all get angry at the water temple in every zelda. Like they put easy level easy level. then the hardest most complicated level that takes days of long mutipliction of arithmatic maybe some 4X4 matrix equations, triganomety and a stradegy guide to beat? lol

XD I think the words "frustrating", "annoying", or "Confusing" fits the Water Temple better than the word "Difficult".

Unless you get lost easily.
Then the water temple in Majora's Mask will likely put you through the wringer. rofl

I Never really found the Water Temple frustrating, annoying or confusing; as long as you don't get lost or miss anything that is. Another thought I had is that it represents Nayru, the Goddess of Wisdom.

Ah, Zelda.

I've been neglecting OoT, but I'm determined to beat it this weekend! I will at least try to. I feel like a loser because I've had this game since I got my 3DS, but I've let other games come in front of it. =/ Lol.

Hopefully I can get through this.

Aw, man. The first time I played MM, it killed me. I was so lost. xd
Youtube user Futurised has uploaded a video featuring some lovely Zelda poetry, with an interesting take on what Link really does. As the title suggests, it tells the tale of a certain Hero in Green, who is unusually lazy for being a hero. The real story of Link and his adventures turns out to be rather a lack of adventures. It’s very creative, and of course everything rhymes. It’s very well done and worth checking out so make sure to take a look!

I thought this poetry was very creative and funny. The narrator did a really good job, and his voice suited the poem. Hyrule is brought to an end all because Link just couldn’t get out of bed. It’s a bit of a tragic story, but not everything can have a happy ending, besides it makes it unique.

So what did you think? Like the poetry? Tell us in the comments!
Does The Legend of Zelda Series Need a Reboot?
According to Mike Damiani over at Game Trailers, yes, the Zelda series needs to be rebooted and now is the best time to do so. Skyward Sword was the distant prequel to the series and wrapped up many past questions we had about the storyline. More recently the Hyrule Historia book completely wrapped up the entire Legend of Zelda series into a somewhat coherent timeline. We’ve been hit with an assault of Zelda storyline information consecutively and the whole series really seems to fit together now. So where can they go from here? Is it really time to shakeup the series even more? Perhaps a complete story reboot? Maybe even handing off the Zelda series to a 2nd party? Keep reading to hear Mike’s thoughts and my response.

Series producer Eiji Aonuma said he plans to make even more radical changes for the next Zelda. You know what? We’ve seen this song and dance before. I’m sorry, but it’s time somebody else got a crack at Zelda. Even Shigeru Miyamoto subtly hinted at the possibility when he said he wouldn’t be opposed to Texas based Retro Studios trying their hand at the legendary franchise. And lord knows how many times this rumor has surfaced in recent years. Retro has proven several times now that they not only fully understand what makes a certain series so unique and successful, but they have the imagination and talent to take such a series into new directions without losing the essence of that franchise. I think they’ve earned the right to revitalize the Zelda series, and they’re probably better equipped for WiiU development now more than ever if you consider their recent talent poaching.

Mike bases his argument around the fact that Nintendo has sort of done a complete 180 degree turn on the Zelda Timeline. They were so tight-lipped about it before and gave specific reasons for not wanting to go into great detail over it. Then all of a sudden, seemingly out of nowhere, Nintendo released the full Legend of Zelda Timeline to the public in the recent Hyrule Historia book. Whatever happened to not wanting to release it as it would limit their creative minds from a story perspective?

Perhaps this truly is a turn for the Zelda series and a shift is ready to take place. I still think Eiji Aonuma will be significantly involved moving forward with the series, but perhaps it is time for some new faces. Maybe Retro Studios does take on the next Zelda title. Maybe it is a complete reboot that is little to do with the games in the Zelda series as we know it. It certainly is a possibility and I agree with Mike that it isn’t just baseless speculation. Nintendo seems to have hinted towards this with their recent statement and actions.

I suppose the one area where I disagree with Mike in is the actual need to fully reboot the series. I think we can get some fresh faces on board and give it to a new studio to work on. However, I don’t think it is necessary to completely dislodge it from the Zelda storyline as we know it. With an adventure game like Zelda, they can piece together a storyline however the want to. They can easily set it to take place 1000′s of years after the events of Adventure of Link, Four Swords Adventures, or Spirit Tracks… the three games at the end of the three timeline splits. They can just set it so far ahead in time, that the relevancy as to how it relates to the previous games is not there. The game could truly be stand alone. However, I think even then it can have its benefits.

I think placing it so far ahead in time from the rest of the series will allow it to virtually do whatever it wants. Almost nothing is off the table from the potential limitations of the storyline, technology, or characters. However, what they can include is references to the past. Perhaps it does take place 1000′s of years after Spirit Tracks or one of the other games. Maybe the adventure Link is on leads him to discover the ruins of a prior location, or to recover the artifacts of a lost item. This all could be new material to the new game, but carries the reference to a game of the past.

The point I’d make is that change is certainly good, but I don’t think we need to just push aside the past. From a story perspective, just make a stand alone Zelda game that takes place so far in the future, but then include the smallest of connections to the past. It doesn’t even need to be a fundamental part of the game, but I think the fans would completely love that, and it wouldn’t cause new fans to shy away. There is a balance that could be reached and I think it is certainly possible without the need for a complete reboot.

Feel free to post your thoughts in the comments below. Do you think the Zelda series needs a reboot? Should a 2nd party handle the upcoming games for the 3DS and WiiU? Do you think more drastic changes should be made? Let’s hear your thoughts.
