![]() .::Welcome::. This is The First Official Spore Creature Creator Sharing and Discussing Thread. Whooo! What a mouthful! ![]() ![]() Why exactly is a Creature Creator thread so cool that it has me hopping with excitement? Well, dear reader, Spore is full of magical surprises. Fun Creature Creation, an amazing concept, an imminent release date: September 7th 2008 but MORE IMPORTANTLY it is so interactive and community oriented that it seemed like common sense to tie it in with GaiaOnline. ![]() ![]() The real purpose of this thread is sharing. Show off your Creations Meet other Creators And try out their toys! That's right. You heard me. You can play with other people's Creatures. See, along with all the other nifty features packed into Spore's Creature Creator (YouTube, Animated Avatars, Babies and Dancing?!), they included the ability to share. Every Creature has it's own coding, it's own DNA if you will, right there in their image. ![]() ![]() Well, every PNG has the ability to store data above and beyond the call of imaging. This data storage is largely unused except in the case of secret keeping. Spore, however, has embraced this ability to make the Creature PNGs sharable on a whole new level. Every detail of your creature (right down to paint choices) is stored in the PNGs in your "documents/Creatures" folder. The simplest way to load a creature is to save the PNG to your desktop, or a folder you have open while you use Creature Creator in Windowed Mode. Then you simply drag the PNG from the desktop (or folder) right into the "Build" or "Paint" mode, and viola! You have a new creature to play with. biggrin ![]() ![]() Making a Creature: *You need to have Spore's Creature Creator installed. To install it, go to the links section of the thread and locate the "Spore.com" link. Download and installation instructions are on the page. * You must have a creature. Obviously. You go into your (now installed and ready) game, and select "Create a Creature" on the right of the starting screen. Then let your imagination go wild. :3 *Notes on Creature Creation: Resize with the mousewheel. To attach limbs to the ends of other limbs, hold ctrl. * You must save the creature. After you've made a worthy creature, click the save icon (a small floppy disk in the lower right). Uploads and Other * Upload the Creature. If you have Photobucket, then log in and go to the upload feature. Once your in, locate DocumentsMy Spore CreationsCreatures on your PC. These are the files to use for an interactive creature. If you don't have a Photobucket account, then I recommend Tinypic. * Take Animated Screenshots. You can do this by loading your creature in the "Test Drive" section. The options at the bottom left will change to show two cameras (Picture and Video) and a series of squares. When you hover your cursor over the series of squares, it will say "Capture Animated Avatar". Once you click it your creature will perform an action of it's own choosing and then it will save. It saves to the folder "DocumentsMy Spore CreationsAnimatedAvatars" on a PC. ![]() ![]() Okay, so now you should be asking "So now what?" Well dear reader, that is a great question. Now I want you to share your creatures with us, participate in contests and games, and just generally hang out and get to be comfortable with this whole new world we've stumbled upon here. When you post creatures, try to include name, description, tags, the PNG*, and maybe even some animations! (*=Mandatory lol) We'll have "best Creature" contests, and posting contests, and so much more! So be sure to stick around! Introduction (Explanation) (How?!)
