Well i don't think they should be banned i mean nowadays they have warning labels on such violent content and you have to be 18 to buy it so whoever buys it is of a good enuff age to handle such material also i play many games that are violent and i am perfectly fine i dont want to go out and murder people or stab them with glass i know whats fiction an non-fiction i am really not about to commit some violent act just because i saw it in a video game..though there are some people in the world who are very sick in the head and should be put in a mental institute OR kept away from such violence point in case violent video games do not necesserelly make a person violent if anything it releaves people of stress..well in some cases it does..i belive they have done enough to make sure the underage audience does not get there hand on it but once it is out of the store it will be up to the people who own it to block such content from there kids so it is not the stores fault it is the purchaser of said video game..hope that pretty much answers your question

They have the ESRB rating system to make sure that a game isn't too violent.

No, they shouldn't ban violent video games. Why? Well, why should they? The stores make sure small children can't get their hands on them. If someone can't handle the gore or whatever, then that's their problem.

I don't think they should be banned. Restricted, maybe, but not banned.

Violence is the essence of chaos and chaos is what makes games fun so never

I say no because it gives the user a chance to experience something which you can't normally do..ie: Killing someone.

Plus, I think it also makes the user aware of his/her surroundings in the real world...
It should give them a sence of knowledge, if ya know what I mean.

I don't think they should be banned. I love many violent video games. Gears of War, Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat, Doom, etc. These are all great games. The only games I personally have a problem with are the ones where your main objective is killing innocent people, such as the GTA series. I also don't like games where they show torture, but I don't really have anything against those; they're just not my thing, as long as it's the bad guys doing the torturing, and not the protagonist. It's like Neo Slith II said. Torture is one of the things I just can't handle, but that's a personal thing. The Silent Hill games for example shouldn't be taken off the shelves for this reason.

Penalties and strict enforcement should be regulated, a clerk who sells a M-rated game to a kid without a parent or guardian there should get in trouble, leading up to, or including losing their job.

Of course not.
People are warned before hand so they are PREPARED by the ESRB and stuff like that when they buy the game.
On the other hand, going out and slaughtering something that doesn't really exist is better than going out and slaughtering something that does exist. That's how I always looked at it.
So those virtual hunter games really do save the adorable man-eating bears, and the user is not at risk of actual bullets either.

They shouldn't be banned, and I know ratings are there for a reason but I honestly don't care anymore who picks these games up anymore. I feel like it's hardly affecting anyone these days, though if kid's parents are getting so pissed then they should take that controller out of the kid's hand and give him a beating. Or just.. take the game away, whatever.
