Got it and love it. I thought it was so much better than the other MGS games aside from the fact that most of the members of Cobra didn't have that much (if any) backstory. But then the characterization of The Boss and the overall story more than makes up for them.

Plus it has the best ending I've ever seen in a game.

my brother got it the day it came out and has already beaten it three times. i've watched the whole game through and i'd have to say that it's a pretty freakin awesome game. it also has the BEST ending i've ever seen in a video game.

Every single boss has a cheap method you can exploit in order to win.

With The Fear, shoot the frogs and mushrooms around you. When he goes around to forage for food, he'll eat them (he'll always go for visible ration boxes first) and get poisoned. While poisoned, he slows down considerably and looses the stealth.
