The threads looking good.

I finally got my hands on a copy of SW:EL this weekend so now I have all the SW games that are currently out. The graphics kinda throw me cause I started with SW2, but it's not bad...what little I have gotten to play it that is.

I actually was introduced to the SW characters in a role play before I really got into the game. When I did finally get into the game...I fell in love with Mitsuhide-sama. That is actually where my name came from. Anytime I do a Japanese role play, I use Setsuna and that was the first time I had ever used that name.

Anyway...only about another week and a day till Orochi comes out where I live. *has been highly anticapating this game* I can't wait to be able to play with both eras in one game. I just hope they included a few battlefields from SW and DW.
How's SW:EL?

I'm still debating if I should get it or not. I probably will just for the sake of completing my collection, but I'm still not 100% sure.

I'm guessing that EL = Xtreme Legends, I'd use XL though personally. xD

SW2: XL will be far better then the first XL instalment though; and even has some of the first XL characters returning - probably a better investment to wait for the new one and get it instead.

I don't mind the ROTK book, just at times it's hard with the damn Wade-Giles names used by C.H. Brewitt Taylor - still enjoyable though. smile
Yay 4 days before Sengoku Orochi I wanna kick all Koeis warrior characters with Nagamasa Azai.
it coming out in3 more day sXD im buying it
Fayt258...your probably right about using the XL instead of EL, but whatever...

JT...the game so far isn't that bad...It's just the graphics are corny compared to SW2 and SW: E. I think part of it is that I am playing a character I haven't played before so I am not used to the move set and weapon. You would have to get it and try it to see if you like it. It actually makes me think of DW when I play it.

Ever heard of Devil Kings? It's much like Samurai Warriors, just that it's made by Capcom.
that game is retarded, the abilities and the lvl ups an weapons are cool, but you're allies just stand there with they're thumb up they're asses doin nothin. Only way they move is if there is an enemy within 30 feet of em.

plus you have to be like lvl 13 or 14 to set the difficulty to normal, unless your iron ox, he only needs to be lvl 7 or 8. The lvls have nothing decent to em, sorta boring, and it's either slaughtering the enemies on easy mode til lvl 14, or set it to normal and "get" slaughtered.
I've heard mixed reviews for Devil Kings, and generally a suggestion it pales to Samurai Warriors 2. Although seriously, SW2 is fantastic so it would be a tough game to compare to!

Just 3-4 days until Orochi Warriors comes out, it might not be as good as the main Samurai & Dynasty Warriors titles...but it's the newest and will for a one time only combine all of our favourites in one; so that alone is attractive enough for me. smile
I'm actually having a friend come over to my place next weekend just so that we can go through the game together to see what it's like. She was the one that got me into SW and DW to begin with. I think it will be much fun.

The only thing is...the game comes out on Wednesday and she won't be coming over till Friday and I'm forbidden to even open the game till she comes over. *sniffle*

But anyway...I have a question. Why do the graphics and colors for SW2 and SW: E seem so different from DW5 (as that is the only one I have played) and the first two SW games?

Well, I wouldn't say the game is retarded....It's just a little disappointing... I mean, the allies staying where they are is nice since you get more people to kill with no one in your way to take the glory....But the attack combos could be much better and how fast the Fury Gauge fills up as well. And for me, the character I'm playing will suddenly stop in their tracks during game play at times...But I think that's just my PS2....

You have to be a certain level 'till you can play other difficulty settings? Hmm, never knew that...Though I haven't really tried either.

To your last comment, the better the challenge, right? The game over all in my opinion is great. I do enjoy playing it and watching the event videos. Yukimura's are hilarious. x'D
I made a thread for this when it was first announced. Naturally it died. redface

Anywho.. I don't plan on buying this game. Just for 2 new characters & some new moves? One new stage?! Meh. I'll definately rent it if possible.

If I wouldn't have bought the DW & SW games before though, I prolly would buy this to have all characters wrapped in one.

My main WO teams will be:

All SW: Nobunaga, Ranmaru, Mitsuhide
All DW: Cao Pi, Sima Yi, Xiahou Yuan
Mix: Sun Jian, Nou, Magoichi

But I really don't (want to) know who's on who's side in this story, so I might change.

About DK: I liked it for it's UNIQUE STAGES, difficulty, voice acting, & combos (though getting good special skills takes forever). The original, Japanese version of this (Sengoku BASARA) has already made a sequel which has so much more replayability AND an expansion-like game (SB2 HEROES) will be on the way. SB2H will have VS mode PLUS Coop. This is why I plan on buying swap magic early next year and importing both SB2 & SB2H.

And to those who say "ur doin nuffin in dk...": yes you are. The game isn't about warfare like DW & SW. It's moreso about you being as stylistically spectacular as you can possibly be. It's more of an arcade game, I also think.

And please guys: Yukimura isn't in DK. He's in SB & SW. They gave his character a different name in DK (Scorpio) and renamed everything else because America doesn't care much about Japanese history (look at SW's sales), unless fun fantasy demons are thrown in (Onimusha). As much as the new names sucked, that's their official DK names.

About SW2XL: I can't wait to play as Katsuie. He's not slow, yet he's got 2 hard hitting weapons. And I love the Oda, so yeah. Motochika looks interesting too. I'll prolly have to buy this game since my Blockbuster never carries XL games.

That's because they represent two completely different eras in history, and also different countries. The SW series I feel better represents the history in terms of graphics, detail, backgrounds etc. DW does it well too, but tends to lean more to an action style game; just like the music in the game as well.

It's also the makers trying not to make them too similar, because they still have a very similar battle system to the core – outside of that though they are trying to make them rather individual to the other.
SW1/XL was all dark shades and IIRC, everything was smaller (like the size of your playing character). Fuzzy graphics.

DW5 was more orangish/brown shades. Fuzzyish graphics.

SW2 was bright. Sort of fuzzy.

You can really tell how fuzzy the graphics are during the in-game cutscenes.
I guess maybe it's the darker colors in the first two SW games that throws me off. And the fogginess...you can't see beyond the people in front of you for the most part...

Same with the DW games. I like bright and colorful for the most part...though I am spending more time playing the first two SW games and DW5 then I am SW2 or SW: E.
I spend far more time with DW5 than any of the other Warriors. I unified Japan on my second try in SW2:E and since then it's kind of hard to care, even with new scenarios and what not.

I just really prefer the story in DW. Also better enjoy the use of items instead of skills.

Devil Kings is an odd one. If you can accept that it's like SW smashed into Devil May Cry and then removed of any historical content, you'll be fine.

I'm still iffy about Warriors Orochi. I don't want it to ruin the DW world for me, but I have a feeling DW6 is going to do that anyway.

DW6 seems like it will be the point where the strong fans it has now jump ship and a new group joins instead. Maybe it's the art, or the strong feeling that it won't feel like Dynasty Warriors at all, but 6 feels like impending doom.

I could be wrong, and usually I am, and it could be the greatest thing to happen to the DW series since DW2.
I simply do not approve of some of the weapon changes. Of all the characters they're changing, none of them really NEEDED it. That, and Lu Xun looks like a One Man Gay Parade... gah. Scarey.
