Or gamers need to stop bitching and support first parties...

Compare this to PC vs. MAC. PC has almost ALL the third party support, but MAC has better hardware, a more reliable OS, and excellent first-party software. Most people see the lack of third party support as a negative to MAC, but do not see that the first party software makes it a great product.

However, one cannot dispute the fact that you cannot rely solely on first party support to make your platform go. 3rd party support is important. Without it, your console WILL fail. Plain and simple.
And that is why the Gamecube was the last Nintendo console...

It helps, and it makes things a lot easier, but absolutely required to keep the system afloat? You've been a Sony fan for far too long.

EDIT: So yes, I am disputing the so-called "fact" that you cannot blah-blah...

If the games are good enough and plentiful enough, your console will seurvive. A few weeks ago, someone posted an article that outlined the financial status of Nintendo, Sony, and MS's gaming divisions. While Sony and MS have much more company than just gaming, it is all that Nintendo has, and they are WAY in the black (also green or positive). Seeing as Nintendo had the worst third-party support, and the FACT that Nintendo has nothing outside of gaming, I think it proves that the third-party argument is complete BS. There are other disputes with first-parties (and third parties still help), but first parties CAN keep company afloat if they're good enough.

Short story, Nintendo can survive with only first party support, Sony and Microsoft's gaming divisions would not.

I LOVE the Wii. It's so much fun. Unfortunatly, I haven't seen a game on the 360 and PS3 that I want yet. So of course I favor the Wii over the other new generation consoles. :3

True, but you can ask many people in life and on gaia (Drinky McIrish is one of them, I believe) that a first-party strategy is only effective if it can be accepted by a wide enough audience. I brought up Drinky McIrish because he is NOT a fan of Nintendo's first-party titles, and THAT is the Achilles Heel of a primarily first-party strategy. If your first-party software make up the majority of your library, but the audience you're targeting (or any audience that may be interested in your products) is not interested, and you have little or no third-party support to fall back on, you WILL fail.

I think that's what Gemomatic was trying to get at before.

which is why i think they are making somewhat of a stride ahead by introducing wiiware. the virtual console was nice, but 3rd party indie developers might help it out. i might even get some wii points.
WiiWare is basically a system to download games?

First off, Nintendo's first party is at least doing well enough to keep the company afloat. Secondly, Gemomatic made it seem as if Nintendo HAD to get third-parties. I take personal issue with how much gamers b***h about stuff. "Xbox has only shooters", "PS3 has shitty online", "Nintendo has onlee kiddie games". These arguments are founded on something, but at some point we have to kick people in the teeth and point out that we don't HAVE to have video games, and you don't HAVE to get exactly what you want when you can TRY something else and give it a FAIR chance.

Of course, this is mostly philosophy on gaming in general...

You don't think it's bad in the least that Nintendo has almost NO third-party support?
