Also, here's a question~ what's Roger like in battle? He's cute and all, but I always thought he was puppy chow compared to Albel. And I always took Nel as the second optional character, because while I don't like her THAT much, anyone is better than Sophia. stare

Aaaand to contribute to the conversation some as a newb to the board, I'll add that Albel is my favorite character (go figure), followed closely by Fayt. ...Although the only reason I like Fayt any is because of the slash ratio with Albel. -cough-

I cosplayed Albel for an anime convention back in 2006, but I don't have the pictures on the computer anymore. I'll reupload them soon! 8D It was a truly fabulous endeavor, and I even met a Cliff at the convention that allowed me to stab him with my enormous tinfoil sword and call him a maggot. Buwahaha.

First Departure is a remake of the original Star Ocean title on SNES which never got released out of Japan.

Roger in battle? I don't think he is that good overall. He generally offers high ATK but lacks flexibility for all opponents imo.

Roger is very good imo, he offers high ATK. The only downfall is that he cant hit flying enemies. other else than that, I find Roger to be good

Roger's goodness lies in the fact that not only does he have quite a bit of power he's also tremendous fun and amusing with crazy looking skills, hilarious quotes and a vast wardrobe of looks thanks to his helmets changing his appearance - and he can hit fliers well enough with Land Mines, Aerial and Long O 3nodding

Basically any character apart from Sophia can blow Albel out of the water damage wise (and Adray can do it with an infinite juggle combo w/th Fayt + Peppita), so yeah Roger bears up well compared to Albel in that respect. Albel's just not very good to put it plainly apart from Aura Wall which is the sole reason I ever consider taking him 4laugh Double Slash of Fury is ok too.

Though really every character has at least something they can contribute - for example Sophia is the only one w/th godlike range for cancel comboing w/o FAM.

Yeah, Thunder Flare chains can be quite useful at times for awesome Stun-locking power for example.

But as Lady Peppita said pretty much everyone can be useful if used well, even Adray with what seems to be the most basic moves of "Aerial".

Maria just defies logic but having the broken Energy Burst attack. >.>

You stuck on one of the puzzles in the Mines [[Azure]]? We can probably help you out if you tell us what one is stopping you. In there a few puzzles lie, like chasing the dragon to defeat it for a key, "weaving a single line of darkness" in lighting two torches and standing dead center of them for example.

Take a steady Hauler and go left, right, (go slow to avoid rocks), left, left left. I haven't played it for a while but I'm pretty sure that's how to get out.

Do that, and you should pass that nasty mine without too many problems. smile

i wanna explore farther into the maze of tribulations, but i don't want to do it until i get 5 million fol so i can buy santa boots. Anyways i've been doing ranking arena #1 over and over again to rack up cash. It takes too long, any faster way xD

btw. I luv star ocean, i control either Sophia or Maria. Maria does about 11k of dmg per hit with energy burst, 175% cancel bonus that is. Sophia does around 7k with her spells like explosion. I don't like controlling any other characters, maybe peppita once in a while

iirc Rogers & Maria's ultimate weapons can be refined to have a Fol x 10 factor, which clearly makes getting Fol much much faster, however they come at the expense of giving the enemy 200% ATK. Otherwise the more obvious Double Fol bonus gauge helps a little bit as well. Oh, selling excess Bunnies help a little as well, as you need no more then one of them to get the small speed boost, so the rest is free Fol!

95% Yoshikazu...congratas, I'm a good 10% behind you, and not sure if I'll go further any time soon since I'm playing too many other games atm. :/
