Your so right, since the opening of Sonys latest "PS3" computer gaming system, PS3 has been taking a number of hits by Xbox alone, not to mention with the coming of Wii and its economice pricing. PS3 not only had to drop out of the market for a while but then lower there pricing from, what was it, 6-700 to 3-400. Also, with the games that Microsoft had promise AND produced, i would have done the samething. Now sony wants to come back with COD. Lame (not the game its self thou). To me, the ppl at Sony are just throwing darts into the dark, and hoping it atleast lets the bored; let alone a bulls eye. A failure such as "The red Ring of Death" could never compare to that of an 80 game. Comparing both systems, You would speed, nearly $1500 on PS3(Slim) or nearly $800 on Xbox 360. Mircosoft and Ubisoft, my Heros. xd

or ended up on 360 a year later, as for the controller you do know MS just copied the controller from Sony and swapped the analogue and the pad to avoid being sued right? Not to mention ps3s is better from any technical perspective and the rest is just random preference

except the 360 controller looks and feels nothing like a dualshock
oh, and lets not forget the fact that the designers of the controller took inspiration from the DC controller and the older PC controllers MS made.

If anyone is guilty of copying controllers, it's fing sony.

what the hell you mean the 360 controller doesn't look and feel like sony's, with the exception of the swapped d-pad and analogue the control scheme is identical, two triggers, 4 face buttons, 2 analogue, start and select ect. ect. and all MS does is copy I haven't seen an original idea from MS ever, and I'm not just talking about the 360

There is no Xbox haldheld device which means it's not even going to be a possibility for portable competition. Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 are so similar for games and controllers I really don't think it matters which you get if you looking into those systems. Kinect won't take out Wii because the Wii incorporates motion controls and regular controllers, Kinect has serious limitations so far as gaming goes I owned an EyeToy for the PS2 and what I learned was although the cameras can tell where you are it's not going to be able what exactly you're trying to do, not to mention the fact that it uses about a third of the processing power of the Xbox, drastically lowering the graphics capability of Kinect games (this actually will probably be reduced to a sixth when Kinect comes out). Developers also require a large amount of creativity to step out of normal bounds to make games without a controller so there may not be many or any good games that come out it's still possible for great games but realistically not a definite thing. From what I've seen the Kinect also has huge lag.

and what exactly is new and different about the 360 controller thats right nothing, hell Sony being the first to use dual analogues is more innovation then MS has ever done (and actually a pretty profound innovation when you think about it, makes camera control so much easier)

All controllers are going to use similar schemes without necessarily stealing at all the picture is missing a huge variety of other controllers used by systems that fell out of the race. After all whoever made the first button would have to be copied for buttons at all, not much choice but to copy a little. The original Playstation controller wasn't simply based only on Nintendo controllers it was a look at what controllers worked best and was an attempt to make a hybrid, including arcade machines which is what all Microsoft controllers were trying to be similar to. Triggers on PS3 controllers are a bad addition whether they are copying or not. If you don't think 360 and Playstation controllers are similar then you've never tried a controller like N64 or Gamecube. Game companies copying each other a little isn't that bad after all none are really direct copies even if differences are sometimes more subtle than others. Not to mention the six axis is not a copy of Wii controllers for motion controls at all really after all the EyeToy came out a few years before Wii. Copying accelerometers is kind of like copying triggers, buttons or analogue sticks a simple way to add functionality to a controller and as far as I'm concerned not punishable as copying.

A high price is worth paying when it's intended to be highest quality possible, The price drop in the PS3 was the result of getting rid of backwards compatibility with PS2 games which allowed access to a huge, library of games all on one console. Thanks to people complaining and saying the PS3 was worse because of it's price compare to Xbox. Backwards compatibility should be an option not a sacrifice. $1500 to $800 is just plain inaccurate I'm not sure where you get those numbers from.
