And theres my problem right there. I don't feel violent games should be banned, but age restrictions need to be followed through.

I feel immoral that anyone under the age of 10 should have any access to that kind of violence. Why the hell would you need it then? Thats the growing up "Lol, lets go play outside" age. Soon as you hit 10, medium violence seems fair, soon as your 14, no amount of violence seems immoral.

Age restriction is more of the parents job, isn't it? Or is the job of being a parent and actually watching over the kids so hard and so complicated that cooperations need to do it for them?
Your completley ignoring my point. I'm not for Overprotective Parents, i'm against kids playing overly violent games before they have any need to.

Theres just no need for Halo, GTA and the likes that early. There's no peer pressure at that age (and if there is, that only more proves my point), and no real need for high levels of violence that early. Tekken or Mortal Kombat style violence at that age is fine, but MGS and GTA style violence is out of the question.

Your ignorant to my point as well. I am not saying its right or wrong because it is not my kid we are taking about (not that I have one) I am saying it is up to the parents. Not you, not the government, just the parents.
Your as bad as the parents who feel violent games equals all gamers are violent.

Your pointlessly targeting a small minority of parents who are either too stupid or dont care about their children enough to check the age restrictions.
thats not what he said
but you are the one who is saying that no kid should play it and I believe it is up to the parent
he is simply saying if he becomes a parent he will let his kids play

I don't understand why people think violent video games should be banned. If you banned video games, then you'd have to ban movies as well. I mean what makes Manhunt worse than Saw or Hostel? They have an 18+ rating so kids wont be playing them legally.

EXACTLY! It has gotten to the point that people tried to sue Bill Gates and get him in trouble for the guy who loved playing Tom Clancy games on the X-Box and shot all those people at Virginia Tech. Seriously people, in that situation don't shoot the messenger. Bill Gates didn't make the game or concept for it, Tom Clancy did.
i never heard proof that the kid played it
but there were just rumors that he played counterstrike
but most people who get stressed and are in college play counterstrike its quick and fun

What do you mean "small" minority? Parents often assume that all video games are for kids and completely ignore, or are ignorant of, the rating system. Also, because most parents believe that their kids are special, wonderful children, they assume that they are mature enough to handle the images that they will see whilst playing said games. Children are malleable, and must be treated as such. Of course, it is the parent's job to determine when their children are mature enough, but many are blind.

I never said that. Where did you get that? All I am saying is that violent games are not meant for everyone and thats why there is an M on the game. M meaning for MATURE players. BUT under the correct parenting, kids can play it too without getting violent. And there is no measure for maturaty.

Have you met my dad? He still laughs at his own farts and he is over the hill in age. But I have met kids who wouldn't even come close to thinking farts are funny and are as mature as a 20 year old should be.

XD No problem. There is a second issue of video games and that's sexism. Like, Tomb Raider, which is probably THE BIGGEST attraction for male games, is sexist because its not meant for woman. ... well... duh... it was created for the male population and not the woman population. RPGs are unisex and are becoming even more so.

I don't know exactly what a female game would consist of nor do I care what it would consist of if there are any I wouldn't play it, but isnt that the point? A game like that would be focused on the female population and thus, by those who complain's standpoint, be sexist against men. But I wouldn't complain.
there are many games that display men as sex objects with perfect bodies lol
oh and feel the magic was a female game i think

XDD My GF never played Tomb Raider and thinks its sexist. I've played them before. They arent. Infact, I would be afraid to make Lara Croft angry. XDD
lol and i keep hearing "well real girls don't look like that and it sets a bad standard" LOOK AT SNAKE does a real man look like that lol i am so ashamed of my non chiseled crying abs i am going to go throw up crying

But Barbies are ok for girls to play with and Tomb Raider is still Evil. XDD Barbie causes skinny girls to have low self-esteem and think they are fat.

I never said I think that Tomb Raider is sexist. I just stated the few valid reasons that the women who do believe it is have. PTTTTTTTHHHT! xp

A lot of people play Counterstrike, so I wouldn't doubt that he did as well. The main issue people have is that they see people who play video games being violent, especially in the media. They assume that the correlation is that video games make people violent. Isn't it more likely to assume that violent people are drawn to violent video games (along with the rest of the gaming population of course) and that they enjoy being able to act out their already violent tendencies in a fantasy world? Then, when the high wears out and they become immune to the thrill, they stop fantasizing and make it a reality.

Not to agree with the enemy, but aiming at Bill Gates is BS.

If a parent bought alcohol for his underage children to go get drunk with theirs friends with, which has the potential to kill someone, would you blame the Store Employee, even though he had no idea what its intended use would be?

No body blames Schoolastic, the distributer of Harry Potter, for all the kids who broke their arms because they jumped off of the roof of a house with a broom, they blame J.K. Rowling. So, by you believing that Bill Gates should be blamed for releasing the game, do you think Schoolastic should be blamed for releasing Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling is innocent?
