Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep is set for a January 9 Japanese release!~

Days spoilers could go up in the summaries any day now; be aware!

THERE IS NO KINGDOM HEARTS III.

Rules (just a quick pair)
1. Follow the TOS. Because someone has to. (Tokoros? Yea, I'm watching you guys.)
2. Please DON'T spoil the new games (Days, BBS, and Coded) for other people! If you absolutely HAVE to talk about them, please put it in non-quoted white text. Thanks in advance.

Game summaries listed in in-universe chronological order. Note that while I tried to avoid spoilers on the new games, you read at your own risk.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep

Taking place ten years before the first Kingdom Hearts, this is the story hinted at by the trailers in Kingdom Hearts II/KH2FM. Focusing on a trio of new protagonists, Aqua, Ven, and Terra, this game is said to be connected to all others within the series. Due to be released for the PSP around on January 9th in Japan, the plot focuses a great deal on the character of Ven, a boy who looks a great deal like Roxas, and the enemies that existed prior to the creation of the Heartless, known as "Unversed." It also focuses on Vanitas, the apprentice of Master Xehanort, both of whom, like the protagonists, have the ability to wield the Keyblade.

It is NOT Kingdom Hearts III. Thank you.

The original game, focusing on the "Hero of the Keyblade," Sora, who is forced to leave his home as the Heartless destroy it, and is promptly thrust into a battle against the Darkness. Alongside Donald and Goofy, Sora travels to many worlds, battling the Heartless and looking for his two close friends, Riku and Kairi. Along the way, he discovers that a witch named Maleficent is kidnapping the "Princesses of Heart" and that Riku, his best friend, is working with her to do so! Sora and co. Keyblade their way through classic Disney baddies towards Maleficent, who is pulling out her nonexistant hair trying to find the last Princess of Heart.

Unknown to Maleficent, the Princess she seeks is right before her eyes, as Riku has been caring for Kairi all along. However, Kairi's heart resides elsewhere. Sora arrives at Maleficent's castle and fights against Riku, his best friend, who temporarily claims the power of Sora's Keyblade for himself. Afterwards, Riku retreats, unknowingly making a bargain with a man named "Ansem" who offers him power. After Sora defeats Maleficent, Ansem possesses Riku's body, forcing him to fight his friend again. After Sora defeats the possessed Riku, he takes the "Keyblade" made of the hearts of the other Princesses, and stabs himself, turning into a Heartless and releasing Kairi's heart. (The full consequences of this action are explored more in Chain of Memories and 358/2 Days.) Kairi, in turn, restores Sora to himself.

After promising to return to Kairi, Sora leaves to confront Ansem, still in control of Riku's body, on the ruins of the Destiny Islands. Defeated once again, Ansem makes a last ditch effort to open the Door to Darkness; he succeeds, but is forced back into Riku by the force of Light on the other side. Sora, Donald and Goofy, with the aid of King Mickey and Riku, close the Door, restoring the worlds to their positions before the Heartless came. Riku and Mickey are trapped on the other side, and Kairi is returned to the Destiny Islands. Sora, Donald, and Goofy thus undertake a new quest; to find a way to their trapped friends, so that they can all return home together.

After the credits, there are a pair of unlockable videos, one in KH1 and one in the Final Mix version. The two collectively known as "Another Side, Another Story" feature a battle between Roxas and Riku in the World That Never Was.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (+Re:COM)

Sora, Donald, and Goofy have defeated Ansem, but their quest continues, as they search for Riku and King Mickey, who were locked behind the Door. Arriving at a strangely shaped castle, they are told that as they climb the floors, their memories will disappear, falling away to reveal "true memories" within.

In reality, the three have just entered Castle Oblivion, and Organization XIII has taken the stage for the first time in the series. Using the power of Naminé, the "memory witch," to rewrite Sora's memories, the members of the Organization at the Castle plan to use Sora to further their plans. However, the man in charge of the Castle, Marluxia, has plans not exactly in line with the rest of the Organization.

Under Marluxia's orders, Naminé erases Sora's memories of Kairi, replacing them with false memories of herself. She does the same to a Replica of Riku created by Vexen, another of the Organization's members. Sora climbs the floors of Castle Oblivion, driven by false memories, crossing blades with both the Replica and several Organization members (most notably Axel, the only member to survive his time in the Castle), on his way to rescue Naminé from Marluxia's clutches.

Upon his arrival on the twelth floor, however, it is revealed to Sora the truth; that the memories he has been following are fake. Naminé promises to restore his memories; however, she can only do so if Marluxia is gone. Sora erases Marluxia and his ally, Larxene, and then enters into a year long sleep so that Naminé can restore his true memories.

Meanwhile, in the basement below, Riku attempts to escape the darkness within his own heart, and a few more members of the Organization along the way. In the end, he is reunited with King Mickey in time to come upon Sora, already deep in his memory repairing sleep and watched over by Naminé and a man called "DiZ." Riku promises to do whatever it takes to restore Sora's memories, regardless of the cost to himself. Afterwards, he goes on the defeat the remains of Ansem in his heart, purging himself of the Heartless man's presence, but not his power.

It was recreated in 3D in a version known as Re:Chain of Memories for the PS2, which was originally released with KH2: Final Mix. Last December, the new version of the game arrived in the United States.

Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days

http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/3337/logo2jp9.jpg

Recently released in Japan for the Nintendo DS, this is the story of Roxas' time with Organization XIII while Sora slept. Opening with the introduction of Number XIV to the Organization, "Xion," on the seventh day after Roxas' arrival, this game follows Roxas up until his waking in Twilight Town at the opening of Kingdom Hearts II. Showing Roxas' growing friendship with Axel and Xion, as well as his later questioning about the boy known as "Sora" and the Keyblade, this game is sure to give a new perspective on "those who do not exist" as it heads towards it's tragic ending.

Includes a multiplayer function known as "Mission Mode," in which you can play as a member of Organization XIII or one of several unlockable characters and go on missions from the storyline with your friends.

It is set for a September 29th release date in North America.

Kingdom Hearts II

http://www.kingdomhearts3.net/images/kingdom-hearts-2-logo.gif

Actually the third game released, Kingdom Hearts II picks up with the story of Roxas, a teenaged boy in Twilight Town who is plagued at night by memories of another boy named Sora. As his summer vacation winds to a close, he encounters a man named Axel and a girl named Naminé, both of whom imply that not all is as it seems in Twilight Town. Eventually, Roxas discovers the truth; that he is the "Nobody" of Sora, a wielder of the Keyblade, and once, the last Nobody of Organization XIII. Roxas rejoins with Sora, opening the way for the Keyblade Master to wake from his year long sleep.

Sora, Donald, and Goofy awake in Twilight Town with no memory after the defeat of "Ansem." True to form, Sora immediately begins to search for Riku again; however, he now finds his progress impaired by the remaining members of Organization XIII. Exploring new worlds, and a few new parts of old ones, Sora finds that the Heartless still await him at every turn.

Sora and co. eventually find one of the people they had been questing for; or rather, King Mickey finds them. He tells them the truth of their encounter with "Ansem;" the man they defeated was not in fact Ansem at all, but the Heartless of his apprentice, Xehanort. The Nobody of this man, Xemnas, is the leader of Organization XIII. At about this time, Sora discovers that Kairi has been kidnapped by a man named Axel; a traitor to the Organization, and the best friend of Roxas. However, Kairi is soon stolen from Axel by Saïx, another member of the Organization. Sora decides to defeat the Organization, both to stop their actions of spreading Heartless throughout the worlds, and to rescue Kairi (and maybe Riku, too).

Sora returns to Twilight Town, and with the help of some local residents, enters the virtual town that kept Roxas as a prisoner during his last seven days of existence. There, he enters a space between worlds and discovers Axel, fighting against a large number of lesser Nobodies. Axel sacrifices himself to defend Sora, then opens a pathway to the World That Never Was, where the rest of the Organization resides.

Axel's death reawakens Roxas within Sora. Before Sora arrives at the Organization's Castle, he appears to be met by a boy his own age in an Organization cloak, wielding a pair of Keyblades. However, Donald and Goofy see nothing of the pair's battle. Afterward, the boy says that Sora is "a good Other" before disappearing. Roxas and Axel also have an exclusive farewell scene during this scene in Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix.

Meanwhile, Kairi sits in her cell in the Organization's Castle, when a portal opens revealing Naminé. Kairi escapes with her Nobody, not even realizing what the girl is until later. This also opens a path for Sora and those with him (Donald, Goofy, and the King) to enter the Castle That Never Was. Saïx attempts to recapture Kairi, however, he is stopped by a man in the Organization's coat, a man Naminé calls "Riku" before disappearing. Kairi approaches Riku and removes his hood, startled to see the face of Xehanort's Heartless in place of her dear friend. Mickey runs ahead of the group, and runs into DiZ in the upper floors. Mickey recognizes his old acquaintance, the real Ansem the Wise.

Sora battles the Heartless summoned by Saïx, until another member of the Organization, Xigbar, destroys them and attacks Sora himself. Sora defeats Xigbar, who leaves behind cryptic hints about past wielders of the Keyblade. A now thoroughly confused Sora heads upwards to meet Kairi. Riku, still wearing the face of Xehanort, attempts to leave, but Kairi stops him, and shows Sora who he truly is. Sora falls to his knees in relief, in a scene fangirls for all of time shall never forget.

The group presses onward, defeating Luxord and Saïx. They arrive in time to see Ansem the Wise and Mickey talking with Xemnas, who taunts his former master in front of the moon of Kingdom Hearts. Ansem apologizes for everything he's done, and causes the machine he was using to digitize Kingdom Hearts to blow up. Xemnas leaves, and the power of the explosion causes Riku to assume his own form again.

The group then heads off to the final confrontation with Xemnas, who absorbs the remaining power in the Kingdom Hearts moon. After the first battle, the group thinks him defeated. Roxas and Naminé speak to Sora and Kairi, who promise to be together every day, so that their Nobodies can be, too. Naminé then opens a portal, and the majority of the group leaves. However, Sora and Riku are left behind to face Xemnas yet again. After defeating his armored form, Sora and Riku face down the Nobody of Xehanort one last time in a swirling space of black and white. Riku is wounded in the battle, and the two limp towards the dark shore together. There, Sora finds a letter from Kairi in a bottle, which opens a "Door to Light" leading the boys back to the Islands at last.

After the credits, the Island trio are shown together, reading a letter from the King. What contents this letter may have are still unknown. There are also another pair of unlockable trailers, both of which relate to the prequel game Birth By Sleep.

Kingdom Hearts: Coded

http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/6536/logo3lk6.jpg

The only one of the three new games to take place after Kingdom Hearts II, Coded focuses on the adventures of a digital Sora within Jiminy's Journal. As this game is for the mobile phone, it will probably never see a US release. In Japan, it is currently being released in an episodic format, with one episode released a month. The story is said to focus on what was going on behind the scenes in the first Kingdom Hearts.

Kingdom Hearts III/Kingdom Hearts XYZ

DOES NOT EXIST.

Yes, Nomura has some crackpot of an idea. That doesn't mean jack. Kingdom Hearts was originally going to involve chainsaws for weapons. It's not in development, and won't be until at LEAST Coded and BBS are out. BEyond that, Nomura's team has the FFXIII triad to work through as well. It's not coming out soon and it's not in development. Ideas can be changed or thrown away; they mean nothing. Stop ****ing PM-trolling me about it.

Thank you, moving on!

I'm going to come right out and say it kudos for actually making a KH thread that actually has a bit of research behind it, and is not "When is KH 3 coming out!". Hopefully this thread can "educate" some of the...."lesser intelligent" fans of the series.

That was the idea, yes. Hopefully if we can keep this near if not on the front page, it'll cut down on the noobs at least a little.

I'm still scared for when Days comes out, though.
