Keep in mind, I don't have the greatest memory. But I had a game as a child that I would like to figure out it's name. As I recall, it was sort of a side scroller. You play as a guy with a hat. His main weapon a whip and a blue bottle that I assumed was a magic potion. I wish I could give more information, but I really don't remember much.

Guy with a whip automatically makes me think of Castlevania but that sounds a little too obvious.

Yeah, I thought so too, but I'm positive it's not Castlevania. But I'll look into any castlevania games on genesis to figure it out.

Indiana Jones fits the hat and whip description.
EDIT: Apparently there's also this game that totally is not Indiana Jones and this game, which is also totally not Indiana Jones.

Whip guy in Bloodlines didn't have a hat, were there any other Genesis Castlevania games? Nobody in Golden Axe used a whip, although I dunno, it might have been a special weapon you could pick up a la Double Dragon.

Thats what i thought about golden axe aswell. Well thwre was a weird indiana jones game on the genesis but i doubt it was that.
